It's unbelievable how we get to the point that every other video review of a double din car audio equipment, points out all the cables and devices connections (which I agree that is important), BUT.... never say a single word about the audio quality of said equipment. Unbelievable!
How one can know which brand (and model) to buy if it's impossible to find reviews that tell us how the sound is? It's puzzling to see this trend.
I recently purchased this headunit. The screen and unit itself is very responsive, which is great.
The things I don't like about it are
1) There's no way to use the progress bar to skip through tracks when playing via USB. So if I'm listening to a 45 minute mix for example, I can't slide the progress bar to reach a certain point which is annoying.
2) There's no album art via Bluetooth or USB
3) You can't press and hold things on the home screen to put them in your preferred order.
As you say, it's basic and works well. I just wish Sony added to above improvements.
Does it have WIRED or WIRELESS carplay and android auto? Idiots at SONY didn't think it's important enough to mention in specs.

As your plugging your phone into the back I’m guessing it doesn’t sit flush into where a previous radio will of sat?

Which one of those units you're testing has best screen picture quality. This unit looks better on your video that alpine 905 unit , is it my impression or it really is better? Is it Amoled or Oled?
Does this radio not show any images in the DAB-mode? Of the channel or the actual song?

Also by Bluetooth connection cuts in and out for about 10 seconds when starting to play music
As I understood jack-adapter for remote control from steering wheel is not included in kit? Or I'm wrong?

My sony will play some music files but others it will show cannot play content even though they are all in the same format. Why?
You mention that the yellow port on the back is for reverse camera to plug in but there is also a wire on the harness with a label saying reverse camera, a bit confusing, which would you use?
The yellow plug is for the Video, the other wire is what is used to get power to the camera. The camera I am ordering with my unit (Think I am going with this Sony, XAV-AC5600 (guess the 50 is for other countries?). It has a wire along with the video plug on each end. So you can get the power to it from the head unit.
Is it compatible with mazda 3 - 2003-2009 model?
This will do for me, only thing though, would that be amazing to have the same, but with wireless Apple Car Play. Anything on the market ( apart from the 8000 series with huge screens) with about the same screen size and wireless Apple Car Play connection? Cheers!

Sony has their AX6000 coming out with wireless car play. You can't expect to get wireless AA or CP in a 500 unit. Unless you want to go the route of the low-end BOSS stuff.
It is a shame that Sony does't have an Android unit, to use Waze (for example) directly without connect the phone each time (that will be broken the charge port in the time).
I had some android units but they are slow and sooooo lag.
Sony provided dome head screws with this which are unusable because they need to be flush for install so ive had to find some screws online that will work costed me an extra £8
Where would the blue wire on an aerial adapter connect to on this unit? It doesn't have a blue remote wire hanging out the back of the unit for power.
there is a blue remote wire in the iso loom that comes with the stereo which you will have to tap in to

Alot of 2din makers cheap out on cpu and screen hz, would love to see some butterfluid frameless screens in the future. 120hz and up. 100% interactive screen. No physical buttons. Not wireless Applecar or android? That’s a bummer..
Is this one overall better than Pioneer SPH-DA250DAB?
its a matter of opinion, the Pioneer has a flush tablet look however the Sony has dual USB and a larger screen

I just purchased a XAV-AX5600 but received this model instead(XAV-AX5650). Does anyone know if this would function properly in the US as I believe this is the European version. Thanks in advance.
Yes i am in the same situation where i ordered the XAV-AX5600 but received the XAV-AX5650 instead i have had no issues with this unit since installing it in my car.
Interesting. I was wondering about the 5550 and 5650 nomenclature used on these. I guess they are for other country releases? Where do you live? Getting ready to order the 5600 myself, I think. Still debating.
