    I had a dream about Waylon last night. I was at a country music festival in 2019. And on stage, was Waylon, playing "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way". Half of the audience had brought their guitar with them to play along with any song they knew. Then, like it had been planned on by the whole audience, everyone started to group up and sit in lines. I got up to join them, and before I could get in a line and sit in it, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around, and it was Waylon. He had offered to teach me a lesson, and of course, I said Yes. So we started to play. I remember it so vividly. I remember him placing my first finger on the 5th fret, 2nd string, 2nd finger 4th string 6th fret, and my 3rd finger on the 7th fret. He taught me how to play "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way" like he did, but on HIS guitar. It's single-handedly, the BEST dream I have ever had. Maybe when I fall asleep tonight he'll teach me another lesson. Here's hoping!!!

      "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?" has two chords, B Major and E Major. (starting with the B Major and simply switches back and forth) The chord you're describing sounds like an E major with the 2nd string, 5th fret being an E and the 4th string, 6th fret being a G#, which is indeed part of an E Major chord, but you didn't say which string you play the 7th fret. Now if it were the 1st string you play the 7th fret on, it would be a B, so those three notes do indeed make an E major chord. But, then that leaves the 3d string open which is a G and a G is not a part of either chord. Was this a simple mistake (which would be understandable), or is that really what he told you, because of the simple fact that we can't actually learn something in our dreams we didn't already know. Which, would actually make more sense.

    Awesome... A few years ago, when Waylon toured Australia with Willie, I not only got to see Waylon's guitar, but to hold it as well. I asked him about it at the end of the show and he went a got it out of it's case and handed it to me. It blew me away. Waylon was a great bloke and very friendly. He is greatly missed...

Around 8mins into this Waylon talks of a Harmony Guitar..Believe it or not..when i was around 13 my grandparents too me to nashville and in a pawn shop bought me $100 guitar..what was it a Harmony..of course it didn't look fancy but will never forget that brand..Im proud to call you a friend!!

    IIRC Jennings' main leather covered Tele was actually an original Fender Broadcaster.

    • @phil-1115
      @phil-1115 9 месяцев назад

      The Broadcaster was the 3rd guitar that Waylon had. That is the one that Keith Urban owns now. Waylon's first 2 were Telecasters. The family still owns the very first 1953 Tele that his band had the janitor, Howard Turner, at Wild Bill's cover in leather for Waylon's birthday.

      @@phil-1115 It's just something I read in a couple places around the time Keith acquired the guitar, but it could be that those articles were just trying to hype up that particular instrument.
      EDIT: I've been poking around online and the consensus seems to be it was his main guitar from some time in the late 70's until the mid to late 80's when he retired it do to being too heavy. (Keith has also made not of the fact that it's exceptionally heavy.)

    • @phil-1115
      @phil-1115 9 месяцев назад

      @@user-do2ev2hr7h,
      I have been doing some poking around too. Waylon had the Broadcaster with him at every show from the 70 until 1993. I am not sure if he played it the most, but it was always with him. Here is what I found out.
      Waylon asked Reggie Young to visit him at his Nashville home. Young relates "Waylon said 'I have a guitar to give you.' When he returned to the room he handed it to me. I said 'Wow! Waylon, do you know what this is?' He said 'Yes. It is too heavy for me now. I want to give it to someone who can play it and you are a good friend.' I felt humbled!" It was on exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame from 2006 until June of 2009. In 2009 Reggie Young sold it to Nicole Kidman.
