Best thing about Arctic Monkeys is the evolution. From 18 year old lads going clubbing to sophisticated men in their late thirties.
I love early Arctic Monkeys and understand why people don't really connect with this, but I honestly love this song. A band will change their style and do things differently as they progress. This is a song which gets better every time and has so much depth to it. It's also the first track on the album, it won't all be exactly like this. I read Alex Turner said one of his favourite singers was Frank Sinatra so that was a great insight. Definitely review the new album but also go back to more from their first 5 albums. Great review.
This there best stuff in my opinion the album is 🔥
- Teddy Picker
- Do Me A Favour
- Crying Lightning
- Cornerstone
- One Point Perspective
- Four Out Of Five
It's the early arctic monkeys stuff you guys would dig, one listen to a certain romance is all it takes
I have to say I didn’t think you two would be into Arctic’s newer stuff but I’m glad you are cos I adore it. 100% that’s it, the reason they remain so relevant is because they refuse to rest on their laurels. I have so much respect for that. Plus the music is so great to vibe to. You do need to check out A Certain Romance from their first album as well tho as it’s an absolute MUST
4:21 you should listen to star treatment he sings in character as a lounge singer in a hotel on the moon.. peak creativity imo
An absolutely stunning song. Beautiful.
Their whole last album was lounge singer type stuff, it's fantastic.
Oh you´re in for a treat with Alex´s vocals on Body Paint (the second single)
It's a nice tune, I probably prefer Body Paint now (especially its second half). I think both tunes will make sense in the context of the upcoming album. But there's still a lot of their early music you haven't heard, guitar+drum driven, good lyricism :) Maybe check out songs "A Certain Romance" (from 2006), "Teddy Picker" (2007) or "Cornerstone" (2009).
the right guy is ready to cry any moment
If the beatles carried on they would be doing this kind of experimentation musically
I reckon a full album listen to the first album followed by the new one would be an interesting dichotomy
This video will be priceless in 20 years.
I know since this video is pretty old now, you probably won’t see this, but I loved the reaction! On this one and the Body Paint one, I found it interesting you said it was such a change in sound, then realized that you likely didn’t listen to anything from Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino. If you do see this, I’d recommend checking out something from that album, or if you want, a video analyzing it like a particularly good one from Middle 8! It becomes clear that they’d go down a route like this after listening to TBHC. This track is absolutely beautiful and cinematic, something I loved about Alex’s work with The Last Shadow Puppets! Anyways, keep rockin’, love the reactions!!!
There are some Arctic Monkeys songs that I can hear the singer’s voice very like David Bowie.
I've just watched Kevin and Perry arrive from Manchester skit, you need to react to it they pretending be like the gallagher brothers lol
They come from my city Sheffield
Like the review. Reminds me a bit of the later stuff Dion did with Spector.
their earlier stuff is excellent, can't say i'm a fan of their newer stuff
its pure Burt Bacarch. Amazing
Oh there'd better be a fecking mirrorball for me
That was smooth as silk and unexpected
If this was the first AM song I'd ever listened to, I wouldn't be listening to a second! 😂
Pure self indulgent, disappearing-up-our-own-arses dross.
One of my favourite arctic Monkey songs has to be Mardie Arse. Have a listen
This is definitely going to be an album to chill out to with a whisky late at night as you say, reflect on things. This track is full of reflection and memories from the past. Really love it!
Take a look at Portishead from the 90’s. Also Skunk Anansie! Please! 🙂🙂
Gotta say fellas not a great place to continue/restart the Arctic Monkeys reactions - loads of stuff you have breezed past, I would go back to their older albums before you start doing anything new. Remember none of us are into these songs yet either👍🏽I liked this track and sure it will grow on me👍🏽get back to the older stuff boys, much better stuff you haven’t heard yet🫶🏽🫶🏽👍🏽
Nah, only their first two albums are better than their new music, everything between those records and tranquility base is boring af.
This song is great
@@maudelhoyo4019 ok
@@maudelhoyo4019if you can’t comprehend anything more than power chords that’s your problem, doesn’t make the new stuff bad. go and listen oasis
Lads, if ye are gonna do the 2nd one 'Body Paint', do the Jimmy Fallon live version, so much better than the studio one.
Lads - Trust me. Their early stuff is their best stuff.
lad, is different music lad. Can't compare, both types are incredible.
sorry, newer stuff is better. if you can’t understand anything more than power chords that’s fine, doesn’t make it the best
There's still a lot of good songs from there first 3 albums that you haven't done
FYI this isn't a new sound for them. Their last album sounded like this as well.
Black Grape - In the name of the father
The 1970s called and asked for their song back wow
sounds nothing like a 70s song
@@AlfieHoy17 that’s your opinion mine is that it does 👍🏼
@@stevestibbons1789 fair enough
If you've not heard anything from their last album released I'm 2018, this vibe will come as a bit of a shock. Never been a huge fan of that album, but would strongly recommend One Point Perspective, Four Out of Five, The Ultracheese, She Looks Like Fun and the title song, Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino from that album. Great songs, the rest I could take or leave. Body Paint which will be on the new album is also a great listen
Batphone as well
If you haven't heard their first album yet have a listen to that. My favourite rock album of all time. Not a bad track on it. Just pure British garage rock telling tales of nights out in Sheffield. Absolute classic!
Completely different to their more recent stuff. Which, quite frankly I don't like.
Guys please do a reaction from the Scottish band The Snuts, they are inspired by Arctic Monkeys, I recommend the song Glasgow or Seasons
Please react to Body paint and I ain't quite where I think I am. ❤️
I love the direction they have gone in recently, Alex turner has begun creating what he wants to, rather than what will be popular. That said, it would probably be best if you reacted to the albums in order to see their development
I always find it odd listening to the newer stuff - this and the stuff from TBHAC is certainly a very different sound from those early demos over 15 years ago. I do enjoy it, but listening to the recent live sets, where they showed they can still hit the guitars hard and fast, was very nice.
As a Sheffielder, something that appealed back in those early years was Alex's accent, and the very Sheffield-centric lyrics and sounds in a lot of tracks. Nowadays, Alex has more of a mid-Atlantic croon about him, and I tend to find that tracks need a few listens before they start to settle and grow on you - no immediate bangers like on early albums. Still looking forward to listening to The Car though.
Guys can you please listen to the song then talk about it don’t interrupt the song. Lots of love from the uk
You should review The Last Shadow Puppets. That’s Alex Turner’s other band. All of it is better than this new sound from Arctic Monkeys.
There early stuff...first 2 albums are so much better,. Then they wanted to break into the American market, so they slowed their music and lyrics right down
no they're just not 20 years old anymore
Not sure he has a soulful enough voice to pull this type of song off.
You should be reviewing their early albums and b-sides. Everything from Favorite Worst Nigtmare, Humbug, Suck It & See, and AM. This new stuff is awful.
You haven’t done nearly enough first two album AM songs to be going onto the recent boring music 😂
I don’t care for the direction they have been going since there last album. Looks like this will be the same as the last album. I am ok with bands trying something a bit different, but limit it to a couple of songs on an album. If this didn’t have Arctic Monkeys name attached to it, no one would notice.
First 3 albums are incredible. Then twas a steep decline.
Arctic Monkeys 2006-2014 was awesome. Everything since has been garbage. Tranquility Base is one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard. It’s a shame.
Dreadful
First time I’ve heard this…it’s awful compared to their old stuff
Don’t do their new stuff it’s bang average and a complete downgrade on all of their old stuff
In your opinion, I love this song!
@@jaykafei4815 just not a fan at all, just nothing to it at all Imo
