Thanks a lot. Actually i was looking for to see if this kind of variable speed DP's can be used with this kind of belt. How does it feels and sounds like? Less vibration? Less noise?
Attila Szabo Hi Attila, thanks for watching and commenting. The drill press works just fine since it has a Reeves Drive and this style of link-belt reduces sound and vibration. Make sure you get the right size (thickness) if you try this for your drill press. Cheers!
Bill Rockwood : my DP is brand new, so the belt is also new on it. I made every possible fine tunes on it, even reduce the noise and vibration with baby powder. Strange thing is that, it runs smoothly and relatively quiet, but when i adjust the speed, it could just suddenly start to vibrate. Not on a certain speed though, just totally random. And as i know the rubber v-belts by time it will be worst, as it get tired.
Attila Szabo Solid rubber belts will transmit vibration - which is what motivated me to change my belt in the first place. There are other variables in addition to the belt - motor balance, the Reeves drive pulleys, bearings, etc. that may contribute to vibration - hard to say without seeing firsthand.

Bill Rockwood Thanks for the quick reply! Compare to the normal belt, is the difference (noise, vibration) significant?
Attila Szabo In my opinion, my drill press runs more smoothly and quieter with the link belt versus the original rubber belt.

How many links did you end up using of the belt?
Hi Jonah, I am currently using 54 links on this drill press. Cheers!
