@lmsw2012 You can steam the buns the same way as the dogs. Use a steam pan and a perforated pan and you will be able to steam both, even in the same pan.
Hey there! Thanks for the videos, they help a lot. A friend recently bought a hot dog stand and I'm helping her fix it. One thing I can't figure out is how to hook up a water hose to supply water to it. There is a spigot at the bottom which I thought was for drain, but I don't think it is, and on the side there is a small sink with another spigot connection, I think I'm going to need a female connection, but don't know where to put the water hose. I believe the hot box on top works with water being heated up? Learning as I go, trying to help her out. Thank you for your guidance.
Thank you! I just thought I ordered a pilot burner for the hot box, but it was the wrong part. I can't seem to find this burner. Maybe I'm not using the correct name when looking on line for it. Not sure, can you help? Guidance on where I should look? The correct name for it? Thank you very much in advance!
Ben, thanks for your video .... thinking to do hot dog cart business ..... Question - what is the stuff ... name .... the man put in the water ?? thanks
Any more tips if one is going for a complete steaming setup for the cart. Do you recommend having a fridge there as well for the storage of dogs. Or any other way to go about the storage.
Ben, I do have a few questions on the Big Dog Cart which I'll email you. And a question I can ask here. Do you go to the Carnival Expo held in Riverview, FL in February? Or any other show here in Florida?
I recently got a similar cart, though pans are shallower and only direct heat under 2 pans. How am I going to heat the buns? I don’t want to serve cold buns, I’m based in Ireland and cold buns won’t go down well.
Hey Big Ben! How much does this cart go for? What's the water capacity and the name of the size and model? MAYBE I can use this one where I live? Thanks!
I'm a new Cart owner looking for pointers, did you have trouble finding a Commissary ? The V D H here is th e Cow on the R R tracks '' about disposing waste and a place to do it.
No problem... Howdy! Great question. I've done a lot of work on commissaries and although everyone's situation isn't the same... I cover every single option there is. A. how to get them for free B. how to get them fast but for $ C. how to profit from a commissary (along with some other commissary insights) If you go here: learnhotdogs.com/?s=commissary you'll find a page full of articles, but skim through the titles and find what you want to know about. Then at the bottom, you'll see I have 3 more pages of articles. You certainly don't need all of them but as I said... I try to cover everyone's situation. Hope that helps.
I would serve them at a discount or feed them to people's pets if they wanted or donate them to homeless rather than throw them away anything is better than wasting plus if you give hot dogs to a hungry poor people it will earn you a better reputation and you can believe that those homeless hungry people when they get a few dollars in your pocket from panhandling or doing light work or whatever they will remember you and spend with you or put a good word out for you Word of Mouth can be the best form of advertisement in business settings
You can start with the local grocery store, but remember my tip in the free training videos about asking for a discount from the manager. Ultimately, you'll want to find a broad line distributor. Google: broad line food distributor near me - that should give you plenty.
Some places don't allow for grilling from an open cart like that and require you to have a covered, trailer type mobile food unit. It can change from county to county too.
i have consistently seen 4% used as the benchmark rough estimate. that is, if 100 people are to pass by your cart, expect that 4 people will buy from you. in your case, to get 100 customers, you need 2500 people to pass by.
Blast from the past here ... we've both come a long way's since then, and I have because of your help and advice. Love ya brother!

You said you use gel packs instead of ice
Well where do you get gel packs from ?
I don't like steamed hot dogs.
But I Love the video.
Ben can you share with use how much money you made this day?....thanks
Neon Relish
Super
@dieselmac That was for charity, I am not sure but I think it was $450+
Any more tips if one is going for a complete steaming setup for the cart. Do you recommend having a fridge there as well for the storage of dogs. Or any other way to go about the storage.
Use the cooler on the cart for your hot dogs and cold products (your supplies). No need for a fridge.

Can u use carts in riverside
after i cooked the hot dogs how long do let it set in hot water before they go bad??
Frank: If they go bad, you need another location! Put them in the steamer brother.
Hey Big Ben! How much does this cart go for? What's the water capacity and the name of the size and model? MAYBE I can use this one where I live? Thanks!

Some of my customers
Like the hot dogs that split
What flavor cubes do you use in the water
I use chicken, but beef is great if your dogs are beef.
I have no interest in owning a hot dog cart but I'm still watching all of these videos just to know things I guess. I don't know I'm curious
that's great. I love learning new things too and often pick a random video to watch and learn.
i will try this in bryan texas how much is the license to run this business thanks!
$.50 and a handy
Bowling hot dog is good 🙂
Hey Ben can you link the insurance company you mentioned in one of your videos a while back?
www.fliprogram.com/?
How deep is the spillage pan that you use in this video ? and whats the actual size, since there are so many out there
6" deep. I have additional videos at: learnhotdogs.com/understanding-steam-pans-sizes-and-setup/
@britarthc Thank you!
food saftey says food is good for holding at temperature for 4 hrs..
I'm trying to get the pilot light to stay on. Idk what I'm doing wrong.
Could you bring other cooked meats and then heat that up to temp much the same way you would hotdogs? Pre cooked hamburger, brats, and the like?
Really depends on your state codes and your inspector.
After you boil the hot dogs for 7 minutes and turn the flame off, how long can they sit in the water before you will deem them unservable?
vukota12 below 140 degrees and bacteria grows
hi i have a hot dog cart its old its a all american cart i ned 2 new burners can you help me out on where i can buy new burners

"steaming involves using steam"
I much prefer a steamed hotdog. With French's yellow mustard. lol

My steam table takes to long to heat up and the dog don’t get very hot what am I doing wrong
Howdy Martin - find out what btu your burners are. Some manufacturers use burners that are too low or not enough of them.
So. I accidentally lit my kettle too high. And blew my eye brows off.
Gloves?
