Gordie Howe International Bridge is a six lane bridge with a width that allows for a future expansion to eight lanes, and will still include the pedestrian trail. It's going be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and will also set a world record for the longest composite steel and concrete cable-stayed bridge deck in the world.
The bridge will connect Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, in Canada. The bridge is named after Gordie Howe, who played for the Detroit Red Wings. The bridge will facilitate trade and traffic between the US and Canada and provide another crossing point between Detroit and Windsor.

Every time I see the Ambassador Bridge in the distance, I think of Matty Maroun and how hard he tried, unsuccessfully! to stop this bridge from being built. The same guy who let Michigan Central Station go to ruin, of course. These videos are such a great visual record of this build! 👍
Not to mention what he did to the west end of Windsor too
What an Amazing Bridge !!! 😊😊😊
Very interesting video showing details around towers and hoisting equipment. Differing views from previous shots. Luv it!!!
Thank you Bud!
Your chronicle is priceless for the future generations. It reminds me many other documentaries, for example the building of Golden gate or Empire state building. The drone technology makes it extraordinary.
But on top of all is your personal efforts and consistency.
Great job!
@@hemusbull Thank you very much! I hope the videos are here for years to come.
I can't wait for the view of Zug Island when crossing.
😁😁
Nope I don’t want to see no view of Zug Isle I saw enough close up and personal fo 38 years 😊😊
Zug island on your side and the Lou Romano water treatment plant’s smell on our side 😂
show the stay cable holes at the top so we can see how many sections are left
Would be interesting to see - you may already have this - a time lapse video of them starting from an empty anchor (as you showed here) and following the installation of all the strands that are then connected to the respective tower and down to the corresponding anchor on the opposite side.
Great shots. 👍🍁
Thank you!
Michael, sometimes at my work fall protection was required. Even though I'm sitting in my chair, when I see those guys on the edge I'm wanting to put my harness back on. That is not the place to lose track of what you're doing. Much respect for the Ironworkers on both sides of the river!
Thank you Mike for watching the video!
i notice the main ibeams have the top flange dished out to allow room for each cable anchor tube
Great initial shot under the bridge Michael. By the shadow on the water and the small boat passing through you get a good concept of the distance remaining. Clever!
Thank you for the kind compliment!
Skies are gonna be thick with drones when the two spans meet up 😂😂.
Amazing.
Thanks!
thanking you ,superb one question who is having the honour of putting in the final part
Thank you Rita!
Just wondering. Does all the workers that work at the middle of the bridge have to go through Customs every time they cross the border? Great video by the way
They don't cross the border. Each side has their own crew.
