Children learn through visual communication, and color helps them to make sense of our environment. Colors affect all of us, even when we do not consciously perceive them. Neutral paint colors are calming. Finishes that are warm and familiar, such as woodgrain flooring and low pile rugs, help control sound and can provide peaceful sanctuary. Bright and active colors are best reserved for areas that promote movement.
