Americas should pay more so that they can improve the processing center infrastructure. Instead of blaming all india.
If they pay more it’s mostly going to go to the farm owners bank accounts and labors are still going to be paid low.
It's doesn't matter if they pay more or not they are daily labors and those companies are huge they will get more profit but will not give more money to workers and lot of politicians are also part of this
Andhra is contrast state in India. State govt has been giving freebies after freebies, yet people say they are unable to take there kids to hospital even after providing free hospital services. We have to re evaluate lot of contrats shown in these videos...

A better study will be comparing their current living conditions to their previous living conditions and see if their life is better or worse since they started working in the so called "gruelling conditions", most of them come from villages who does even have a toilet at home. AP should do proper research before coming up with conclusions like this.
So why dont you compare their living standard with guys who comsume these shrimp? Have they worked harder than these factory workers?

I am from the same state in India where this documentary. This is totally false news every person more than 60 Years of age will get pension of 4000 Rs, Free food and lot of utility items from State Government of Andhra Pradesh, even my grand mother. These people just choose a random old age worker and interviewed, and they obviously love to ask for more money through media. In this current world their is no meat without Antibiotics.
I can see the changes to in my village hear near BHIMAVARAM people face WATER PROBLEM Most of the rich FERTILE LANDS IN DELTA REGION HAS BE CONVERTED TO AQUA ,RIVERS ARE POLLUTED most off the River water has been CHANGED TO GREEN COLOUR UNEMPLOYEMENT Has been raised because of LESS AGRICULTURAL LAND and crops have been destroyed because of polluted water that is coming into the land and the agriculture farmers have been suffering by USING THIS POLLUTED WATER TO THEIR FIELDS Electricity prices are also increased in Aqua is facing big issue in investment they are also using a lot of antibiotics to raise the shrimp and to get rid of diseases so people are facing many kind of health issues

Fixing issues on the importers end where they stop looking for cheapest deals is a way this can be combated, unfortunately middlemen will continue to take advantage in that situation as well. Accountability of the system which is supposed to support the ground level workers needs to be evaluated. Unfortunately, in countries like india these enforcing agencies are usually at the mercy of private organisations and corrupt government officials.
Shrimp industry employs these people.
Without which some would certainly starve.
However, Indian government needs to better protect labourers.

Why all of a sudden things in indian seafood industry,if you want our workers to get paid well let them have a car and couple of houses i urge and kindly request american consumers to pay atleast 10USD per pound for a shrimp for smaller sizes.

Please investigate seafoods or shrimps from Ecuador, Vietnam and Malaysia as well.
Most of the Shrimp exporters are doing value addition at processing area itself
May be happened to some area where less man power. Beheading may happen but not grueling condition. Proper Hygiene practice are followed other wise could not survive.
Some 10 years ago shrimps n lobsters were very delicious in Indian subcontinent throughout and in North east region rivers but these fishes taste bad .
