Decades ago, 1984 or so, I taught a rather large endowed blonde how to pass on Alligator Alley. We worked for Alamo rent a wreck and were moving big ass Cadillac cars from Ft. Lauderdale to Ft. Myers. Speed limit was 55 at the time - so passing was required if you wanted to get there this year. You brought back a really good memory of a fun weekend paid for by the boss. BTW those Caddys would barely do 75 - The minimum speed on that road in my opinion.

Traffic on the key road is appallingly bad as only a single lane each way. We wanted to go to Key West, but turned around at Big Pine Key as we were only averaging 15MPH average at the time (pre-covid) and it was going to take another two plus hours. We did discover the tru Key Lime pie on the way back and that was a big plus for us as Aussie tourists driving all the way down from Orlando that day but wanted to do the down and back in a day hence the turnaround. The traffic you guys had was sooo much better than what we had. Mind you, we started driving from LAX on that trip, did some 14000 miles. Love driving in the states, so much to see.

Depends when in the year you went. I went there in the summer and the roads were dead. But it was also unbearably hot so I don't blame people for not wanting to be there in the summer. I only went as we reserved a trip to the boy scout Sea Base there 3 years in advance and it was the only open time slot. Basically stayed on an island with only the food they prepacked for us, what we could fish, and about 8 jugs of water for the week. Still laugh that the only thing that will get you banned from the camp was carving german symbols into the trees. Real problem in the boy scouts. Can't go anywhere without seeing them.

Hey Ray! Hello to you and Mrs. Rain! Hope the little one is great. Bless you all. If your boat fever becomes unbearable, my Uncle had a SeaRay (Love the name right?) (it's meant to be) SeaRay SunDancer, I believe it was 27' or 37' can't remember. It had the weather deck helm (flying bridge) and the below decks helm for bad weather. I think 3 staterooms, main room, 2 heads and full galley - this was all below deck. On the top it had an exposed galley with 2 refrigeration drawers, warming drawer, and gas cook top. Swappable for electric for bad wind (plug in) sat on top the gas top if needed. Microwave below and larger fridge with another freezer separate. like 4-5 fishing stations, door for access to water for swimming, 2 live wells for caught fish and all kinds of nav, what ever was standard for early 90's. He sold it in 1996-97ish? It was so nice, I should have taken it. I regret that to this day. Hell I would live on it if I had it right now. I remember it was surprisingly fast for it's size too. I don't think you could ski behind it but with a tail wind maybe you could? It was more for enjoyable relaxation. We caught some CHOICE Salmon and Coho's out of Lake Michigan. In summer we would go to indiana, Michigan and all around Wisconsin Coast. Further north, the nicer it got and BIGGER fish! It was many good memories. Miss it so bad. Do it while the little one is young for the memories, He will never forget and your wife will love it, guaranteed.

Now this is a great intermission between all the car/repair videos I have queued up tonight! I understand the whole, car waits for the vacation to break down, thing...our Texas Suburban from back in the day, we bought it, put in a transmission, got a bunch of work done, it was perfect, then we went to Florida and the first night we parked near the ocean at Fort Myers Beach (Carousel Inn if you get there, it's cozy and classy and just far enough away from the pier to be quiet and pleasant), the battery grew an inch thick of blue fluffies and gave up. Couldn't even jump start it with zero gauge cables, had to tow it to a shop to get a battery swapped in. Before that trip was over we also ended up buying tires since the ones on it just couldn't handle all the vacation mileage.

You to learn how to fix things that go wrong fast on your boat because the walk home sucks if your engine dies out there. I would have loved to say Hello to you. When you were down by the chickens you were literally less than a block from my home. Of course in KW your pretty much within a block from everything. Please keep up the Amazing work it's entertaining and educational and you have a great since of humor. I have noticed that the difference between working on car engines there is a lot of swearing and cursing that is required to work on your boats diesel engines. Looking forward to your next video. BTW: Love the new front end you installed on your truck. Thats should make it deer proof.

The lovely bride and I just did a Key West getaway the weekend of the 11th! Sorry we didn't cross paths -- I would totally buy you and the missus a pitcher of something. Really strong sense of deja-vu while watching you make your way through the islands. Especially the tease with the visitor center -- after a few cups of good coffee in Homestead, I was fit to burst by the time we hit Key Largo. Hope you guys enjoyed some good sunsets and some good cocktails. Going from shoveling 5 inches of snow in MN to sweating through my shirt in KW was a bit of a shock. I caught myself a couple of times biting my tongue when I was going to complain about the heat & humidity -- seemed silly given how much we'd paid to enjoy exactly that!
Here's hoping you can find somebody knowledgeable and reliable to help you with that Check Engine light. Fingers crossed!

There were cougars (yeah, yeah the divorced type, too) around the southeast side of Venice in Sarasota County when I owned a home there until 2 years ago. ( I kinda miss Florida but way too many old people my age there).

The "Duval crawl" is a lot fun until about 2 am then you have to find a way to the hotel. Guy in the bushes was funny. I wonder how often he gets assaulted by big mean guys?
