Amber Benson is Tara. You may also remember her name from a couple of episodes of Supernatural. She was the leader of that small vampire group that tried to get by drinking cattle blood. I think it was season 2 or 3.

She has also written some fantasy books, etc. From her bio:
"Amber Benson is the author of the Echo Park Coven Novels and the Calliope Reaper-Jones Novels. She cocreated, cowrote, and directed the animated supernatural Web series Ghosts of Albion with Christopher Golden, which they followed with a series of novels, including Witchery and Accursed, and the novella Astray. Benson and Golden also coauthored the novella The Seven Whistlers. As an actress, she has appeared in dozens of roles in feature films, TV movies, and television series, including the fan-favorite role of Tara Maclay on three seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Benson wrote, produced, and directed the feature films Chance and Lovers, Liars and Lunatics."

Anthony (Giles) was definitely singing. He's been in musicals for years, and his older brother Murray Head was in the original cast of Chess ("One Night in Bangkok" became a pretty popular single in the 80's).
Apparently Anthony has also played Frank N. Furter in productions of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" -- oh, what I would pay to see clips from that! ❤

Tara's reaction is actually a transformative moment. Before that, the relationship between her and Willow was a metaphor for a lesbian relationship, with magic symbolizing sex. Here, we get a hint that she has actual sexual feelings for Willow, and the house punishes her for them.

    • @Girl4Music
      @Girl4Music Год назад

I felt like that was implied very early on in their relationship to be honest.
It was Willow that we didn’t know for sure on.
Or do you mean literally sexual feelings? Not just romantic ones.

    • @Nexusofgeek

@@Girl4Music the reaction was due to the fact the ghosts were punitive to sexual activity, I thought this was crystal clear. Hi Jayne! My least favorite episode of the season. As for your question about Tara/Willow, I remember being also "intrigued" by their reaction the first time I watched it. As Tara uses the word "disgusting", I'm sure that it's the spirit talking. Marvelous Kathryn Joosten's character used to abuse children letting them think they were "dirty" when any sign of affection that could lead to a sexual thought/gesture was displayed. I think that thanks to our current characters, we witness different stages of what had happened to the teenagers: simple affection/flirt/arousal/sexual intercourse/punishment/shame/death..The poor girl cutting her hair ("I'm bad" - same lexical field) is a strong example too. I don't think it's related to the Wicca condition here. Some people are more receptive than others, having more intuition etc. therefore being more exposed (remember Tara nailing Buffy wasn't herself). As for Giles, I think we've all been there!!!! Still are actually, what a voice, what a sexy guy!!! 😉

Not the best episode of the season, but I enjoy several aspects of it.
ASH 😅at the coffeehouse is gold.
    Various relationships...evolve.
Tara's reaction was because of the "poltergasm" effects - the spirits both caused excess sexual energy and also channeled the mean old lady's sadistic punishments for any sexual feelings. So both positive and negative reactions.
Tara is indeed hiding something...as with most characters, we'll learn more sooner or later...

I like to think of this episode as a big middle finger from the writers to the network, pointing out the hypocrisy of their homophobic prudery. Buffy and Riley have hot, sweaty sex for the majority of the episode, while Willow and Tara can't even hold hands.
Also, Buffy and Riley might have been fueling the energy, but it's a FRAT HOUSE. People must be having sex there all the time. I prefer to think that the "poltergasm" was triggered by something the Initiative did.

  • @ceceliam9014

The house was manifesting sexual energy, but also a great deal of shame because of the abuse the children experienced punishing them for sexual desire because it's "dirty". When Tara reacts to Willow's touch by recoiling it's the influence of the house making her feels shame for her desire for Willow.

This is my least favorite ep. of the season because the plot makes no sense. Poltergeists attack the frat house even though no one died. Some people experience a sexual high, others feel shame, some feel cold, some nearly drown and there are vines for some reason. It's all powered by Buffy & Riley have sex and interrupting makes it all go away. Nothing is resolved really, it's nonsense. There are some good moments as always: Giles singing, Spike's walking away. The fight between Xander and Anya seems forced though.

One of the poorer episodes of the whole series. The situation with Anya and Xander becoming somewhat tiresome, in that Anya is constantly pressurizing Xander for sex, we know she is a demon and doesn't understand human emotions and desires, and while it is as funny at first it is really overdone here. A very ropey plot, and a real filler of an episode which sums up much of S4 even though it does have some brilliant individual episodes it has bad ones too. So much better to come in the brilliant S5.
