I am desperate about getting rid of mold in my bathroom, and was just on the verge of buying this after watching the youtube that came up in a post of helpful household tips on Facebook, when it occurred to me they were requesting a lot of personal information, and decided to look for reviews first online. Again, thanks so much for taking the time to post this!
I saw the ad and taught it was fishy. But then, it went on listing the benefits and safety of the product and I thought of the tiles that could perhaps be useful for. It got me thinking. Then I remembered that the automated voice sounded awfully suspicious and not unlike the ones that scammers use for pre-recorded calls. I ran this search in the background and found your face matching the one in their clip. I'm glad your video was among the top ones. I hate to think how many people must sadly have fallen for the scam. It's pure fraud and exploits people for their time (watching), their money (paid), and misleading and falsified claims about endorsement by doctors.
I've just watched this ad and googled as the ad was for GroutShine yet the featured pen in the images says GroutPen - so I think someone is knocking off GroutPen. Glad to have this confirmed. Outrageous!
this is like those Martin Lewis adverts i keep seeing pop on up various sites saying hes either dead or has some bitcoin money making scheme that i cant miss out on

Saw the ad and wondered as it was a story and seemed like one of those formula things that lasts hours so you fall asleep before they tell you anything about cost, etc. Very grateful for your video pointing out it is almost certainly a scam.
Wow! RUclips showing their colours here. I don't see how this is anything other than a slam dunk and the ad should be removed immediately and the account banned? Dare to contemplate that RUclips is more interested in making money for itself than protecting genuine creators.
We (creators and viewers) are the product that RUclips makes money off of. The companies buying ad space are RUclips's costumers... We are not costumers but products.

I can't recall if your face was still on it though and I can't replay the advert. I'll check if it comes up again, which it's likely to do. But I hope you've been able to get somewhere with this. I would be livid too!! I am very grateful that you made this video though as it's just saved me from getting scammed. You assume that if something is advertised on RUclips that they've done the checks needed and it's all legit! Thank you Jake! I was impressed by the advertisement, and would have bought it if it were around $5. When I saw the very high price I decided to dig a little deeper. I put the name into my browser and right away your video came up. Thank goodness!! The way I got to the advertisement: I went onto win the HGTV dream home. There were an an "ad" to see why you should pour salt down your drain. I tapped it and got a list of good things to do. This was one of them.
It could even be worse Jake..Imagine some stranger setting up another RUclips Channel with your name & profile photo....and then going around placing obnoxious comments on other RUclips videos..It took a year before YT did anything about it...As far as I can see there is very little control in place...unless of course you sing a line or two of a well known song..then you get a copyright strike...When it comes to fake ads...one has only to look at Facebook ads...where well known T.V. personalities are being used & abused to promote fake cures, fake products etc...The reason why YT threatens the legal option is it knows most folks would be afraid to go down that route.
I got sucked in by the fancy ad for Groutshine, and as we needed to fix the bathroom grout so I went for it. A few weeks later I got the pen, but it didn't work very well. I ended up tearing off the applicator tip and pouring the paint into a little plastic lid, and used a fine artists pen to apply it, but it was still messy. These guys are making a fortune off gullible people. I only painted about 20% of the bathroom tile.

I wouldn't order from any unknown website but, seeing your this is a scam video further confirmed I shouldn't even investigate further. Sorry this happened to you. Hope things work out for you.
Had a similar thing happen with my video being used in an ad for a Lego whitening product. I contacted them and asked them to immediately relive my content from their ad or face legal action. Same type of scam as what you had your likeness used. In my case the company did remove it from the ad. The ad still would run but they didn’t use my content - only still had others from content they stole for their ads.

good old RUclips. Keeps turning the screw over wheel. Only yesterday I was watch a RUclipsr that had his video demonetized due to auto text not knowing a race tracks corner. RUclips really is a lawless company.
Yeah I’ve seen the dodgy ad too. This scam gets worse. Their website has Terms&Conditions. The small print suggests that the company - using California law - is called “GroutShine Grout Pen Inc.” Try as I might I can find no trace of such a company (perhaps a US-based fan can try US databases for you?) However their UK base is a serviced office in East London, not that I am suggesting anyone goes there, these could well be very dodgy people.
I just got this ad but in swedish (I am swedish so it made sense). It's odd that it's still up and apparently being translated into different languages.
Maybe you could try getting in contact with me real grout pen company. Explain how you had given a positive review and they are using that to sell a counterfeit product. Send RUclipss response etc. Maybe they will be interested in the situation and get legal with it😊
A month later, and the ad's still running. It seemed like such an obvious scam (the ad starts "This £46 pen...") that I had to look it up, and Google brought me here! Have you tried the Advertising Standards Authority?

Saw the GroutShine Video today in Australia. Went searching for more information and found your video renouncing it as a scam. I think the people running this scam are running a whole heap of different ones as I can hear the exact same voiceover on a knife sharpener.
Same here! Saw it today in Australia then googled the product. Glad it led me to this video! I think they said in the ad it was started by an Australian woman, tried to give the product a humble origin story - something about her creating the product to help her mother then it accidentally becoming a huge success online 😒. The voice over reminded me a little of an automated scam call. I decided to rewatch the same video to see what ad came up and it was a very similar one this time with a male voice over advertising a drone. I too suspect it's probably the same people behind a whole bunch of them. Come the fuck on RUclips, address this issue!

I’ve seen the advert and it is a scam - whenever you have reused video clips and some type of background narrative pulling at your heartstrings about someone’s poor mother suffering badly hence the need to “invent” the product. I do sympathise that your image rights have been abused and violated so blatantly and RUclips’s response is inadequate as usual.

Take legal action against RUclips. They have been told there is a scam add with your face on it and they are knowingly running the add anyway.
