    LYRICS (English Translation):
In the eastern sky, a bright red beacon shines
A new guide to mark the end of the dark loneliness
Even in despair, light the flames of your heart as many times as it takes
Now is the time! Is the time!
    Now in this moment
Is the time! Is the time!
    Coexist
Just now is the time! Is the time!
Sing to the you of tomorrow
    Come, the time is now
    Go for resistance! Resistance!
    Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow
    One heart
    If you believe
Advance! even if you follow a pathless road
    Forever! Forever!
    Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow
In the depths of your heart
A burning soul of steel, that is our resistance
    Wow, wow, wow, wow
    As long as life continues
    Never turn your back
    Today will form tomorrow
    Yes, our future
    On the way
    Resistance! Resistance!
    Stand up and shout!
    Justice forever!
    If you believe
    Advance The answer is here
    Forever! Forever!
    Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow
In the depths of your heart
A burning soul of steel, our resistance

Excellent reaction and analysis again, thanks. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.

This exact video is what got me hooked late 2022 when I first discovered them. I was fascinated by ..well.. everything. What i didn't realize is no amount of watching live videos could prepare me. When they took the stage in Houston last year, and I tried to record Gimme Chocolate (from the balcony) I was shaking and crying and couldn't hold the phone. We all build them up unrealistically of course but I wasn't prepared for the initial emotional hit to still be that strong!
Their stage presence is almost something you actually feel.
And in Dallas we were very close to the stage and the personal interaction they did was just so fun! Even though they've grown out of the little girl voices, and the newer choreo is more adult-like, they still do an awesome job of blending in the cutesy elements. They'll use cutesy voices when singing older songs, and have such a serious relentless energy yet also are hopping and smiling and in general just taking the kawaii up to 11 when the moment requires it.
True stage masters! True superstars for sure.

This song was a statement of determination to create a new genre of music that no one had ever done before, as an answer to the criticism of Babymetal at the time. It is now the song that closes the concert.🦊

Nice one fellas! I’m here for the Babymetal “Crop Circles” all day! 😂🤣 I think you meant circle pits 😉.
No matter how many times I hear this song, always gives me the chills! Your interpretation of the song is fairly accurate. The song is about finding the courage to forge your own path filled with challenges, to walk the “Road of Resistance” towards your goals and dreams.
And I agree, I love the youthful charm of early Babymetal, but their mature and elegant form of today is even better!
_New Babymetal listeners:_ “Aaaw they are cute and adorable”
_Crowd:_ “WALL OF DEATH! WALL OF DEATH!!” 😂

These days, Babymetal uses this song to close all their concerts. I was at the Oklahoma City show a week and a half ago and when I heard those first sounds indicating RoR was fixing to play, I almost cried. I was SOO Happy to get to see this live and sooo excited that I was going to get to participate in this song!! The Crowd is so much part of this song, so if you are there, you ARE part of the song! Sugoi!!
And I wanted in that Wall of Death soooo bad....but I have a bad back and by the time this song rolled around I had been standing for over 6 straight hours and could barely move!! Only thing keeping me upright was the beam I was leaning against!! Oh the pain we endure for the things we Love! LoL!!
    More Babymetal Always!!

Another great reaction to a truly iconic performance. I completely agree with all you had to say in your thoughtful comments. Especially about how they really fit the classic rock star role as adults. And yeah the drums in this performance are some of the most powerful I've ever heard...and I used to play and have always loved the drums.

    ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏴 🏴 🏴
"Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) -
This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) on January 10th, 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000.
Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama.
Su first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old.
She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL.
You can see how good she is at controlling a crowd, even here, when she had just turned 17.
She will be celebrating her 27th birthday in a few days (She was born on December 20th, 1997).
Just to note, the Kamis from the West have performed for ALL shows (inside and outside of Japan) since the last Eastern Kami Band appearance (BABYMETAL RETURNS - THE OTHER ONE) on January 28th and 29th in 2023.

I'd say "rallying the crowd" is a better description than "puppet masters" because it is about leading everyone _together_ towards the goal, including Babymetal. The context is sincere, they aren't being manipulative. Their call-and-response chants at the end are "WE ARE BABYMETAL" and that's not self-congratulation, it is "we are all together in this;" they are inviting everyone there to join in as part of what BABYMETAL is about right there and then. For the people who were there, they knew it, they felt it, they were living it. We can even feel a bit of it watching the concert video years later.

  • @MacTaipan
    @MacTaipan 8 дней назад +12

BABYMETAL‘s lyrics are often open to interpretation, but I do believe that there is an autobiographical component to this. I think the untrodden path that is forged against all resistance describes their fight against hostility and doubt in both the camps of metalheads and idol fans. They followed their own advice and never gave up, and look where they are now.

I think this video is the best of "Lord of Resistance". This video is the encore song of a solo live performance. It was an encore performance that included some intense dancing. Even so, the singing and dancing was amazing. BABYMETAL is great, but the "KAMI BAND" backing them up is even better. All the instrumental players in the "KAMI BAND" in this video have world-class techniques, which makes this video even more amazing. I also think the stage composition and BABYMETAL's action were great.

Perfect classy rebuttal to the gatekeepers who dismissed BM as a gimmick. Believe me, this particular clip also left many jaded metalheads teary-eyed in their reaction videos during the second half of last decade.
More impressively, RoR wasn't even officially released yet at the time of this Legend 2015 gig (Saitama Super Area, Jan 10 2015). The song had first debuted live at the finale of their tour-ender two months earlier (O2 Academy Brixton, Nov 8 2014), where it was provisionally titled The One (RUclips has the fancams).
Subsequently, BM included the full audio as a downloadable bonus with the limited box set edition of their "Live At Budokan: Red Night" video album (Jan 7 2015). From these two sources alone, the 20,000 attendees at Saitama somehow worked out how to join the crowd-participation parts. (As for whether the Wall of Death/Circle Pit are spontaneous, well, all three BM girls had gestured for them before debuting the song at O2 Academy Brixton. So the cue had started from there.)
BM then proceeded to release the song as a digital single on Feb 1 2015, & made this flawless performance its official live video on May 7 2015.
Legend 2015 was their triumphant homecoming after advancing overseas (Sonisphere UK, HeavyMTL, Lady Gaga tour) since July 2014. The startling growth & confidence in BM's & Kami Band's showmanship was startling -- their previous Japan solo shows were the Budokan Red Night/Black Night (Mar 1-2 2014) if you want to compare -- except their concerts would get even better over the next two years. Check out their pro-shot concert videos at MetRock 2015 (May 24 2015; full set available at Dailymotion), Makuhari Messe (Jun 21 2015), Yokohama Arena (Dec 12-13 2015), Wembley Arena (Apr 2 2016), Tokyo Dome (Sep 19-20 2016).

Thanks again guys! They are called circle pits and mostly form spontaneously but at least in the Japan shows there are often "floor managers", super fans who kind of organize people and help clear the floor for a wall of death or a circle pit. This song remains a mainstay of their concerts and is performed in almost every show, often as a closer.

Road of Resistance: Live In Japan 🇯🇵 @"Saitama Super Arena (SSA):-
"Road of Resistance" is a song by the Japanese Kawaii metal band Babymetal. The song was released worldwide as a digital single on February 1, 2015 by Toy's Factory, serving as the lead single off the international re-release of the album Babymetal, as well the opening track from Metal Resistance. Su-Metal was 10 when she performed with Karen Girls at the SSA (SAITAMA SUPER ARENA). The Arena that night holds about 20000 Babymetal fans but when you see the centrepiece Island and the two curve bridge, it can hold up to 30000 or even up to 40000 depends on the configuration of Babymetal concert for each tour they performed. This song is co-written by Dragonforce with Herman Li and Sam Totman plays the guitar 🎸 solos, but Kami Band live show is brutal and tight. This is a classic Power Metal genre or speed metal as some might refer to. Bands like Dragonforce, Helloween and even Sabaton do power metal genre. Arkadia from Metal Galaxy Album is the successor to Road Of Resistance. At 17 Su-Metal alongside Yuimetal and Moametal who is 15 at that time, gave a perfect 👌 performance on how live show should be. This performance alone cemented my love ❤️ and appreciation for Babymetal. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘😍💕🌸🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult. .
    Babymetal singles chronology:-
    •"Megitsune" (2013).
    •"Road of Resistance" (2015).
    •"Gimme Chocolate!!" (2015).
    Background and release:-
"Road of Resistance" includes guest appearances by DragonForce guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman.
The song would be used to mark the beginning of the band's lore, Metal Resistance Episode III, at the concert held on November 8, 2014 at O2 Brixton Academy in London, which was also the final tour date for the band's Babymetal World Tour 2014.
A trailer for the song was released on January 5, 2015, integrating footage from the debut performance of the song in London. The song was first released as a digital bonus track off the live album Live at Budokan: Red Night, with limited editions of the album containing a download card with a code to download the song at no additional charge. The song was later released as a dedicated digital single on the iTunes Store on February 1, 2015.
Li and Totman are featured on guitars, although they are listed as featured artists in various regions of the re-release of the album Babymetal, on which the song appears as a bonus track, mainly in the United Kingdom.
    Composition:-
Rolling Stone magazine described the song as "power metal" with "shiny pop harmonies". Rock Sound called the song "everything we’d expect from [Babymetal] with a bit of Dragonforce’s exhilarating, flame-fingered guitar added in for good measure." Matt Evans of The List called the song an "empowering hyperspeed anthem". According to Kadokawa, the song consists of twin shred guitars courtesy of Li and Totman, with a dynamic sound derived of melodic speed metal. The lyrics are described as a narrative on the Metal Resistance, which the band adopted on their world tour. It has also been considered the "final stage" of Babymetal and the prologue to Metal Resistance, and a transition performance that demonstrates the band's growth from the previous album.
According to Su-metal, the song refers to the Metal Resistance lore, described as "the story of Babymetal traveling across the world in the hopes of creating a new metal to unify the world as we break through the barriers of language and borders. In the middle of the song there is a part where we go, ‘Wow, Wow’ and this is where our fans from around the world can sing with us at our concerts. I hope people will listen to our album and support us at our shows." Yuimetal stated in an interview with Metal Hammer that "Road of Resistance" is her favorite song from Metal Resistance, explaining that it "has been performed at so many concerts, so a lot of memories are jam-packed. The lyrics are positive, the sound is so cool, and [the] dance is so powerful."
•Recorded by Watametal and Adrian Breakspear.
    •Mixed by Ettore Rigotti
    Personnel:-
    •Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) - Main vocals (2010 - Present)
•Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) - Backing vocals (2010 - Left Babymetal in 2018 due to undisclosed health issues)
    •Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) - Backing vocals (2010 - Present)
•Momoko Okazaki:- On April 1, 2023, during the Babymetal concert "Babymetal Begins: Black Night" at the Pia Arena MM in Yokohama, Okazaki was officially announced as their new member with the stage name "Momometal". Later that year, her vocals were featured in the spoken section of Babymetal's digital single "Metali!!".
•Kei Kobayashi (Kobametal / Kxbxmetal / Kitsune of Metal God) - executive producer, lyrics.
    •Miki Watanabe (Mk-metal) - lyrics.
    •Norikazu Nakayama (Norimetal) - music.
    •Nobuaki Miyasaka (Mish-Mosh) - music, arrangement.

•Herman Li - guitar (courtesy of Electric Generation Recordings Ltd. and Warner Music Japan Inc.)
•Sam Totman - guitar (courtesy of Electric Generation Recordings Ltd. and Warner Music Japan Inc.)
    Saitama Super Arena:-
"Saitama Super Arena (さいたまスーパーアリーナ, Saitama Sūpā Arīna) is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Chūō-ku, Saitama, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It opened preliminarily on May 5, 2000, and then officially opened on September 1 of the same year. Its spectator capacity is 36,500 at maximum settings,[3] making it the second-largest indoor arena in the world. The main arena capacity is between 19,000 and 22,500".
    •Owner: Saitama Arena Corp.
    •Capacity: 36,500 (stadium setting) 18,000 (arena setting).
The arena was designed by Dan Meis, who at the time was working for architecture firm Ellerbe Becket, together with Nikken Sekkei. Meis's design was selected as a result of an international design competition. The arena features a gigantic movable section of seating which can reduce capacity for smaller events and create a more intimate setting.
It is a favorite venue for puroresu (Japanese professional wrestling) and mixed martial arts (MMA). It has also hosted other sports events such as boxing, basketball, volleyball, tennis, ice hockey, and gymnastics. It is the only Japanese arena equipped especially for American football.
It formerly housed the John Lennon Museum, which displayed John Lennon memorabilia and closed in 2010.

The Dragonforce guys have no writing credit. Though the songwriters were clearly inspired by Dragonforce when writing the song, and they played the guitars on the album version of the song. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻

Cool reaction men. I would say this is more an Anthem than just a song. There is an epic version of this song with both Kami Bands onstage playing at the same time along with 5 ladies (Metal Galaxy concert I think).
