- Welcome back to Old Skull Garage! In this epic third installment of my Mercedes SLK 230 project, my so-called "cheap car" is quickly turning into a money pit! When I bought this SLK 230 for just £490, I thought I had a bargain, but things are escalating fast.
In this episode, I’m tackling a complete suspension overhaul, replacing all the worn-out wishbones, control arms, and more. To give the car a sportier edge, I’m also fitting a set of JOM coilovers. But that’s not all! Every hub and bearing on all four corners needs replacing, adding even more to the costs of this big build.
The challenges don’t stop there-getting the seized driveshaft out turned into a grueling, day-long job. Despite the setbacks, this is an epic episode filled with hands-on work, frustrating moments, and the determination to turn this cheap SLK into something special.
