- I found an old K5 Jimmy that had been sitting for a decade or so in a man's yard. I bought it and am working through some of the problems I am having with it. One of them is the rear window did not work. In this video I figure out what's going on with it and fix it. Hopefully this will help someone dealing with the same problem.
Great determination, I learned a lot
Thanks for watching Randy I appreciate it!
Make sure your guides on each side are aligned. If they're off, they can bind up the glass. There are 2 bolts on each side, at the top and bottom. All four bots have an adjustment.
I'll be sure to check it out. I actually thing the guide bushings are on their way out too

I think if you add two relays to the back window it should help. Just rolled mine down after sitting 2 years and it's stuck now lol
Mine ended up being a poorly charging alternator. Swapped it out and a new belt and the window cruises now. The glass gets hung up on the motor sometimes so I have to hop out and push on the glass a little then go up and it clears it. I gotta figure a real fix for that but it's topless for the summer so I'll let in it ride haha
Hey dude I can tell you it has a safty switch on the left latch. It won't go up when the tailgate is down but it will roll down. Just a little FYI for that blazer
Yup I think you can adjust it slightly but I guess it's to keep the rear glass from shattering if it doesn't make it all the way down before opening the tailgate
Ya it was that cable on My Jimmy gets twisted up I ordered an extra theyre disco ...Enjoy youre videos👍
Thanks! I'm slowly getting em out as I edit them. Hoping I can get caught up one of these days!
my back window is doin the clicking noise.....guess ill start by testing the alternator. good video thanks
Hopefully that'll help ya out
Thanks for your video very informative.were did you get the window motor?
Thanks for checking it out. I forget but I think any of the older truck restoration companies like LMC or Brothers would carry it.
Okay the fuel tank ease of access door….how difficult was it to make that happen or did you buy it already done??
It was already done but it's simple. Just look at the underside and get your measurements right.
I have the same problem . How do you call the cable please??
It should just be a window regulator cable or something like that.
I’m a k5 rescue service as well
Mines doing the same thing.
I didnt use it all summer cuz the top was off. Threw the top back on and the dang window stopped working again so I had to mess with it. I remember when I had my poppops k5 in high school it used to give me problems too.
Got a 84 suburban is it the same motor
It could be a 305 I guess but more than likely yes it's a 350. Yours I would imagine has a carb but I may be wrong.
My tailgate still wont open even if i pull on those cables
Make sure the cables are releasing the latch, they could have disconnected or something.
