    You create an aquarium that looks like its natural habitat in nature

      Thank you! That’s exactly what I like in my tanks. I want everything to look natural like if you could take a picture at the bottom of a lake or river and try to recreate it. Thanks for watching 😁👍

    Going to try this on a sample section of val
    I like it flowing next to the filter output but it does get knotted and needs a trim

    Interesting. I have had a short plant that I thought was dwarf sag., but perhaps it is something else. I never have to trim it and I have it in 2 5.5 gal tanks. It looks like a val/sag and sends runners.

    • @pattys_aquatics
      @pattys_aquatics  Год назад +2

      I’m sure it is dwarf sag. They typically stay shorter, especially in smaller tanks like yours. With higher light and nutrient levels it can grow taller. Mine in most of my tanks get around a foot tall. I had some in a 2.5 gallon at one point and they never got taller than 4 inches or so. It’s a nice versatile plant. Thanks for watching 😁👍

      for whatever reason my dwarf sag does not seem to want to grow. in gravel with some aqua soil, alot of high flow near the substrate where it is planted tho. @@pattys_aquatics

      @@pattys_aquatics yes I do. Tropica specialized. Root tabs too. It seems even my dwarf hair grass is growing in better. Blyxa came in pretty good. I feel it’s either they don’t like the gravel or the high flow from the power head.

      @@jorykozak1239 hmmm I have heard of some people not being able to grow it , whether their water itself is lacking something , I’m not sure. Is there an area where there isn’t much flow to try to plant it to see if there is a difference?

    definately liked this very much!, hey question? im in the beggining stages of planning my 1st walstad tank, would dwarf sag be a good choice as some of the plants for it? any thoughts of plants that would work well, i would appreciate the help🙂have a great weekend patty!👍

    • @pattys_aquatics
      @pattys_aquatics  Год назад +1

      Thanks Jeff, I like dwarf sag for it , I have tanks similar to Walstads. They grow fast which help with the nitrogen cycle and they can fill in a tank. The only downfall I can think assuming your using dirt with a cap is when they multiply so much and you want to take some out . Doing so will kick up some of the dirt layer which sucks in the moment but does settle. Hope that helped. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend as well 😁👍

      @pelhamsaquatics Год назад +1

      @@pattys_aquatics thanks for that! im gonna be on the lookout for some dwarf sag, ill be using organic potting soil with a much deeper cap of sand, hopefully it wont allow too much mess! i have heard this from a few folks that say the walstads are nice but to watch out for breaking to capped top.i might be jumping the gun as i am a total newbie with plants, thanks again🙂

      @@pelhamsaquatics No problem and have fun with it. That’s the part of this hobby I love… to try new things… I used sort of what Father Fish used for dirt, made a mix of organic potting soil and organic compost then added some of the supplements he uses in his. I did 5 of my tanks this way 3 with a pea gravel cap and 2 with sand. I definitely get less mess with the sand cap but like the pea gravel as well because all the broken down waste can get to your dirt and basically turn into fertilizer . Have fun with it😁👍

      You know I’m not 💯 sure but I don’t think so. I’ve had them floating after trimming for quite awhile at times and never seen any root. Would be curious to test that though😁👍

    Same way to trim Vals. Funny how myth pervades that you can't cut the leaves...

      Very true, a few years ago when I first got it I didn’t think it was something that could be trimmed till I did some research. Thanks for watching 👍😁
