      @@garageaquatics2023 thanks Ron, it was a cool stream with NC . As far as the swords I think growing them for sale in a dirted tank is doable since they won’t get large. Dirted pots is another great option, that way you don’t need to deal with pulling plants.

    Can we built a goldfish dirted tank??? And can we use undergravel filter in a dirted tank?? Plzz make a reply

    • @pattys_aquatics
      @pattys_aquatics 7 дней назад

      @@santoshbayalkoti7237 you can absolutely do a dirted tank with goldfish the only major thing to consider is the type of plants to use that they won’t eat. I personally would do swords or crypts and try to establish stem plants like Ludwiga for them to get a good root system before introducing the goldfish. Undergravel filters I think would not work. With dirt being the bottom layer it would push that soil up into the water column. You need to leg cap to seal it in the substrate.

    Just found your channel, and I love the vibe! I recently noticed some tiny planeria in my planted snail tank, with how small they are I don’t think they pose a real threat yet, but I WAS planning to stock the tank with shrimp soon! Very glad I waited 😅 Just about every medication says it’ll kill snails as well, I’m quite attached to these little guys, so I’m very tentative to add any chemicals. So far I’ve evicted my little dudes to a quarantine tank, the plan is to use a planeria trap for any hitch hikers then tear down and decontaminate the hell out of the main tank. Having to restart the cycle sounds like a pain and a half though. I’m excited to see if you have any snail survivors with Panacure!

    Love the video.... 2 years ago I set up a deep substrate setup and currently test 0 nitrates, which I love. The plants are doing awesome as well. I did set up my deep substrate a little differently than some. My first layer is about a half inch of steer manure mixed with Father Fish suppliment and a little peat. After the manure, I put in about an inch and a half of river muck which I get from a sandy area along the river here. On top of the river muck I add a layer of Eco Complete/Fluval Stratum mix. Then I cap it with an inch and a half of all-purpose gravel.

    You shouldn't use febendazole on your tanks if you want to ever keep snails in them again. I used the stuff on one of my tanks ONE TIME and snails I put in 2 years later still die. ("pest" snails seem to have built up a resistance to the stuff, though. Only the ornamental snails die) The medicine apparently is drawn into the tank's silicone sealant and continues to leech out of it for many months to even years. Betel nut extract is completely safe.

      Thanks for that information! I used febendazole a couple weeks ago ( I filmed this about a month ago) and yeah my “pest” snails have not been affected. It’s good to know though in case I decide to get something other than pest snails not to put them in those tanks. 😁👍

    I fell rather like you; as much as I favor a natural tank, sometimes one must use more extreme measures as a last resort. Once the issue has been taken care of, the balance can eventually be restored.

      @@Manormouse-04 I agree with you completely. I definitely have tried to do everything as natural as possible and I love everything about it but like you said sometimes you have to take alternative measures because we don’t have the ecosystem of a natural body of water, there is nothing to kill and control the planaria and sometimes must take balance into our own hands unfortunately
