My claim from start to finish took 7 months. Got 80%. Other than submitting through a VSO I did everything myself. The best advice i have to offer is don’t check every day until you’re at decision phase. You’ll drive yourself crazy.
Thanks for the advice I did the same thing you did. Haven’t even talked to my VSO since I met him. Learned everything I had to do on my own got my DBQ and Nexus from my VA doctor and neurologist. Been 3 months and have 1 CP done already 2 more to go. I was checking everyday for the first month but I go days without thinking about it now. Day by day 🙏🏼
I refused my C&P exam because my DBQ was actionable and sufficient. Then yesterday they asked me for 2 documents that I already submitted to them. They confirmed they already had those documents and told me I was fine. I pray to the heavens that whoever is in charge of evidence-gathering isn't the one in charge of rating my claim! I filed a fully developed claim, they just need to pay attention to the evidence I submitted.
@@hightoneshoneybadger7015you have much to learn on what an actionable and sufficient DBQ is and the 38 cfr regulation that clearly spells it out that your private DBQ MUST be accepted WITHOUT FURTHER EXAMINATION.
I swallowed the fully developed claim line and went the extra mile on digging up evidence. I'm sure it will help me in the end but it apparently isn't making the process go any faster. Filed in October, it took one month to get to step 5 and it's been their ever since. Worrying doesn't seem to help.
My last 4 took 3 months start of claim to finish. Father in law had 6 claims, 2.5 months. Both of us had everything awarded. Solid evidence is key. Be patient, expect 6 months.
Thus far I feel fortunate. I submitted a claim for multiple things on June 20, 2024 and it was partially decided on November 6th, 2024, with a few deferrals. The deferred claims completed on November 22nd, 2024. From start to finish it was 156 days. I went from 30% to 90% (91% VA math). I submitted a HLR for the denied claims on December 6th, 2024. I don't anticipate seeing any decisions from that for a while. I also submitted a supplemental claim for my back (previously rated at 20% since my ETS in 2006) on August 12th, 2024. I received a decision on December 20th, 2024 which increased my back rating from 20% to 40% (now at 94% VA math so still at 90%). This was 131 days. The kicker is the supplemental claim is still open. My decision letter stated, "You may be entitled to a higher evaluation for this condition pending an exam clarification. We will address this issue again on a subsequent rating decision at a later date when this evidence is available. At this time we are granting the highest evaluation based on the available evidence at this time.". Fingers crossed!!

My claim(s) took over 9 months for a decision last year. Filed on 7 March 2024 and claim(s) final decision was 10 Dec 24. Now, some supplemental claims I filed were resolved pretty quickly.
Same, here. I escalated my sinusitis claim for HLR. They responded by discovering an “error”, requested an additional exam, and it’s been months now. Filed back in May 2024.
I filed a claim 10 days ago. This morning FedEx leaves an envelope, no phone call, no email, nothing until the envelope. Today is Wednesday, VES took the liberty of scheduling my C&P Monday at 11:30. It’s a 1 hour drive to, and one hour drive from. I call VES, no surprise, you need to be at your C&P, it’s the only appointment available in the next 60 days. I already have a medical procedure scheduled with a Community Care Provider the morning of the C&P, took 3 1/2 months to get. I called the CC Provider, the next available appointment is in June. Now I have to make a choice, no show at the C&P, probably result in a denial, or wait until June for Community Care. Company policy is all time off must be submitted 14 days in advance. I had to ask for the entire day, not just the morning. Manager says he needs to talk to those up the food chain since the request is out of policy. I am not sure why C&P’s can’t be scheduled with input from the Veteran, and less than 3 business days in advance.
Question about HLR.. Is it normal to have multiple C&P Medical Opinion review only exams during the process? I’m on my second Med review now. Has anyone else experienced this?
Filed April 2023, go decision in August, immediately filed supplemental got decision in December. Then filed in January 2024 for new claims, got decision in September and immediately filed for HLR, it’s 2025 still waiting for decision. I’ll be filing final claim in March.
I applied for benefits one month after retiring and all my claims were denied. I continued to submit for benefits and continued to be denied. Eighteen years later they approve my foot conditions. I am still in the fight because my issues of record happened when I was in service. The VA has been nickel and dimming me for 28 years and I found a way to fight back. This year may be my year.
I filled my BDD claim back in June (ret 1 Nov)and still don’t have a rating. Everyone else I know that retired got their rating 2 weeks after they retired smh
BDDs are a complete different path, not a normal. The VA usually say within 120 days after retirement. So if you finished on 1 Nov, then that's might get closed end of Jan 2025. As long as they don't ask for more C&Ps or evidence. Then you'll still be waiting for a DFAS audit before backpay is issued. Other stuff that matters is how busy your assigned regional office, as that is who will oversee the process for you. Either way, good luck and I hope you get rated properly.
Filed my claim in Jan '24, C&P in March, decision in May. ...then it took 7 months to get my backpayment because they mailed a check instead of direct deposit, which was stolen. 😂
Mine took 8 months for a partial. Where they rejected a bit. Tracking the higher review is averaging 950 days?? However.. it may be longer than that. Gooooood luuuck!!

I filed a claim or someone filed a claim on my behalf 20 years ago. They denied it and approved two items at 0%, I found documents to prove them wrong 19 years and 7 months later. My ass filed a supplemental claim and now waiting. Frustration & anger aren’t close to describing my feelings.
I have a denial from 1984, C-File shows the C&P examiner said it was not service connected as there was no diagnosis in service. I finally received a copy of my medical records, it was noted 3 times by the Infirmary, and was noted on my discharge physical. To add insult to injury, the C&P exam was 2 weeks after I separated from Active Duty.
So what now. Now that we found these documents? They stated there’s no records and I found the records for claim one. The second denial said it doesn’t seem chronic and years later, it is chronic. I really don’t know what to do anymore.
@@MrGarnettmiller NPRS said my Medical Records were unavailable, had I not filed a FOIA for my C-File, I still would not have them. If I am told just suck it up, I will file a supplemental and point it out.
