Pretty sure jesse just drew a barbar from jimmy's deck and they just had them swap back to their decks after they figured what's happening and forced jimmy to draw barbar from his own deck. If jimmy used any important cards they would've definitely taken them out from his deck and returned jesse's cards back to jesse's deck, konami isn't that stupid. But yeah what they did here wasn't a complete fix since jimmy basically saw everything in jesse's deck so this game shouldn't have counted which is still a disaster outcome in it's own right tbh. There was nothing they could've done really to prevent anyone from getting angry except preventing the deck switch from happening in the first place. Maybe they will enforce better rules for that in the future

I cannot comprehend why they didn’t just nullify that game and give an extension - like that’s crazy. I mean at any other table I would assume that accepted gamestate would not be the ruling
MTG judge here. This actually happened at a regular event I was judging. Same deal. Players had the same sleeve and a mirror match up. How I fixed it (because there are obviously no prescribed fixes for that) was the following. Note the position of every card on the field (Graveyard, exile/Banish, field, hand). Each player then gets their own deck back. Reconstruct the field based on your notes (which you know both players can do because they play the mirror, and you saw both players hand as the judge). Play on from there. The end result is a totally legal board state, with the game unaltered. The only corrupted element is one players knows 1 card out of the 60 his opponent plays. Which is the best we can get realistically
Yeah because i supposed no one tutored the other players deck. But if someone suddenly decide to fetch and see the whole opponent deck what could you do ? This information is forever in their heads.

What i would probably do to negate the unjust advantage would be to provide each player with the information of their opponent's deck. Its not policy supported, because there is no policy on the subject, but that would probably be what i would do. Id have to think about it and double check for sanity with the othet judges on staff.

It honestly seems like jimmy intentionally swapped the decks when you take into account how long he took going through jesse's deck, he got to see the entire deck of his opponent on top of the already massive advantage of the game state not being taken back to before the deck swap, the fact that the game wasnt automatically voided once they realised the decks had been swapped is just baffling
Or jimmy was trying to find the card he was looking for, couldn't find it and then realized that it wasn't his deck? Like Jesse said this was a stressful match. The only thing stupid was that judge call of trying to repair a literal irreparable game state.

If the positions were reversed Jessie may have taken just as long or longer before noticing. What the judge should have done was reverse the game state to before they swapped decks, before drawing. Reshuffle then re-draw
Perhaps konami should have the players be in separate blocks (example block A and block B), players from block A use Red Sleeves and players from block B use Blue Sleeves.
Dude I still have no idea why Konami forces people to use their sleeves at Worlds. At least make 4 sets of sleeves so no one will get confused. If a matchup has people with the same sleeves, have 2 refs watch one duelist swap sleeves before the match.

If you are on stream, someone else should be shuffling your Deck as a courtesy, like the judge/staff watching you. Would reduce blunders other than this on stream.
It happened during a simultaneous search and most damningly, at the match for going to Worlds. Straight should have been either a game loss for Nguyen, or if they absolutely have to stream the Duel, let Jesse get the same amount of information, then start Siding for Game 4, reset and restart.
i can understand how this can happen, sometimes you're used to your opponent shuffling your deck, and you wait for them to finish and you put it in your deck zone after they're done. the judge call can screw off though, i'm not even a good ygo player and i wouldn't try to get it back to that state, but who knows what time constraints they had anyways.
What Konami should do is instead of using the same sleeves in the finals. Why don’t they just do a red sleeves and blue sleeves? 1st player is red and the 2nd player is blue. So that way it doesn’t make the players confused which deck is theirs.
That should be a tournament thing where you and your opponents switch decks and try and figure out each others strategies, and to prevent people building unusable decks make it the same deck you have to enter the actual tournament with so it comes down to what the goal is with the deck

Jimmy placed his deck down first, knew where it was and was waiting. he then grabbed Jesse's deck TURN IT to face the right directly and then cut his own deck for Jesse to take knowing in his hand he had a way to scope out the cards in that deck He then cuts his own deck PUTTING IT where Jesse put his deck in the process during the cut and does not even let Jesse grab it but places it in the deck spot himself. This is 100% cheating.
Why are they giving both players the same sleeves, extra deck and all. That's so dumb. There's probably a better way to do this while eliminating both chances of marking and chances of... mixing up your deck with your extra deck or with your opponent's deck ._.

This exchange card effect got errata'd so much, it swap deck, not card in hand anymore huh.
Crazy idea: a card like chicken game, where it's a field spell each player can activate, that swaps your deck with your opponent Uno style.
