I can definitely recommend swapping the laces out. My version of the Endorphin Pro 3's came with the same laces which feel more like camping cord. Swapped them out for softer oval laces and it's now my fav shoe of 2022!
The PowerRun + insoles are absolutely amazing !!! I even switch one out with the EVA midsole in the Endorphin Edge which takes that trail monster to NEXT LEVEL cushy goodness !!!
Really excited when I saw you'd got hold of this one! Love all the comparisons, best review I've seen of them yet 👍 I'm definetly going to be getting a pair at some point. My Shift 2's are still going strong and they work great for me, but looking forward to a slightly more forgiving update!!!!
First run in them tonight. They’re surprisingly lightweight given their mass. Comfortable straight out of the box but I would say they’re quite a slow shoe. They’re nice but you’ve got to almost work against them to build pace.
I have 32 miles in the V3. They feel great so far. Great for recovery days and for steady miles. Super helpful shoe for high mileage weeks. My feet feel great because of the high stack. I loved the V1. It soaked up the miles. The V3 is such a significant improvement with the lower weight and softer feel.
@@yankaitan8648 They are very different. The V1 was super plush but a little snug in the forefoot. The V3 is a lot more minimal, comfortable but not plush.
I have only ever ran in V1 and the midsole felt like a dead block of rubber. It didn't make it to 50 miles before I donated it to the Goodwill. Glad it has improved 😊 Meanwhile, the Novoblast 3 is the Kid Dynamite of daily trainers for me. Thanks for the review.
Hi edd 👊 , love my triumph 20 working brilliantly for me 😀 , it would be very interesting to see what is difference between the shift and triumph ride is but think it would just be heel stability , a lot of people think the guide 15 is a better shoe to ?? So three interesting shoes
The PWRUN+ insole of my saucony Ride 15’s lost all of its initial softness and bounce after about 125 miles and now feels quite firm underfoot. I see they’ve used the same insole here in the shift 3 so something to consider.
Great review thanks. I have these and totally agree. My first run in them was a half marathon distance at a decent pace. They are my easy/recovery/long run shoe and very happy with them so far. I prefer them to my old glycerins.
I may check this out after my NB MoreV4 die out. Just did a 12 minute PR in the half marathon this past Saturday and they have plenty of life left in them!
With this shoe, I don't run - I glide Before this, I had Saucony Axons.. they were worn out AF. I tried other shoes that did not have the PWRRUN and the 4mm drop - BOOM. Could not go in them for more than a few km without feet hurting. Point is I will only do this kind of shoe from the time I tried Axons. I like these a BIT more than the Axons but the Axons are excellent too
The shoe looks absolutely gorgeous (and I liked the feel of the shift 2), but I'm better off with slightly lower stack shoes, so no plans to get it just yet... It's good to hear that the outsole seems to be better than on the ride 15, which doesn't have great grip in the wet, and shows significant wear on the lateral side of the fore/midfoot rubber after only a few runs.
I made the mistake of trying on the first generation Endorphin Shift on a couple of different occasions, after also trying on the Endorphin Speed. My initial impression of the Shift was a bad counterfeit of the Speed. It felt heavy, clunky, with a wooden or corky feel in the sole without any spring or resilience. Like a knockoff that nearly nailed the look of the Speed, but failed in every other respect. Even heavily discounted to around $50 about a year ago, it wasn't appealing. I should give the Shift 3 another try.
For cleaning your shoes.. use a toothbrush and some soap. Do several rounds. Keep scrubbing until all the stains get cleaned up. Put a small towel in the shoe so you dont soak it too much. I usually only clean the white shoes that i wanna wear for nicer occasions. Like the puma velocity nitro 2 creme! Haha
Stuff that! Way to much hard work to get a running shoe clean that will only get dirty again. A shoes dirt and grime is like a badge of honour. I had the zoom x invincible in the lovely white Leeds United kit after 2 runs they are more like my dad's stained grey y fronts...
Good review. I picked up the all white version. I had the Speed 2 and was surprised by the Shift 3. The Speed and Pro have PwrRunPB vs. PwrRun in the Shift; the latter is much firmer and felt strange after being used to the softer (almost mushy?) Speed 2s. But I've actually come to like the firmer ride. I also had to get used to the Speed Roll rocker; it felt weird at first, especially while walking in the shoe. After 35 miles I'd say it's a solid shoe. I do want to try the Speed 3s though; that shoe has some serious "does everything well" potential, whereas the Shift 3 is limited to long and slow runs.
I have the full Endorphin rotation for 2022-23 (also have the Escalante racer from 21 and the brilliant sen 8 in the mix) and I have to say I am enjoying the shift3 (it replaced the Boston 10) more than the speed 3 this generation. In fact, if I was to start from scratch I would probably have missed out on the speed 3 .. not sure I just find the shift and pro so good this year that there is much more overlap. Yes that groove picks up pebbles .. and over the halloween, plenty of lolly sticks about.
On a cost per mile basis it's very hard to beat saucony shoes ..as a long time former saucony user I never wore a pair out..my feet always come out on the losing end of that contest..
Did the first run in my pair last week, 28 km straight out of the box and very comfortable! I still run in a pair of the OG Shift, it's indestructible (at 800 km now, no significant wear and midsole still feels good)... The 3 is certainly a bit softer and the speedroll is smoother. Overall a solid upgrade, especially with the lower weight! I'm curious whether the lighter foam will affect the durability of the midsole. If it's nearly as good as that of the first version I'd be more than happy, Totally agree with you that the laces aren't very good though, the only flaw of the shoe I've found so far!
Another fab review Ed. Sounds tempting though the Shift 2 is available for 69.99 at SportShoes which sounds like a great deal. Interesting you picked up on the laces issue on the Vizipro version here. I had problems with the same laces on the Endorphin Pro 3 Viziprowhich I discuss on my channel in some detail.
Great review Edd as always. I have the exact same model (ViziPro colorway) and I must say I'm really digging it. Only 15 miles on them so far but all my runs with them have been very pleasurable. These are my new daily trainers and I must say, Saucony is taking over as my main running shoes rotation along with the Pro 3 being my super shoe choice. Oh and I mainly chose this colorway because of my dark early morning run. So far it's paying off 👍. Take care and enjoy your pair 🏃💨 😃😀😀
Try them but found 2 at 105 euros, and went for them. At fist thought not for me. Wear them for 3-4 days casualy, and konw they feel super. I found my go to pair for interval training.
I find them really comfortable to walk in and I do use them as sneakers too (I got the black version as it's the only one that wouldn't look like garbage a few months after some running)... Though Edd, have you tried soaking them in a mix of water and white vinegar? it does wonders on some staining.
I prefer the feel of running in my shift 3 much better than any of the speeds. Yes, I said it…. It’s just more stable feeling in the heel and mid for me.
I fell for the Triumph 17 gimmick. It's quite firm. Triumph 20 is a great shoe, though. How's this Shift 3 compared to the Tri 17 and 20? If it's firm like the Tri 17, I'll have to pass, even though I found a lightly used pair for $26. Well, maybe I'll get it. idk ha
I have the More V4, Triumph 20, Nimbus 24, and Glideride 3. I had the Speed 2, but it was a size/size.5 too big, and it was a bit sloppy in one heel, so I took 'em back. How does this compare to these shoes listed? ty
I wonder what it is in particular that makes the speed and pro smell like garden center as you say. I do like that smell. Maybe the best running shoe smell of all time? What do you reckon Mr Bud?

I think the “camping cord-like” lace color only applies to this particular colorway. My white sand colorway has generic ones.
That teal color is one of my favourites
