can i also change the color of the glitter itself?

Do you mean you want a different base colour and then a coloured glitter on top?

When I middle drag AI flakes to Coat Normal, the connection editor pops up but I've tried and tried and it won't let me connect the two. What am I doing wrong?

Hmm I've just been able to achieve it in a fresh scene so not sure why it won't do it in yours. You could try pressing the + next to outColor and coatNormal then connect the outColorR, G & B to the coatNormalX, Y & Z and see if that works?
Or I'd be happy to look at your scene if you wanted to email it over?

Thank you so much for this! I've been searching for a solution for glitter effect for a long time and did use aiflake in one way or another but never crossed my mind to just connected to a normal camera input. :D
