Thanks so much! I was struggling with a 60s Beatles like kit but you did it so fast and good. This will be amazing for my band's 60s inspired songs. I also would never have thought about the mic stuff, but when you told me it was so smart. Thanks again :D
Great video. As well as showing how to get the sound for that kit you've also just shown great examples of lots of other drum voices. I don't know how you recorded the video but they sound so much better than any other video I've seen on the Nitro Mesh. All others sounded over compressed and muted. Almost put me off buying one. But this video has convinced me, I'm getting me one :-)
Hi Justin thanks for sharing these tips and hacks, my inquiry would be on how i can put the ride cymbal on the rim of the Tom 2, thanking you infinitely.
"ALESIS-NITRO-MESH-KIT"IS REALY A SUPERB GIFT BY ALESIS"SO MANY THANKS TO ALESIS FOR THIS PERFECT DRUM KIT ON VERY COMPAC PRICE...FULL OF PERFECTION....THANKS AND LOTS OF THANKS AGAIN TO ALESIS FOR THIS..................YOU ALSO THANKS FOR THIS TOOO.VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE,,,,,,,THANKS TO YOU ALSO............
Justin, I’m getting the nitro mesh in a few weeks and I would love if you did a John Bonham Kit, specifically early zeppelin. He’s my favourite drummer and I would love to see how heavy and big the kit can get as my music store doesn’t have it on display so I can’t try it.
Great video Justin! You really nailed the vintage 60s vibe in that jam. Also that’s a good point about the high cut on the drums. A lot of 60s songs lack that high end crispness in the drums. It gives it that darker and muddier sound. Might just have to take that production choice into my next song
Please do a Thrash Metal set up. I'm struggling with the kick drum.... I just can seem to get the right sound... Great job on these set up videos... Keep them coming... The last one was so helpful.
What odd is that when I set my kit up with these same settings the sounds are totally different. I think that the numbers/instruments have changed over time and with updates. But this is a great lesson on how to program the drums. I even set the pan to 0 for all my instruments since they are going out a mono cable to a single speaker.
Sounded pretty cool Justin. In the song they sounded really good. I thought without the song the hats didn't sound that good but in the song they sounded fine!!
Hello, I don’t know if anyone could help but my drum kit has a very annoyingly echoey base drum but when I turn rev off it doesn’t sound at all although my sensitivity is at max
Hi "Demonic Sweaters". Thank you so much for all your eford to show us this alesis nitro kit. can you shed light on one thing for me? if the cymbal in combination with the module does not have dynamics (one constant volume after various strikes) - will in this case the use of computer sounds (e.g. ezdrummer) will also be limited to a constant volume, despite the multi-sampling sound in a computer application?
Great video. The end results were pretty damn good. Not sure if it’s my idea of a 60’s or Beatles sounding kit. Again, the end results were indeed good especially with the jam at the end. 👍 For me I would be wanting that Ringo Ludwig kit sound. Something that I would have hoped that would already exist on electronic drum presets, but obviously doesn’t.
Justin - bought a Surge kit after watching a number of your videos. Any chance you could list all the sound settings (num, pitch, pan, etc.) from your user-created 60's Custom Kit? thanks.
Hello Demonic Sweaters ! Thanks for all your videos about the Nitro Mesh Kit, it really helps ! I would like to know where the function "choke" for the crash cymbal is; I just don't find it and that's really frustrating ! Thanks for the answer ;) !
Great video, Justin! I actually just upgraded to the Nitro module for my Turbo Mesh kit and it's working out really well. I would love to see you do a Steely Dan-esque type of kit (1977 "Aja" era). I think you would be able to get pretty darn close!
Hey man. I've been trying to find a setup for the Nitro Module that's as close as possible to John Bonham(Led Zeppelin) or Bill Ward(Black Sabbath) for a while now and I am totally lost. You did great with this Beatles sound and the Slipknot sound, so is there any way that you could help me out here? I totally understand if the module isn't actually capable of pulling this off, but I still want to try.
@@demonicsweaters Thank you. I greatly appreciate it. Now to play around with some of the settings to mix and match for a kit that's more me. I have the others still programmed, but am going to play around mixing them until I get one thats specifically my style. Again, thank you.
Hi, thanks for the great informative video. I've just bought this kit and whilst trying to play an MP3 song alongside playing the drums, the sound quality is really poor and seems to echo badly. I don't suppose you have any ideas? I've tried different MP3 players and laptops and also cables. Thank you!
@@demonicsweaters Thanks for your reply. Yes unfortunately it's in the correct input. The interference seems bad so perhaps I'll invest in a new module to try. Thanks!
@@Jord83uk Try turning your cellular service off on you phone. typically that interference is coming from the transmitter in your phone trying to shake hands with the cell tower.
Thank you for your great and informative videos. I used to play drums over 35 years ago. Never had any lessons and played incorrectly but I made it sound good and overall an ok drummer. Since then, drumming never left my soul. Always find myself tapping my hands and feet to music and just recently decided I'll be picking up a Nitro set just for fun. My question is regarding speaker/Amp for the set. While I'll most likely be using headphones most of the time I would like to also play without them. I'm trying to stay on a small budget since I'm doing this just for fun, I have a few questions. Can you recommend an inexpensive speaker/Amp where I can hook it up to the module and be able to hear the drum kit as well as the music I want to play along with (playing from my phone)? When using headphones, will I be able to hear both the kit and the music from my phone? There are a lot of great sounding Bluetooth speakers out there that I can run my phone's music through but I don't believe they have inputs to run the module through. I'm just trying to figure out the best and inexpensive way of doing this and your knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Great video like all the others! It's very nice from you to make tutorial like this, so for we beginners it's easy to understand how to do a custom kit on Alesis Nitro Mesh. I have noticed that you have a different hammer on the kick, not the original that comes with. Any tips if I should change mine too? You did for the noise or for better feeling? Anyway, thanks again for your videos🙂
It's called a Silent Strike Beater, amzn.to/3hnwjF7, it just lessens the impact sound a bit making it a little quieter in the room. Plus it feels pretty nice!
I learned more about my Nitro kit by watching your videos than by any of the documentation from Alesis. The drums are good but their support for them is horrible.
@@demonicsweaters Thanks. I actually (finally) figured it out. My stock head (snare) AND the floor tom (added later) is changeable in the voice setup. I didn't realized that here was a different (RS/Rim shot) setting and I can change that to several RS sounds. To be honest I haven't spent very much time in the programing of this unit. I bounce around from an Alesis, to a Roland V to an acoustic kit. I'm a lead guitar player but circumstances dictates that I'm NOW a drummer. Kinda looks like MAYBE, I should have started on drums first. While guitar/bass will always be my first love, I take to the drums more naturally. Who would have thunk it! 🤔 Thanks for the reply.
Okay, Guru, here is my challenge: create a nitro kit that allows you to play both the drum parts and percussion parts, simultaneously and in real time, and make a video of you playing it. I’m waiting on my nitro kit and this is my first personal challenge once I integrate it into my Tama’s. Correct, my video will be me on acoustic and nitros, yours is strictly nitros. Mine will most likely be recorded on an iPhone XR so no quality media here. Just quality playing. Ball is in your court...

How did you get a dual zone Tom on your nitro?
I switched the snare trigger to the tom 2 position.
Demonic Sweaters So all positions can read the dual zone snare mesh? I though the module would only read a dual zone in the snare port.
@@halobro27 The snare and the toms have dual zone inputs. It's the same module as the Surge which has dual zone toms.
