US Army vet here. My senior drill Sgt in 1993 was 155cm. Small guy. He looked like a small version of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The guy was a Ranger with a mustard stain on his wings. He jumped in Grenada. The guy was a badass. If he had a height requirement he would have never served….

The thing with Gorkha Regiment is different. Gorkhas are genetically shorter in height because their natural habitat is mountainous areas. Therefore, short people have more stamina and lung capacity than tall people which helps them in High Altitude Warfare.
It's a shame that people get rejected because of something that they have no control of.

No, they set these rules in a country like India cause there are too many men and so they don’t just let everyone in and spend the country’s money. There needs to be a standard. If they keep lowering the height for candidates it wouldn’t be fair for people who are a few inches shorter than those who were let in.
