I woke up this morning after a Sunday filled with wanting to sell all my gear and just forget all about photography. Having bipolar and autism, my head is a strange place at the best of times. I sat down with my cup of tea, put YT on, up popped Sean. Yet again, just like my personal life coach. Once again, I thank you. Please don't ever stop. Mark.

Symbolic restarts are important. As a young man all my mentors wore hard hats and work boots. At a very low point in my life one of them took a knife and cut my bootlaces in half, straight up the middle. Then dropped a new pair of laces at my feet and said " same boots, same you, new situation. Now lace them up and get going"....I appreciate the work you do and the good it does for all who see it.

Sean, love the references to Baptism and the whole idea of starting over or beginning anew. Today in the Roman Catholic Church is the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord. @seantuck , I watch 2 channels in order to keep the dream alive, I’m 56 this year, my camera died some years back, my prized photography is scattered across dying drives, I don’t have a computer of my own or one capable of video editing etc. and yes giving up would be easy but there are stories there of seal rescues, 133 days of owls in the nest to adulthood, 3 years looking for a Caracal to photograph and then getting some images but I am stuck with no way forward for over a decade now, I cannot give up even though there is seemingly no way forward. I watch your channel and Phillip Bloom, the Beauty of these presentations and in your case , the message, keeps me going forward, thus my posting the Peter Gabriel link, worth listening to when everything else says otherwise, you know how challenging South Africa can be, in that challenge a history of tenacity, there is no other choice.

Thank you Sean really well, timed for me. Last year was a tough year personally, moving location significantly, living in a house during a bit renovation and changing jobs. My creative life took a real dive but I took the time over the festive period to challenge myself to reset, recognised that's the past and I can choose my future now. I think I've been out with my camera in hand more since New Year than I was in 6 months before it. There's a long way to go but I’m remembering how to “see” again.

As always, inspirational, eloquent. Even your body language, the way you sit leaning forward, enthused about what you are sharing, is a gift.
I would add one other thing, that helped get me get stay the course and fall in love with photography even more: support from other photographers, who listened to my kvetching, let me douse them with my doubts and fears, and then just talked me through the points you mentioned. It has been about 7 years since my last episode of "drop out doubt" and now, when I start to feel it coming on, I simply let it happen, knowing full well it will pass because of all the positives you mentioned. I have faith in my talent and my joy in practicing photography.

You made this old girl cry. Thank you so much Sean. Getting up from life‘s challenges used to be so easy but since I lost my brother to CVD in South Africa (my only sibling), it‘s been as if the wave was just too high for me to come back up and breath. Photography that brought me so much joy, now just is a reminder of how much I lack. The slump is very real this time and I am on a road to finding my way back to my love. Happy New Year, Sean!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the content you share on Instagram, RUclips, and in your books and magazines. The past few months have been really challenging for me, and photography took a backseat, I just didn’t have the motivation to do much.
Thankfully, over the past few days, things have started to feel a little brighter, and I’m beginning to find some hope again. One of the things bringing me joy is slowly getting back into photography, no rush, just taking it one step at a time. It’s been a while since I’ve taken or edited anything, but catching up on your videos has been helping to reignite my motivation and passion for the craft.
Thank you for everything you do. Your content has made a difference. 🙏🙌
