  • Interior designer Suzy Hoodless explains how she created a comfortable, characterful sitting room for her West London townhouse in this episode of ‘The Scheme’. The open-plan double sitting room in this typically tall Victorian townhouse had to work both for family life and for entertaining, and Suzy has filled it with her signature blend of modern and vintage furniture and a fresh, contemporary mix of colours.
Suzy illustrates how she added the ‘Pueblos’ fabric by Pierre Frey to his and hers chairs to tie in the rest of the room: “In this scheme, I really used the Pierre Frey embroidery as the starting point and all of these fabrics are pulled from this original fabric.” Watch the full episode as Suzy Hoodless weaves together a clever mix of patterns, colours and textures to create an open-plan family living space in West London.

Suzy's style always feels playful and fresh but never too busy, or disharmonic. Having stylr is all about being personal, bold and creating a vibe, she's great at it.

Love the carpet and sofa, but the rest would give me a migraine ~ there's just too much going on. It looks like a display in a high street design shop. I guess I'm a traditionalist, and prefer a restrained muted classic period look for a Victorian house, with maybe some interesting pictures on the wall and period mirrors over the fireplaces.

It feels kind of pop-arty, slightly too eclectic for me, have a kids' room vibe. It may not work with the architecture and style of the building itself. But the 70s are trendy now, so maybe I'm just out of trend ) Carpet is outstanding though.
