I’m disgusted with they way humans are I truly am. I’m a grown ass man and this made me shed a tear. I can’t imagine 100k ppl every week screaming your name and then not one them has your back when something like this happens. Ppl will say he should’ve spoke up when he learned the person was fake…at the time of everything there’s not one person who would’ve done anything diff than him. God bless manti teo and I truly hope this guys life is much easier until his time passes. What a great guy in every sense of those words. The problem is that it’s just forgotten how he was treated. The person who catfished him has no excuse for what they did! They destroyed this mans career and has the gall to excuse it with them being trans. It paints trans people in such a bad light. No. You messed up and did something awful. Take responsibility which means not making an excuse. They showed no remorse. Tried to act like they were the victim.
Manti on the other hand is such an incredible person. The maturity and forgivness he displayed was amazing.

Totally agree. Ronaiah is shallow, with very little remorse for what he did to Manti and his family - remorse that is mostly for him/herself.
Manti T’eo has a beautiful soul. His faith is deep and genuine. The fact that he forgives Ronaiah for costing him his NFL career and the millions of dollars that go with it - after Manti worked so hard his whole life to achieve such excellence, is supremely inspirational. I know that catfishing is a situation where people often put blame on the victim as well as the perpetrator (oddly enough). But unless you experience something like that, you will never know the type of frenzy and gut-wrenching pain it can send you into. You will be revisiting the lies, the deception, and the trauma at random moments in your life from that point on. It's awful. I remember hearing about this story, but never heard THIS version of events. I hope that all parties involved truly heal from this part of their lives.

There are some good things about the internet quite obviously, but there's a deep darkness to it too. It brings out the worst in people, and people's mental health gets destroyed by it. Being the victim of catfishing (I've experienced it) is like being the victim of a crime for which there's no evidence to prove you've been hurt. Manti's only crime was that he was full of love to give, and love that he needed. I'd rather him in our world than all these psychopaths who belt their wives and girlfriends.
