- As a redditor, I am knowledgeable in a great many things. Most things, in fact. My opinions? Unflappable and unfiltered. My resolve? Hardened though years of finely consumed podcasts. My piggies? Unwashed and reeking.
But there is no subject, no politics, and no historical subject I am MORE well versed in than John Warhammer 40000. I have an encyclopedic knowledge of Horus Heresy and his betrayal of Emperor Sigmar. I know the biographical intricacies of Rogal Dawn and Robert Gulliman. I was forged in the fires of Games Workshop, and this game is the hot sparks on the anvil of my hammer of knowledge.

i LOVE how he critisizes the warhammer 40k universe for AESTHETICS meanwhile he gets almost wiped in rimworld every series cuz of aesthetic priorities he justifies as "I LIKE BUILD BASE"

well rimrim is mostly processor, and it wasnt made with multithreading in mind which makes it even worse on the component

At the end of the series could we get a 'Mr Samuel Streamer explains John Warhammer 40k' virtual whiteboard style, I think it'd be funny and plus it'd show whether or not the game is effective as an intro to Warhammer. That or a playthrough of Rogue Trader because CRPGs go hard.
2 pieces of information you might like Mr. Streamer
1. Titus is the protagonist from Space Marine 1.
2. When you kill the bigger warriors their death causes a chain reaction through the smaller mobs killing them too. That was rhe green lights you saw whenever you killed the bigger ones. The smaller ones died.

Love you are playing this, just a few things:
- There is currently a patch in effect which nerfed a lot of your abilities, dodge, parry, etc. which did not go well with most of the community and so there might be a new patch in a few days that will be changing it again.
- Keyboard is better if you just want to shoot stuff but for melee or mix controller is more comfortable
- Look around. The devs went really hard on stuff like environment, skyboxes, and npc chatter
- Primaris just means better and bigger spacemarine (there is a lore explanation). Really, it's just an excuse from Games Workshop to sell bigger and more expensive models.
- The game does a pretty good job at explaining the crucial lore for both the world and your character (not that there was that much lore in the first game anyway) but a tldr is - Titus was a captain of the Ultramarine chapter, sent to fight ork invasion, found a chaos artifact which helped him defeat them, got accused of heresy and chaos corruption by his snitch squadmate, sent to Deathwach as a punishment, you know the rest
Samuel, special forces exist for a reason.
The halo thing is an iron shield
And the Ultramarines use cobalt blue as their colors, they just come from a set of worlds called Ultramar.
If you keep playing this, just a heads up you can parry all attacks, you don't need to wait for the blue circle, the circle just indicates optimal timing, but the parry window is very very forgiving :P The only attacks you can't parry are those of the red circle.
Some enemies like the warrior who had that whip you need to parry them multiple times before you're able to trigger a riposte/gunstike =)
I would also highly reccomend changing up the controls, for mouse and keyboard the hotkeys are dogshit
The only collectables during the campaign to grab are dataslates(audiologs) other than that, you don't need to go looking in the back areas, though some do have decent weapons early on, but you'll unlock all the weapons as you play =)
Soon you'll collect the 40,000 Warhammers and bring peace to the galaxy
As someone who has zero knowledge of Warhammer, this is the ideal playthrough for me

The reason the marines have so many decorations on their armor is because space travel consists of a fair bit of time dilation and to keep themselves busy the marines practice arts and crafts.

Hi, warhammer 40k lore nerd here. I dont wanna do a full "umm actually" lore dump, just want to be helpful and point out a few lore bits that might clarify some plot points of the game for you.
The little 'rat swarms' you saw eating people are called rippers. Basically tiny tyranids that eat all the dead things in the wake of bigger tyranids.
'Primaris' marines are sort of the next generation of marines. People can be directlg converted into primaris marines, or old non-primaris marines can be converted into them through the 'rubicon' surgery the one guy mentioned. This can also be referred to as 'crossing the rubicon'
All space marines have their dna altered based on one of a number of 'primarchs'. There are many legions of marines with different names, but all of them come from just a few primarchs. Titus is an Ultramarine, which have their dna based on Guiliman. Space marines generally view the primarch they are based on as a father figure/holy founder.
Hope this helps clarify some things witbout just being a bunch of technical term vomit!

in lore primaris are bigger stronger space marines that were more recently invented in real life it was GW's excuse to resell you all the same figures slightly bigger ultramarines are just one of the space marine chapters (which are like sub-factions) and is basically the generic default chapter
I play on keyboard but it have done it on controller it's a bit easier if you play it that way since sometimes I hit the wrong button when trying to do something else since the keys are so close
