I have been saying for years now, if Iron Maiden had two sons, Powerwolf is the occult son and Sabaton is the Military son.
Powerwolf is the son that's obsessed with DnD and takes Latin in school, while Sabaton is the son that plays games like Risk, Civ6, and Crusader Kings, and takes all of the history classes in school.
Sabaton and PowerWolf are the true sons of Maiden!
What I love about Powerwolf is that they really nail what's fun about power metal for me. Sometimes power metal bands get too cheesy (I can't think of another word for it) for me to get into them, but Powerwolf walks right up to that line tickles it. They're the perfect blend of stinky but delicious fromage, like a good camembert.

Having seen them live a few times I can confirm they bring the same level of production out on the road with them and they sound just as good.
Love me some Powerwolf!!! They're so much fun, probably my favorite power metal band, simply because they're both not too serious and not too cheesy, a perfect mix. And, they are clearly having fun with what they do.
Do these guys ever miss? Like, EVER? I think not. And the production here is fantastic. Next up, we need a Tank tear jerker. Feuerschwanz's latest video Das Herz Eines Drachen should fit the bill. What a song. And the video does it justice. Long live Hauptmann! And Viva Powerwolf while we're at it!

When I saw this vid a week or two ago, I genuinely had no clue it was a live performance it was so damned clean and the audio was so crisp... but that's what you get from professionals like Powerwolf amirite?!

I still don't know how accurate this thing is at times. Just trying it out for fun. HOWEVER... When I filmed the most recent Lorna Shore, that thing was at like 120-140 the whole time. Hahahaha

Didn’t get to watch live because of work but have a question that may end up too in depth for an answer on here. What do the sound people do differently for bands like Powerwolf? By that I mean all of their live performances I heard/watched you can clearly differentiate each band member and what they’re playing and it sounds almost to par with studio recordings. Other bands I love just sound like shit live where everything kind of jumbles together. Thanks man, look forward to the next one!
Honestly, it all just depends on the experience and the expertise of the sound engineer mixing it all. Like any other job, there are people that can be awesome at it, and people that can be not so awesome at it. Haha
I've never run anything at that sort of level, biggest for me was maybe a 500 person venue as it was a beer money job, but never found it *that* hard. However, some of the worse recordings I've heard aren't using the desk output so that may be a good chunk of it. Powerwolf by all accounts treat their sound guys *really* well though so that may have some bearing on the matter :)
