- Thanks to our supporter Linda for this request! We haven't listened to Supertramp in forever and that's a shame because this was GREAT! So different then "Bloody Well Right" might as well a be a new band! I really enjoyed this though.

This is one of those records that should be listened to in its entirety.
Back in the 70s when there was a stereo shop on nearly every corner you could safely bet this LP was in their high end listening room. Beautifully produced album.
True
Massive talent with innovation, combined with a high production level equals a great album.
Nowadays high production only seems to mean run it through auto tune.
Back in the 70s I was speaker shopping. The guy at the store put this album on. I was sold on the speakers and this album. I bought both.
Ken Scott!!!
"Who are these men
Of lust, greed, and glory?
Rip off the masks
And let's see "
One of my favorite songs from a stellar group. Can't wait. Peace, all 💕
"Rudy" from the same album is a masterpiece 🎵🎶❤️
Hell yes. "Rudy" is an amazing bit of prog storytelling and is KILLER in concert.
We're generations apart but if you were sitting in my living room listening to this I would pass the bong and call you my friend.
My brother! 😎
Could not agree more.... Cheers my friend.
"School" of the same album is a must!
You're bloody well right!
Three songs of Supertramp I want to suggest in order: a soulful 'Even in the Quietest Moments', 'School', and 'The Logical Song'. They were probably the most underrated prog group of the 70s.
I wouldn’t call them prog after the COTS album. Yes, there were some tracks that can be considered prog but they were an art-pop rock band most of the time.
They were prog to most of us listening to them at the time and sat with genesis camel and yes at the lighter end of the spectrum. For Art-pop rock I would call up Roxy Music or 10cc
I'll add them to the list. Thank you!
@@yigit_tky I tend to see them as Prog Lite, like Alan Parsons after Robot.
This album is a masterpiece. You NEED to hear it straight through.
absolutely spot on...
One of my favourite albums of all time but one of the most unique groups of our age.
Yes, a superb album without a single filler song. I've known it since I was very young and the consistent quality in every aspect of the music - from songwriting and vocals to production - is just astonishing. "Asylum" is arguably the greatest rock song ever about sanity and insanity, the experience of being close to someone who is mentally unstable and the sometimes deceptive borders between these two states of mind - the only possible competition would be "Shine On You Crazy Diamond".
I can't wait to hear more from them! This song was amazing. Completely sold me on hearing more. Great composition.
@@L33Reacts They had done two previous albums, sponsored by a Dutch millionaire who liked the band - those albums didn't make any major impact at all but CRIME was their big break, both artistically and commercially. Yes, a great album and I suspect many people who lived through the seventies have a relation to it.
My god they were great artists!
One of the great albums of all time! My favorite Supertramp album...
The opening track "School" is one of their best imo. Please check that out. And congrats on 12K. Don't stop with the great music selections and there's no limit how high you can go.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. I will definitely be checking out the whole album now!
the harmonica at the end of this song reflects the opening of the album.
You are playing the soundtrack to our lives.
Bob Siebenberg (drums) and Dougie Thompson (bass) are definitely a top rhythm section. Never flashy, but always vital.
From Supertramp, i´m a sucker for Fool's Overture. Just love it.
Hey Man, you are really in my wheelhouse now. Supertramp and Pink Floyd are tied (for me) as the all time greatest bands ever. The musicality, musicianship and scope of the abilities just puts them a step about everyone else. Supertramp is more keyboard based than PF, but the melodies and harmonies of instruments and vocals are unmatched, in my opinion. I was fortunate to see Supertramp live, twice….almost 30 years apart….and both concerts were phenomenal. The first time was in 1974 on their first North American tour. They did this whole album COTC. Hey had an incredible sound and light show (like PF) and the guy on the soundboard was the studio tech that recorded the album. Keep em coming, I’ll be here. Hi from Canada 🇨🇦🎶🎸😎
Supertramp were ridiculously talented. The run of albums from Crime of the Century through to Famous Last words were extraordinary.
Absolutely fantastic track. SUPERTRAMP has an amazing, vast catalog of great music. From this album: "School," "Hide In Your Shell," "Dreamer," and "Rudy" are probably the best of the bunch. The entire album is top-tier. Other brilliant tracks you should check out: "A Soapbox Opera," "The Meaning," "Even In The Quietest Moments," "Fool's Overture," "Give A Little Bit," "Just Another Nervous Wreck," "Gone Hollywood," "The Logical Song," and "Child Of Vision" are the cream of the crop and definitely worth your time. AMAZING band. Cheers!
Just like dark side of the moon, this album was intended to be listened to from start to finish. Note; the sound at 4:08, is made with a "water gong"
Another great reaction bro! 🎸
You’re in for a treat with any track from this album. "Rudy" has always been my favorite.
Same for me!
Supertramp are really good 👍.
This is My favourite Album of Theirs.
Child Of Vision, from Breakfast In America, is a must.
Keep Rocking
A complete masterpiece! You can listen it a thousand times it will blow your mind.
I turned 13 in 1971 and basically partied the 70's away, because the music, weed and beer only definitely no hard shit and lucky enough to remember most of it 😂🎉🇨🇦
Aww yes, what a brilliant album. Still have it on vinyl. Production awesome for 50 years old!
The drums were an integral part of this song.
Another great classic prog album masterpiece, every song is gold. Supertramp were so unique, they had a sound & writing style like no other. You need to seriously explore this rabbit hole & in particular the amazing voice of the other half of this writing team, Roger Hodgson & his extraordinary compositions. Recommend: Hide in your shell, School, Dreamer, Asylum from this album & from Even in the quietest moments - the title track, Give a little bit & the magnificent Fools Overture. Cheers
One of the best album ever from beginning to end.
The musicianship of this band is brilliant and on a much higher level than many groups considered better ??????????? JMHO ! :)
Love me some Supertramp😊
This album is a monument in progressive rock. Absolutely amazing!
Hopefully this is the Album not just the Title Track.
The entire album is just absolutely awesome, especially "School" 😉
This was a request for just the title track. But I definitely want to do the whole album now.
@@L33Reacts"school" has the best use of a scream like ever! And was a track I used to compare Speakers, that's how good it is dynamically
The whole album is one of those all time favorites
One of my all time favorite cuts from Supertramp......if not my favorite. Saw them 3x in Concert and they were a treat to see.
I became a fan of Supertramp in the mid seventies when I was hitchhiking across Australia and it was love at first sound. I don't know of many bands that have put out 3 albums (Crime of the Century, Even in the Quietest Moments and Breakfast in America) with not one bad song on any of them. Real artists!!!!!!!!
One of my top 10 albums, every song is great.
The perfect ending to the perfect album
"School" and "Bloody Well Right" absolutely need to be listened to at the same time. on the album one runs into the other with no break, so they are really one song
You're bloody well right, that album is a masterpiece. There's not a weak song on it. Worth listening to the whole thing
honestly m friend, you need to listen to this whole album in one go. it's fantastic
I'm definitely gonna give it a go now. This was a great first taste of it.
Sooner or later I knew Supertramp would hit ya. Now for Fools Overture lol. Another tune of theirs that is very good is "Even In The Quietest Moments", but you have already gotten several good recommendations.
Woot! Love this album! I remember driving to school my senior year in high school(1979- it came out in 74 I think-but Supertramp was Big then-with Breakfast in America), so enjoyed jamming loudly to School & Bloody Well Right, This song, Rudy…all of it! Supertramp is amazing!
You will really Enjoy School!
I have loved Supertramp since the FM album-oriented radio stations I listened to back in the 1970's first started broadcasting tracks from this album on its release. When it comes to this band, lots of folks will talk all day about their biggest smash LP "Breakfast In America", but in my mind "Crime of the Century" and the followup album "Crisis? What Crisis?" are two PERFECT albums.
I had a few folks mention crisis in the live chat. We will definitely be doing more supertramp after this!
@@L33Reacts - Speaking of Crisis, one of my favorite songs from that album is a lesser known track called "Another Man's Woman." If anyone recommends you to watch the live performance of that song first, please don't do it!
Rick Davies kills the piano playing solo on the outro, but the studio version is better. In the live version, it has all the great energy that you'd expect from a live performance, but the way he alters the piano improvisation at the end is disappointing to me. I like the live performance a lot... I just wouldn't start anyone there.
Another of the Rolling Stones top fifty prog albums, Hero and Heroine (#44) is an album by one of my all time favourite bands The Strawbs. They tend to be ignored or undiscovered by a lot of reactors and even prog fans in favour of the more well known and mainstream groups. This Supertramp album by the way has been a favourite of mine since it was released when I was in high school.
These guys were the soundtrack to my college years. Simply brilliant. Listen in its entirety , then move on to all of Breakfast in America, and the piece de resistance is Even in the quietest moments. Thanks so much for this ❤. They were so underrated!!
This whole album is fabulous - one of my all time favourites
Crime Of The Century is one of those albums that doesn't have a bad, or even mediocre, song on it. It's an album I've been revisiting over and over again since 1979. The hits from the Breakfast In America album prompted 16 yr old me to look into their back catalogue and almost instantly COTC trumped the newer stuff.
This whole album is worth listening to every song! 🔥album! Crisis, What Crisis? Is a lesser known album but🔥as well, imho!🔥🤘✌
Yes, it absolutely is
It's the last song on this album. A perfect finale of a great album. For me, it is a concept album (growing pains is the main theme)
Stick with them my friend. This was the closer to IMO their best album, ranked very highly everywhere.
Try Rudy next. Great song to experience what Supertramp is all about. They have some great albums between 1974 and 1982.
Check out "Logical Song, Goodbye Stranger, School, Rudy, Gone Hollywood, Asylum, Give a Little bit"
From Now On
They know how to bring the drama.
Wonderful band and song - Hide in Your Shell is a beautiful and my fav song off this album.
The entire album is a story.
This is perhaps my favorite album by anybody! The album is very much a voyage through the human condition. Sooooooo much deep shit on this album in terms of human psychology. EVERY song on this album is good, if not great!
Still one of my favorite albums...
Worth to be heard for Rudy and school tracks!......My first and favorite album from them!
Nice one Linda - Great track from an astonishingly good album. Give the rest of the album a listen or at least the tracks ‘School’ or ‘Rudy’. I think someone already said that the COTC album was used for years to demonstrate HiFi systems due to its flawless production and detailed musical highlights that made it the ultimate test for amps and speakers.
Yeah the production on this is fantastic!! Seriously. I see why they used it to test equipment! It sounds flawless. I will definitely be doing more!
It was a toss up between School and Crime of the Century as they are both my favorites from the album. I figured I would hit School later unless someone beats me to it!
This album does have a feeling of being trapped in every song. Every song is a surprise because of how good it is. The last two songs on the firs side, Hide in Your Shell and, Asylum are the two most emotional songs. They both have the same build up structure. I see it as Hide in Your Shell and you might end up in an Asylum. Asylum ends in desperation.
Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee!!!!!! Even In The Quietest Moments and School are MUST LISTENS!! ❤️
You should check out “another man’s woman” live in Paris 1979
Enjoyed your video! I'd recommend just listening to the complete album in full. However some of my favourites would be "Rudy", "School" and "Asylum". If you are interested in that, most of this album is also able to be seen live. As the band has released a concert film from Paris in 1979, easy to be found on RUclips.
I just bought a new copy of this on vinyl recently. It's a masterful album.
It's an album you have to hear from start to finish. Take it all in.
They sound almost exactly the same on stage. 8th row center at the Forum in Inglewood Ca. Best show ever!!! IMO
This song and School are my favorites from this album. Thanks for the reaction! Supertramp are a great band.
Glad you enjoyed Linda! Thank you for supporting the channel 🙏
What an era for music!
Thank you for this masterpiece !! You have to listen to "fools ouvertures" too and school and... all supetramp 😊
See you and don't forget "one for the vine" Genesis 😅❤
If you listen closely you can hear as it fades out with the harmonica intro of the first track 'School'. Are you listening up there, Mum?
This was a perfect end to the album, after the songs that had come before.... This album was one of those that EVERYONE had as the time.... it was huge in the UK... Keep on Rocking.
I can see why people loved this album so much and still Do. Just from this track alone. Fantastic
Great classic Supertramp. Supertramp had a pop side and a really progressive rock side to them. You just heard the latter.
Check out "The Logical Song" by them for some classic more pop sounding Supertramp. Then for another great progressive rock tune off this same album, check out "School". 👍
I saw the first concert in North America for this. It was at the Chicago Theatre. Fabulous concert. This music is timeless.
The whole album is great, definitely a desert island disc for me.
This album is a masterpiece. Please play the opening track, School. My favourite Supertramp song.

Fade out with the harmonica, that reminds me of a train whistle. The two bands I bought the most music from were Supertramp and Annie Lennox/Eurythmics. I do hope you introduce yourself to some of the female artists, and that the ladies and their bands won't be making only token appearances, once in a great while.
Annie Lennox has a ton of original hits, but one of my favorites of hers is actually a cover of a song from about 1971. The Lennox cover has better production, and powerful vocals. Annie doing harmonies. Oh... and lots of harmonica. I always loved it when the Eurythmics (her earlier band) added harmonica. The original version of the song had a good sound for in '71, but feels too dated now. imo, its vocal arrangement is a couple of hairs too close to the Bee-Bop Era, for the serious subject matter. The song is "It's a Thin Line Between Love and Hate".
That Annie Lennox CD is all covers and I love what she does to the songs.
Bob Siebenberg delivers in this somg one of the most brilliant and tasteful drum part thatI have ever hear, but it seems to me that his contribution to this song is always under the radar. I have very rarely heard a drum part that is so perfect for a song.
Check out Roger Hodgson's, the real lead vocalist in the band, solo song "Had A Dream(Sleeping With the Enemy)" it still has the Supertramp flavor to it.
Great sounding lp.
I always liked Rick Davies as a writer and vocalist....
I really enjoy this Supertramp song, but it's the last half of the track that I like the most. The band has numerous great songs, ranging from Progressive Rock to Pop with a Prog twist, and most of them are even better than this song. They even have epic Progressive songs, my favorite of which is the powerful song about Churchill, "Fool's Overture," an amazing song that goes from melancholy and wistful to powerful and driving, taking the listener on a uniquely captivating Prog journey. If you decide to give it a chance, I think you'll really enjoy it, L33. ❤✌
This song was effectively used in the intro of the documentary "Inside Deep Throat". There's some relevant historical context for you.
Great band!!! enjoying spending time with you!!!👌👌👍👍✌✌😁😁
You have GOT to react to some Soft Machine. All of their drummers were incredible, and I think you'd appreciate a lot of different aspects of the music.
I suggest "Out-Bloody-Rageous" from Third
I'm sure I'm not the only person to tell you this but the whole album is absolutely amazing you so need to check it out
Not one bad song on this album, very underrated.
Rick is underestimated in regards to his organ playing. Check out the masterful way he bleeds into Roger's weeping guitars?
This song makes me think of David Bowie’s Lazarus.
A lot of Supertramp was pure pop, but they definitely had their prog moments. My recommendation would be "Fool's Overture" off the album of the same name - at ten minutes, probably the closest they ever came to making a prog "epic."
It's from "Even in the Quietest Moments".
Oops. Guess I know my Yes and Genesis a lot better than my Supertramp!
as previously suggested, this album is best consumed in one bite
I played Supertramp until the LPs wore thin. A fabulous group with loads to explore. We used to sing their song Bloody Well Right at the top of our voices because it gave us the chance to swear "legitimately". 😊
Hi my man - great British band, terrific musicians and so innovative! Who'd thought this was possible back in the day? It's not for the 'tik-tok' listeners with attention span of a gnat - this music is for people who love great music, great song-writing skills and, best of all, great musicianship. As you obviously do! Good to see you again buddy - keep smiling!
"Dreamer" was the other hit other than Bloody Well Right from this album, but "School" and the other 5 songs on this album are like Crime of the Century, full of tempo and time signature changes and amazing transitions. And they're all full of quirky instrumentations, and is one of the best produced albums you'll ever hear. If you want another banger that lasts over 7 minutes, try "Rudy". You really should react to this whole album in one sitting. The whole thing is a great vibe, if a little dark at times, but it's all unique and gorgeous music you'll never forget. It's not really a concept album, but listening to whole thing does take you on a very specific journey to many wild and wonderful places that are very emotional. A one-of-a-kind record.
This is the best record I have ever heard!!!
Amazing man!!! ❤
Saw them at the Texas jam Dallas cotton bowl. I think it was 1978.
Try the song School; it's their best song IMHO
Gracias y Felicitaciones.
Supertramp are and absolute gem to explore. This album is a 'if I was stuck on an island' album. Check out Fools Overture if you want 10+ minutes of genius.
Or Brother Where You Bound, the title track from their last great album.
This track always reminded me of Pink Floyd
Hi Lee, very timely song there... Yes who are "those men" ?
A fabulous album (and song) but then again all from their classic period are great. If you only did this one and Bloody Well Right only you're missing on the awesome Hodgson songs. In for a treat, no doubt :)
From bad to worse? Even evener evenest worse. - Lots of power in that melody.
This is how bands were in the 70s. Not every song was alike
