Rod Evans (DP), Rhino Reinhardt & Lee Dorman ( Iron Butterfly) and Bobby Caldwell (Johnny Winter) after DP formed the band Captain Beyond. Lee-- you have to hear that debut album,bro....35 minutes of KILLER hard rock!! T
Not forget, the Masterpiece, the final piece on this Album, composed and arranged by the great Jon Lord: The superb 'April'! R.I.P. Jon (* 9.June 1941 - + 16. July 2012). 😭✨ Kind Regards Heinz (Munich/Germany). 🌳🥀🌱🌷❤✨
Back in 1979 , I was 9 , my first 8 track tape was Deep Purple , The Very Best Of , The Sceptor Series , this song is on that , with a bunch of other fantastic tunes ! But can you imagine a 9 year old kid jammin out to this all the time . For old stuff , just wait until you check out The Painter ! Deep Purple has been my favorite for over 40 years ! I haven't heard a bad one yet until you get to the 80s , then they mellow out a little , but that's a totally different lineup . Some of my favorites , , Fireball , Lazy , Space Truckin , Strange Kind Of Woman , Speed King , , there's too many to name here . Then Tommy Bolin took Ritchie Blackmore s spot for a while , basically Tommy Bolin with Deep Purple backing him up !
Great song, great band! Huge DP fan here! IMO, their best lineup consisted of Gillan, Blackmore, Glover, Lord, and Paice. Saw them at Philly Spectrum back in 87 during their House Of Blue Light Tour. It’s not my favorite album by them, but the concert still kicked ass! ✌️🤘🎸
Rod Evans was in the short-lived group, CAPTAIN BEYOND. You should definitely check out their first album (self-titled) -- an early progressive record, very melodic and innovative. They made only one other album (SUFFICIENTLY BREATHLESS), a solid release, but not up to that first classic.
@@L33Reacts They have 2 live with orchestra shows on lp with a video version from later. The latest being with Steve Morse on guitar, Paice, Lord, Gillian along with an amazing prelude with singer Miller Anderson called Pictured Within. The rest of the show is premo. Something to behold.
Great track from an underrated line-up in the history of Deep Purple! After being sacked from Deep Purple in the summer of 1969 for alleged musical incompatibility, bassist Nick Simper founded the band Warhorse, who released two albums: Warhorse (1970) and Red Sea (1972). Try to react to the song 'Woman of the Devil' which closes their debut studio album. It sounds as if it came from the Deep Purple In rock album released that same year (musical incompatibility, my a**!😉).
The Song, „Why didn't Rosemary do it?“ It's a great song from this album! Jon Lord and R. Blackmore deliver a world-class performance here! But drummer Ian Paice and singer Evans are also absolutely great! 🎸🎹🥁🎤
Saw them 2 times 1985. The Texas jam Dallas cotton bowl 1985 and the perfect strangers tour Dallas. The blues Brothers were there Texas jam Dallas cotton bowl 1985 v
Their lead singer, Ian Gillan sang Jesus in the 1970 Jesus Christ Superstar. There is a RUclips video of him singing Gethsemene that is worth a listen!
If you like the African tribal beats, you should check out the First Album by a band called 'Osibisa', brilliant drumming and bass. You can find it on You Tube.
This is my favorite tune from Mark I. Do some Tommy Bolin Mark IV & learn what happened to them in Indonesia. It’s a crazier story than smoke on the water.

C̲a̲ptain B̲ey̲ond - C̲a̲ptain B̲ey̲ond 1972 👌👍🤘
In my opinion the first period (1967-1969) of DP is so underrated.
Mk I was incredible! Blind is one of my favorite Deep Purple songs. Jon Lord's harpsichord is beautiful!
As you said, the "Paice" of that entire song was fabulous.
Haha zing!!
Love the Purple. Looking forward to a gig in 3 weeks.... double bill Deep Purple and Alice Cooper. Gunna be awesome.
Lazy, Highway Star & Child in Time are classic Deep Purple.
Burn 🔥 also a must

early Deep Purple is very underrated, they had some great stuff on those 3 albums! Check out Deep Purple - The Bird Has Flown...from the same album!
Jon Lord so so far ahead of his time.
Rip Jon Douglas Lord 😢 top 3 keys in the world 🌎
Ha ha! You said "The Paice!!

The first incarnation of Deep Purple! Thanks for reacting so quickly! Such a great track! Ian was amazing on the drums!

Every reactor here in You Tube did the CHILD IN TIME live 1970 video. Guess it's your turn.
One of the best live performances on TV ever. I'm not kidding when I say ever.🎉

Had this on cassette in early eighties and wore it out. Great album.
Definitely! I wanted to keep going into track 2 this was so good lol

Surprising choice! The whole album is worth a listen. Also, Blind and The Painter (because I'm an artist) are great tracks.

Seen them in 73 one hell of a concert ❤
Great track, and the following one, Blind, is even better!
Must hear Hush,Mandrake root,April from Mk1 of Deep Purple 🤘
Emeretta one of my favorites

Lazy is a good one !!!
That was funny " a rain dance".

Double paradiddle according to Paicey
You’re right, that would make a hella alarm clock!
Woman from Tokyo
Hey Lee, I think Ian said he based this on double paradiddles and an African rhythm.
This is my favorite tune from Mark I.

LISTEN TO "APRIL"
Shame there's no video footage of Ian bashing on timbales anywhere.
The singing was always a bit naff, he was a good singer but belonged to a different era. Crooner
