  • In this video I show the service procedures for an Allison 3000 transmission in a diesel pusher motorcoach. This particular transmission is in our 2003 Monaco Dynasty coach with the 8.9 liter Cummins ISL backed by the Allison MD3060 six-speed automatic transmission.
    The Allison filter kit part # is 29558329

    I just bought a 2003 bluebird school bus, with a newer Allison MD 3060 transmission, this is relatively new for me, I've worked 17 years as a commercial fisherman where I'm more familiar with some of the Cummings marine engines. This is the first diesel vehicle I've ever owned, and I found your video to be so very helpful. I've made notes of everything you talked about as far as fluid used, and filter kits. I wanted to say, I am very appreciative of you posting this video. I found it so very helpful. Thank you sir.

      Glad the information was helpful. Thank you for watching and so very much for the comments. If you're new to diesel engines to may want you check out my video where I install a FASS pump and filtration system on my Cummins ISL.

    I don’t know sir….You MUST read my mind. Just fixing to start collecting parts for the CC Allison service before the Moab Trip. Another shining example of everything I need to know. You make this to EZ.

    This video is very well explained. I did my first allison transmission service last week on a 2008 Kalmar ottawa. Sadly that was the first time it had a trans service done to it so the fluid came out brownish and had chunks of metal at the bottom of the pan. Ty for the excellent video. I learned quite a bit from this.

    Mike, Thank you for yet another great "how too" video. This is something I need to do to our 2004 Country Coach soon. Between you and AJ I'll have the coach in tip top condition! In our travels It's always interesting to hear what other folks pay to have their motorhomes serviced. Man are they getting ripped off! Close to $1000 bucks just for an oil change! I know a lot of people don't have a place to work on their rigs or maybe they just can't do the work themselves. I'm thankful I can still crawl under and over the things to get the job done. Lol. As AJ said "You make this too easy".

    Hi Mike. Any idea on how to remove the trans dipstick tube? I'm changing a cracked exhaust manifold on an American Dream. The tube goes right over the top and the tube must come off. Thanks for any advice.

      @zmotorsports62  Год назад

      Sorry, it seems different coach manufacturers route the engine as well as transmission dipsticks differently. Not familiar with that one.

    Mike, very helpful video and a cool garage! Just wonder why you don't use a creeper and also wear gloves?

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you.
      My creeper takes up much needed space when under the coach and I only wear gloves when I'm working in the solvent tank or things like brake or clutch jobs. Otherwise I'm not a fan of wearing gloves for every task, I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty.
      Thanks for taking the time you watch.

      @@zmotorsports62 I just serviced my Allison 3000 last week. Wasn't too bad! Getting the old gaskets off was the only problem!
      Hydraulic fluid is hard on your skin and organs so I always glove up! Great videos! Thanks!

    Well done video, but @ 11:48 you put the plug back in without replacing the O-ring that comes with your new filter kit.

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  6 месяцев назад

      I did install the new O-ring as well as applied some Sil-Glyde before reinstallation. If you notice the video cut from the draining to where I reinstalled the drain plug. I cleaned the drain plug, installed the new O-ring and applied Sil-Glyde off camera while I was out from under the coach and allowing the fluid to drain.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch.

    Nice video on the trans service. You mentioned the service on the differential of just dumping the fluid in the bango & just refill. I've read that the replacement fluid needs to get thru the axle housing ends & to do this is tilt the coach with the jacks to each side. What say you? I did the trans service in Sept. & want to service the differential in the spring.

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  9 месяцев назад

      As long as you're on level ground it's not necessary. In my early years I would tilt the axle side to side to ensure fluid got to both outer axle bearings but it gets there easily enough through normal use as long as the oil level is at the proper level and not low.

      Got it! Thanks for the heads up Mike! I'm in Northern Illinois & the coach is covered for the winter & as I said this is on the "To Do" list for next spring. BTW AWESOME "Toy Box" you get to play in🙂

    Hey Mike. Great videos man! I’m always down to learn something new… Is there a way I can contact you either email or by phone? I’m rebuilding a 1987 trx 250r from the ground up. I just got the casings broke apart. Still have to take the bearings out and have them sent off to get vapor blasted. Are you currently taking in any work? One casing needs some work done to it. Definitely needs someone with experience but mostly the peace of mind to have someone I trust to do it. I can send some photos and see if you are willing to take it on. No big deal if you don’t want too. Might make a good video for welding and machining. Anyways, just let me know. Thanks.

      I didn't film that because there are so many different locations that the various manufacturers out them. The procedure is the same though after locating the full tube, put the correct amount of fluid in based on your sump size and then check with dipstick. The dipstick will get you very close but I recommend you check it the way Allison suggests in their service manual, get to operating temperature then use the touchpad to check fluid level.

    I have a 2004 Winnebago with the Allison 3000MH, i have a parasitic draw of 2.80 amps that when I leave that wire disconnected from the battery i get a Trans ECU message and no trans controls, reconnect and that message goes away and trans works, Any ideas of what to do next? I disconnected the big cable going to the trans and amps drop to.20 millamps
