    By the way thank you for doing these videos. For those of us looking for a small trunion mount type radar this is about the only comparison that we get to see between the big brands that do that. So thank you for doing these comparisons. I just wish you showed the other units doing cool stuff like that boat running through the screen... I'll be honest I really wish you'd had heading sensors and showed how the MARPA worked on each system. I also really wish that the sailing oriented B&G stuff had that true trails like TZTouch3!

    Is there a way to find out which systems/models were used for systems A,B & C?

    I just got Tzt3 and your radar. You're saying I cant overlay it on the chart without the additional compass?

    Actually marpa stands for mini automatic radar plotting aid , Not Manual automatic radar plotting

    Hi, what about interference? I have “system A” radar and in the area i live in there is lots of interference that shows all the time and you can see any birds what so ever. How is Furuno with frequency interference?

    • @FurunoMarineElectronics
      @FurunoMarineElectronics  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching! Your term “Frequency Interference” is a little difficult to understand. In order to see bird targets on any Radar, the radar receiver’s sensitivity, or Gain, must be increased because birds are inherently weak targets to detect. Instead of interference, we think you might be referring to the Sea Clutter echos that are masking bird targets. It is true that in some cases, when the weather is rough, Radar echos from wave peaks can be stronger than the bird target echos. Our comparison video series highlights the fact that Furuno Radar systems are more sensitive than our competitors and can detect birds at further distances. Using the Furuno Bird mode or increasing gain for bird detection is best on calmer wind days when return echos from waves are not strong. If your Radar is in bird mode and still only showing Sea Clutter but, you know that there are probably birds flying and feeding within a few miles of your position, have your system checked by a technician. Or, as we try to fairly show, your non-Furuno Radar system may simply not have the sensitivity to detect weak bird echos. It’s also the reason that Furuno has won more National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) Radar Awards and than any other two manufacturers combined.

    Hey Guys I'm wanting to equip my 23' Cobia center console with a Furuno TZT2 or TZT3 monitor (for GPS and Fish finder) and interface it with a Furuno radar. I live on SE Florida Treasure Coast and will be chasing Mahi and Blackfin Tuna primarily so the bird mode is an IMPORTANT function for me. Your video shows what I think is the TZT3 package with 24" dome radar for $2,095. Is there a possibility of improving the bird mode performance with a "step up" radar antenna? Who could I talk to in the Stuart/Ft Pierce area about this? I'm trying to educate myself but it can be a daunting task!! Thanks!

      Hey Gary, you will definitely see improved bird mode performance with a larger open array. The longer antenna provides a narrower horizontal beamwidth, and more energy on-target means you can detect smaller targets more easily. Just visit our website Dealer Locator to find an Authorized Furuno Dealer near you:

    System B has a bird mode but you didn't use it or show it? You just turned the gain all the way up and guessed at speckles? Whereas on your system you showed it with the custom mode turned on and target trails and also had a boat run through to show off how all that works. seems a bit suspect to me.

      They mentioned at 21:40 that they weren't seeing any bird targets on the System B radar in bird mode.

      @@larryt360 I missed that at first watch. I take it back he did mention that he was in bird mode and as I look closer yet it does show that it is in bird mode in the top right. The unfortunate thing is that I'm looking for lower end type gear (I want like a 9" simple thing that doesn't draw a lot of power) for my sailboat. I want a really nice radar and I want good functionality because I live in an area where freak fogs roll in with decent regularity. So I'm probably not looking at Furuno because they don't make as much gear for trunion mounted smalll screen lower budget but premium wants.... I already have some B&G displays in my cockpit so I was considering buying a B&G chart plotter. But there isn't much in the way of sample video on the internet out there.... So in order to get good quality explanation video of how the gear compares is to look at this Furuno sales video. I kinda feel like their way of testing bird mode was a bit non realistic for what the whole "promise" of bird mode really is. But I'll probably never use it that way.... I really hope they do a weather mode comparison and go out on a day where a storm cell is near by. But again that makes for a tough condition to reproduce (much like the bird mode that they sorta kind tried to reproduce in this video)... I've always seen it advertised as looking for large flocks of birds not really just individual birds...

      @@AMaverickBrother Thank you for your comments, Brett! It sounds like you may be interested in a product such as the GP1971F 9" combination Chart Plotter/Fish Finder. This can interface wirelessly with our DRS4W 19" Dome Radar, offering simple installation, an intuitive interface, and lower power consumption than the TZtouch models, with all of the features it sounds like you're looking for, including C-Weather data from C-Map to provide wind, wave, weather, humidity, & temperature information. We've put together an introduction video for the GP1971F that you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/iLM5HaR-ooA/видео.html
      Thanks again for your feedback, Brett!

      @@FurunoMarineElectronics Does that unit do all the same stuff as TZTouch3 or is it simpler and slower than the units that you're comparing with in these videos?
