Electric Messiah is probably my least favorite HoF album, ranking as "fucking great," and the tom part in Sanctioned Annihilation (you know which one) is one of my favorite things HoF ever played
I love high on fire! Thank you for doing this! Cody is the new drummer and he said on Instagram that they're working on a new album. Can't wait! Ii like to play along to any high on fire songs with my electric drums. Turk and Snakes for the divine are awesome drum tracks. Dez rules!❤
Would love to see you cover something from the band SLEEP. It would be awesome since the drummer Chris Hakius is one of the biggest Bill Ward fans on Earth!
Yes! ANDREW if you like tom work and High On Fire, you must check out “Hung, Drawn and Quartered” off their Surrounded By Thieves album. Des is going bananas on the toms the whole song, as he was inclined to do in the old days. You might as well watch the official video for it so you can watch him in action. Powerful player. 🙌🙌🙌
I'm loving that someone is asking for HoF. Good stuff. There are maybe more interesting tracks from them drum-wise but dang this song is excellent. Not my favorite from them but great. Keep it up! And I really hope you end up getting requests for Sleep. Matt Pike for president. By the way, Celtic Frost is one of the biggest influences on this band, though the ones listed are definitely huge influences. Just had to mention that.
Nice I like this different vibe of listening to music without the playing or looking of the playing of the instrument, sometimes things are better heard withhout the looking value
@@davidkoblentz I think all that stuff applies. Pike's soloing style sounds like a mashup of Hendrix, Van Halen and Slayer. There is also a very strong Celtic Frost influence in many of their songs.
where do these guys fit into the equation ? ruclips.net/video/LRGwuUL6bYA/видео.html the forefathers? certainly they were stoned - originally from 1969
Commenting again: Jimmy chamberlain - cherub rock Dave Lombardo when he was with slayer - war ensemble Some Jon Theodore with the Mars Volta could be nice to - tetragramatron ( I think that's the spelling...) The heavy grooviness of Vinnie Paul - primal concrete sledge
Andrew, they won a Grammy just before Des left the band. We used to see them in small clubs back then, now they'll be in bigger venues. Still a favorite band on the list. Blessed black wings album is probably the worst sounding recording they have. Please check out the other albums from them.
It has little to do with "samples" and production in this case though. This is the result of amateur musicians, a lack of nuance and control, and it sounds like a mess.
"amateur musicians" says the guy with several hundred fans. Last I checked HOF has a significant international fan base, has toured the world almost non stop for decades, and even won a grammy several years ago.
I requested the video. Please cut him some slack. In Andrew's defense, I probably should have introduced him to a slew of earlier bands to get him primed for HOF, so he had more of a map to react to them. Metal is not his background. I kind of threw him into the frying pan with this one, sorry Andrew lol
This reaction needs a bong in the foreground and a well lit fireplace above your shoulder in the background ..💨🔥😊
Word.
nah just lose the shirt
7:43 and on is so cool...luv "choose your own adventure" !
Des Kensel is a remarkably unique drummer, his drumming on this song, Cyclopian Scape and Sanctioned Annihilation stands out to me in particular
Electric Messiah is probably my least favorite HoF album, ranking as "fucking great," and the tom part in Sanctioned Annihilation (you know which one) is one of my favorite things HoF ever played
I definitely recommend doing some clutch.

These guys won a Grammy for Electric Messiah. Check it out.
WHAT!?

I'll get there!
That is a GNARLY guitar sound.
This is some deep fried smoked out stoner metal if ever I have heard such a thing. I love it!
Andrew , Drums , Coffee , and High on Fire 🔥!! Nice way to start the Day !! 🥁🥁🥁
Thank you Steve Albini!
Check out Kyuss, Clutch, Fu Manchu, Sleep, Wall of Slumber, Down for more crunchy riffs

Yes please
You need to check out "Fury Whip" or "Fertile Green" for some of the faster material from these guys. Des' playing is always on point
Drums on fertile green are absolutely brutal.
Loving your choices!
Dude, excellent feel!!!
YUP!
yes man 2.33 and we got grove happening nice toms lol
luminiferous might be a fun HOF to do next
Des is such an awesome drummer
BTW, Have you done Kyuss reactions Andrew?
Yeees!!! High on Fire is so great. Check out their drummer doing a metal Steely Dan cover of Reelin in the Years.

That is not Des Kensel - I believe it was a newer drummer they had for a period of time. Des stewarded the band through most of their career.
The singer/guitarist (three piece btw) stated that he wanted to play music that sounded like Vikings battling to the death.
Love it Scott
Fury Whip is the tune to check out from this band for sure.
Sludge fer days!!! thanks Andrew
YUP!!
I like all the metal videos Andrew! Coffee-black Metal-black!!!
YES!!!
Yeah stoner metal with some Motörhead and of course Sabbath. I am sure some have to get over the rough vocals but I enjoy them. Great pick

Yup digging this new band Seth!
yea man much better drumming on that one some grove and great scoups on the hats have a great day

I always kind of put them more in the stoner rock category. This tempo is more kyuss than slayer to my ears.
yes, kyuss, not anything to do with old school metal imo. maybe monster magnet as well

Great reaction, there are only a handful of 3- piece bands that can crush the way they do. So nasty you need a shower afterwards!!🤟🏻
sounds like death core Beastie Boys
Nice!

P.S. I have always liked this band musically, the singing style is not to my taste though
I hear ya , but I think the harsh vocals are on point... kinda help guide the overall feels of the huge Riffage turnarounds on most their songs.
@@ThrockmortonJGildersleeve Maybe they were channeling Lemmy 🙂
Interesting but definitely not my cup of tea.
Fair enough!
Sound quality was horrible, very sloppy song and production as far as the band/recording goes. Yikes.
It has little to do with "samples" and production in this case though.

"amateur musicians" says the guy with several hundred fans. Last I checked HOF has a significant international fan base, has toured the world almost non stop for decades, and even won a grammy several years ago.
PS the guy who recorded this song/album, Steve Albini, recorded Nirvana's In Utero, among many other albums. You have a more professional CV?
Comparing Matt Pike to Morello makes me kinda sick, Morello being completely overrated. Now, if you compared him to Greg Ginn....
