    The main reason DCP is cool? The guys there can actually play the stuff they sell. You can really hear what a kit sounds like before you buy. No one else does that on the level they do.

    • @DrummerGrrrl
      @DrummerGrrrl Год назад +15

      Also, the guys don't try to make it all about them and their impressive chops. There's nothing worse than trying to get an idea of what a particular drum or cymbal sounds like but the person demonstrating the equipment is too busy playing everything BUT the drum(s) or cymbals that the video is supposedly about! "Hey, look at me! I am the coolest drummer ever!" Ugh. The guys at DCP do not do this and that's why I love them. Also, their senses of humor kill me. 🤣

      @@DrummerGrrrl True dat. Pretty much every manufacturer demo. Mapex & Paiste being some of the worst. Fortunately DCP did a professional level demo of Mapex's entire Black Panther snare line (High/Med/Low tuning). DCP should've gotten some compensation from Mapex for such a world class demo :-D ?

      ☑️ Yep, I agree 100%. ^Their employees are also very knowledgeable, unlike the employees from certain other stores, where knowledge is sorely lacking. For instance, I went into a Home Depot the other day looking at cordless circular saws. They carried many different brands, sizes, battery power, etc. It was all very confusing! I quickly realized I needed help.
      So I found an employee from the tool department, and I asked him the following important and relevant question: "which are the best snare drums from 2022"? I was disappointed when he couldn't provide me with an answer. He couldn't even give me a top 5 list! Don't they train these people? 🙂

    Gretsch is really making consistently good snares. They really pack a wallop. But the nicko mcbrain was really cool. Probably my favorite British drum company snare. Dunnett has been killing it this year but the most desirable of his don't stick around long enough to make videos for. Great video. You should do a cymbal video best of 2022.

    Lots of great sounds here. I'm glad to see that you're giving shallower snare drums their due. A couple of years ago, you weren't even looking at anything less than 6". #1 may be my favorite of all of them. It has an appealing density. Plenty of other stars, though. My faves? #20, #14, #12, #8, #7 , and #1. Your list could have used some copper and aluminum. The one I loved in an earlier demo that didn't make the list was the DW Collectors Edition 4"x14" copper.

    My “unscientific” thoughts on your list. I hate it! Well, to be more “scientific”, my wallet hates your list. My savings account hates the list also. On Christmas morning when I explain to my kids that a lump of coal in their stockings is because of your list and Daddy going broke buying a couple of snares……then my kids will really hate your list.
    I love these video comparisons (with the exception of the above comments)
    Well done, guys.

    I don't know why it is, but it just seems that Ludwig still makes the best overall sounding snare drums. Out of about 10 snare drums that I own, I always seem to go back to my 1964 Supraphonic for one reason or another. This video may have just convinced me to buy another Ludwig, #20 the Cherry 14 x 6.5. Love the sound of that snare! Lots of great snares here, but all three of Ludwigs just stand out to me. Thanks for the video!

    Why is SJC not on this list..? I have been pretty impressed with their tight sound... ! I'm in the market to get a Mapex kit and I love their 20" bass kits for not only portability but their tight punchy sound which is fantastic for alternative music. I'm still on the fence for the best cymbals to match ..

    For me the best sounding drums as shown were the Sonor Bronze #2, Yamaha Brass #6, and the Tamburo Opera #17. The 2 snares I think I could create the sound I want though with heads/ect... Shockingly the Ahead C.O.D. for #2 but #1 the Dunnett Titanium (hard to believe that's in lower tuning which is why I want it)
