    If you are on mobildata and you have a dinamic ip,sometimes the ip changes and you cannot enymore see the trafic

      That is why we used DuckDNS to resolve this issue.

      Thanks for watching, I don't have a camera that can capture 360 degree view. So, i am not able to check it on my raspberry pi.

    Nice explanation. But I have no port forwarding option in my router but have virtual server option. Is it possible to configure the virtual server to work just like port forwarding?. I once tried to configure it but was unsuccessful. I use tenda 4GLTE router.please help

      Please check with your ISP, they will help you in this case.

    bro i have a problem when i connect the external ip with my wifi i am getting the camera action but when i use with the mobile data it is not giving the feedback
    my router is different it is tplink router in this the port forwarding is different with what you had done in the video.

    What should i do if my router public ip change every time the router restarts ?

      Talk to your ISP they will configure your ports and if there any blockage from their end. They will resolve it for you.

    Every time I type a host name, i have to reboot. But after it reboots, it never goes into motioneye.. help me plz

      Try to update your motioneye software and then check if it work or not.

    I can’t get this to work because I can’t type the pi’s IP address because it only allows me to type the numbers after a good chunk after my routers IP address. Can I change the end of the IP address of my pi, and still get it to work? Because if i could I think I finally could do this.

      Set a static ip address for your motion eye. That will resolve the issue.

      PcMac I did that, the thing I was wondering about is if I could edit the static ip, and still make it work.

      You can but when DHCP lease refresh the ip address will change and port forwarding will not work after that.

    Hi Mr Mac. Thankyou for a very helpful tutorial. I DID IT!! However... I can only sign in as a surveillance user, It will not let me sign in as Admin therefore i cannot access other cam's connected to it, usb cam for instance. Is there any way to sign in as admin remotely?

      Thanks for Watching, Motioneyeos is under development. So, you will see many changes in near future like video recording with voice. I have used USB camera and my phones as network cameras. So, i will check your issue and let you know if it is possible or not.

    When I change the ip address from my browser to static in the raspberry pi. I'm unable to view the video anymore. It reboots, but then nothing else happens. It changes the IP address at boot up but I can't access it.

    My network lacks some fields here. I have no remote IP field for example. Looks like I have to reflash my motioneye and stream the video with appear.in or something.

      If you mean missing network settings in MotionEyeos under general settings turn on advanced settings.

    I've go the port forwarding set up, and image on WiFi network, but not getting image when refreshed off the WiFi network (on 4G).
    Is there a way to check that the port forwarding is connected (forwarding data) correctly?

      If you are able to connect from mobile network that means port forwarding is working. You can also google for "check port is open or not".

      I checked if the port is open or not and it still says closed, though I've set up virtual server with the same details as used when working on WiFi network?
      Could it be blocked by the ISP?

    3:34 minuts in the video you settings in "MotionEye". I don't have the options "Network" - "Services" and "Expert Settings". Do you know have I get it ?
    Sugestion: make at tutorial, how to use "MotionEye" on mobile device form Wan.

      Add a camera first then under 'general settings' you will find the first option to turn on advanced settings.

    I had to disable Authentication Mode to get a video stream. Is this a problem for security or other?

    This was working for many months, but now when I check my public IP I cant see my Motioneye camera... Even tho it works on local IP! Can someone help?

      Check with you ISP maybe the ports were blocked.

    So I put Service Name is called Camera, Source Target is the Raspberry Pi's IP address, Port Range is 8081, Local IP is my local IP address, Local Port is 8081 and Protocol is TCP and UDP. And it's not working! Please if anyone can figure out if I'm doing something wrong here please reply! :( Also in my Port forwarding Basic Config the FTP Server Port is set to 2021 is it okay or should I change it? :)

      Might be your ports were blocked by your ISP, you can ask them to forward your ports and unblock them.

      But I do get an error in the Asus config page "The WAN IP is not the external IP. External IP-based services will not work." Maybe if I could fix this issue, then I might be able to connect to my public IP and the port?

      this is your personal router or it given to you by your ISP.

    so i got everything working. BUT, it's not asking for password when connecting from my phone, just takes me right to the stream. any idea how to fix that?

      solved. port 8081 is a direct link to steam bypassing login but port 80 allows me to log in and control motioneyeos.

      Because the password got saved at first time that is why it is not asking for password try another device.

      @@PcMac24x7 this was the first time. just installed motioneyeos yesterday. just configured port forwarding today and first ever attempt to access it from my phone with port 8081 took me directly to stream with no request for password and no access to controls. however forwarding port 80 and connecting to that i did get a password request and access to controls.. could be a change in versions perhaps?

      also noticed in your video you have ports 80,81 and 8081 all forwarded to motioneyeos

    I get an ERROR saying "start port and end port cannot be the same" when I enter 8081 for each of them?
    The only way I don't get an error is by entering Start-80, End-81.
    Is this correct as the port is not open once set up?

      Type start port as 75 and end port as 85. This will open these 10 ports for you. or you can select a range of your choice.

    I have the newest motioneye os 2019 something. i have portforwarding the ip on raspberrypi3 in my router. i have made passwords, and everything in your video. i cant still connect to motioneye outside my network, cant connect to video stream and nothing.

      Forward the ports on your router and then try to access your motioneye from a different network with your public ip address.

      type in browser from device NOT on the network . format should be xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8081 replaces X's with your WAN ip followed with a : then port number

      ok so i just figured out that 8081 is the direct port for the stream. if you want to make changes to motioneyeos you need to forward and connect to port 80.
