Yep, it happened to me too. We adopted 2 peahens and a peacock. They didn't like living at our neighbors house and moved to our house and refused to leave. The owner moved and left them.
That is going to make an amazing children’s book one day!! The day the white Turkey and the boy and girl duck came to our farm….they didn’t use the front door but wait for a spot to be opened for them.😂 and the saga continues….❤️🥰🇨🇦🙏🏻🍁❤️
It looks like you have 2 male ducks (drake feathers}. Since you don't have females they may mate with the chickens. That will most likely kill the hen. You should probably separate them from your hens.
I was going to say the same thing! Male ducks have a corkscrew shaped pen!s, and it literally kills female hens (chickens). I've seen some pretty horrific photos in my chicken group of what can happen. I'd definitely separate those drakes from the flock of hens.
The white duck also is a male (tale feather curling up). They should probably have their own area away from the chickens. Your straw-bale roost for your young chickens is just right for them! Very clever!
I think one of the reasons I enjoy your channel so much is because you are teaching us what and why you do what you do. Congrats on the new feathered friends. They must have chosen you for a reason! - Sue in AZ
you can tell the ducks and turkey know each other just from how close they are keeping to each other and they came from the same side of the fence. Its probably the neighbors.
Welcome to being a duck daddy! My ducks are like my pets. They have so much personality and seem more like individuals than chickens. They do make a mess of water though. I suggest getting one of the blue plastic Walmart kiddie pools for them so they don't always foul up your chickens' water source. Hope all is well Tom and I hope y'all have a Happy Easter! God Bless!
I'm glad you brought the duckies and turkey inside.....l say too bad to the original owner that if he can't take good care of his birds then he doesn't deserve them!
I'm so so glad that you rescue!!! The duck's and the turkey!!! I think that Midnight is a Great name for the little piggy!!! Happy Easter!!! God Bless Us All!!!
If they came to you, this must be a sign that maybe they would want you to take them in. They could of wandered off or been abandoned, but I think it would be nice to keep them. Add turkey and duck eggs to the mix
I'm just at the start of my homestead journey here and Ireland and I've been following you guys a while and I hope my homestead is as good as yours one day! love the little ducks!
You have 2 adorable Drakes :) You probably should separate them from your hens as they will try to breed your hens. Looks like duck math will begin lol and you need to get some ladies for your boys.
Looks like you may have gotten two different duck species, the colourful one is a male mallard duck. And the white one looks like it could be a Peking duck, and if the tail feathers curls upward, then it's a male too. Also if the both ducks are mostly quiet, then I would guess, they are both males, since the quacking noise we associate with ducks, is largely made by female ducks. If they are both male, which might explain why they were given up, you'll need to get them some ladies to prevent them mating with your hens, as this could kill them. The turkey seems to be female and the egg confirms it, I wonder why she was given up.
Great chanel. The name for the 6 month old pig could be "porquinho" the translation is litle pig in portuguese. I'm from brazil and love what your videos!! Keep doing great!
Just a tip....don't get geese as they squawk non stop and very loud you will have trouble filming 🎥 while they are around....they are just that loud and it's constant.
Enjoy watching your videos! But wanted to share.... You have yourself two Drake's there. Beautiful ducks but the curled tail feather on both says both males. Also, be careful housing your turkey with the chickens. When turkeys and chickens are raised together, turkeys run a high risk of contracting the disease histomoniasis, also known as blackhead. I do look forward to watching more about your new feathered friends
Wanted to add.... I have ducks and chickens. They have separate coops but share the same yard. In spring when the Drake's get spring fever I separate fully. Had a Drake mount a hen a couple years ago and he tore her up bad. Almost killed her. Roosters have internal genitalia and ducks have corkscrew external genitalia. They will take a hen to the water and drown her in attempt to mate. If she survived the water, his genitalia will kill her. Be careful!
Keep a watchful eye on that male duck, they do try to mate with hens and can seriously injure em in the process. If you don’t have at least 3 female ducks the male will try to go after a hen. We had a mallard duck that tried and well let’s just say he’s not longer with us.
awesome video and should have some baby chicks and gesse hatch on april 20 and posted some shorts of the gesse and chickens on my channel if you want watch
Ild watch the ducks to what I've seen on RUclips they can sometimes sit on chickens and kill them ,just so you know ,Mr bigglesworth for the male pig and candy for the girl.
