Heyo! Thanks for this video! I still have a confusion, but I think you can help me out! I´m planning to get the DS923+ (or maybe TS-464) for myself (no team) for video editing (currently up to 4k/60), data storage & photo editing. Additionally to your recommendations I saw another video of Javier Mercedes where he edits exactly of that device. However, I´m confused why it would work, since a HDD is limited to ~200MB/s in terms of speed, right? How is it then possible to edit from that NAS? Since you also recommend the DS723+ it probably hasn´t anything to do with using RAID 10 for faster access. Am I missing something? Or are other upgrades besides the 10GBe required? NASCompares mentioned that M.2 SSD Cache isn´t really speeding up video editing, what is your opinion on that? Thanks!
Nice video! Would love to see more of these. Ive got a Synology DS720+ 4TB (will upgrade to 16TB soon) 1GbE is enough in my opinion, but it is also possible to get 2GbE out of it, so I am fine. :) Would love to see a workflow for Davinci Resolve users for collaboration. We are a team of 2-3
Thank you for a great walkthrough! Question: Which hard drives do you put into you Synology NAS when working with video editing? Read that several use Seagate Ironworld. What is your recommendation?
Hey Andreas, thank you, glad you liked it! So I would agree with that consensus as well. I’ve actually got a video on the best drives for NAS right here: ruclips.net/video/CdrmOHH21B4/видео.html Hope that helps!
Hey, thanks for this video and the 2-year-old one, super helpful! I was not familiar with the SSD caching option which sounds great. We are a small team with the DS1522+ - do you have any tips for setting up a workflow to edit remotely occasionally? There would not be a dedicated edit machine at our office, so something like Jump Desktop/Parsec would not work there - just wondering if it's even feasible to edit from a server located at our office with the Synology VPN service, assuming internet at both the remote location and office are quality speeds.
Hey Ryan, thanks for the comment and glad to see you saw the first one too! So you could try this: Don’t Fear Leaving the Office, Video Edit Remotely… From a NAS ruclips.net/video/aVLKh6qF2UU/видео.html I’ve used it successfully in the past. Let me know if you give it a go
Too bad Synology uses a lock nowadays so you can only use Synology (Toshiba) drives which are double the price... 10Gb should be standard on 2023...let alone in 2024.

What kind of NAS did you get end up, mate? Can you update?
Hey@@PositivitysDust , actually I postponed the topic because of the costs and uncertainty about the topic I mentioned in the initial comment...

did you manage to fix that workflow
Are you a QNAP fan or Synology fan? I was interested in the Synology DS1522+
