Idk if you will actually see this, BUT... with the white piece with the blue tile, have you considered a sealed/waterproofed piece of wood? Since you’re putting the wood shelves. I’ve seen the wood in a niche with the penny tile and black all on the shower and it’s GORGEOUS!! Hope you find something you’re happy with. House is looking amazing.
As someone who did a full house reno recently: change what you can during the process and don't sweat it too much. Some things won't be exactly as you imagined/planned but they will not bother you in the end. And of course, some things you thought were great at first will disappoint later lol. No such thing as perfection. The shower tile veining looks good/not dirty. The tub shelf can be tiled instead, easy fix.
Totally agree and well stated Tiff! I too am currently in the middle of a full house reno and I've made plenty wrong choices, and some cost a good penny! That said, I'm fixing what I can and dealing with the rest until someday maybe I'll feel differently or I'll change it. Hang in there Tara, it's all going to work out. I've learned through all of this to put it in perspective. Wrong color choices and tile installations for me is something I can deal with as long as I have my family and good health. Your place looks beautiful Tara, I'm enjoying the journey with you.
I came across your channel because of "The witch neighbour"storytimes and look where I am now, also LOOK AT YOUUU Honestly, everything can be turned into your favour when you stay positive!
Your top floor bathroom is SO STUNNING! And regarding the trim- not everything translates well from paper to real life so try not to be so hard on yourself!! You couldn’t have predicted exactly how it would have turned out. You have fantastic taste so have faith in that 🥰
I know a lot of ppl on insta votes for the crisp white but knowing Toronto you’re going to get some cloudy, cold months and having a slightly warmer wall helps a lot. Having blue undertones can look stark. Love the reno vids!
2 little ideas 1 think about the wall color in your bathroom. Don't do the white walls if you hate how the white tiles goes with the marble tiles! 2 if you do wood shelving in the second bathroom maybe you can do the same wood for that bath shelve Love seeing the progress. Hate seeing you disappointed, but I would be too! 💐
i think it’s safe to use the same marble tiles for the trim for the shower ☺️ i think like you said, a grey countertop in the bathroom would also look nice to make everything come together nicely or something more warmer in tone to match the colouring in the marble
the way your dad compliments and validates you reminds me SO much of my late father 🥺 honestly so in love with your dynamic and it's so nice to see another girl was blessed with such a great pops! Can't wait to see what you decide to do with the bathroom sis!
It’s deflating when your vision doesn’t go exactly how you envisioned it. But so normal in the design process, it will come together so don’t beat yourself up! The blue tile?!? Chef’s kiss. So gorgeous!
TARA!! I just wanted to tell you that you’re doing a great job! I’m currently in school getting my Bachelors degree in Interior Design and making all of these choices is incredibly difficult! You’ve taken on a huge project and you’re absolutely killing it! I think changing the white trim to the tile will look really great and matching the counters with the grey veining is also a great call! Remember to check your paint against the tiles in different times of the day to get the different lighting. Keep crushing it girl!

And change paint color for bath from white to something else so it doesn’t impact you the same way the shower trim did. I also agree about the tub shelf to continue with the blue tile - seamless look! You can use decor on shelf to tie in the tub - put white jar candles or white plant pots for plants. Easy! Excellent decision to wait for kitchen countertops as well!! See if you can bring a painted sample of wall paint to put against your countertop slabs to make sure you’re okay with the colors together. You got this!! 👍❤️👍
It's crazy how big of a difference there is between the two whites. Your preference of the clean crisp white is spot on. As for the BR white shelf, you're 1,000% right it cheapens it! Trust your instincts, you've been spot on every time!
Don’t get too stressed about each individual piece of your reno. Once everything is done it will all start to come together! I’ve learned this lesson so many times doing a Reno project. Think of a makeup look or an outfit, sometimes when you’ve only done your eye makeup you might be like oh crap, this doesn’t look good. But once the brows and foundation is on - it all looks amazing!
It's like the pieces all seem perfect in isolation but when they come together sometimes new aspects are introduced that weren't noticeable before. My ex boyfriend used to always say, "Not to worry, we'll figure it out," whenever we encountered something stressful or difficult and it was so reassuring and gave me confidence that we would figure it out. Tara, I have no doubt that you're going to figure it out and it's going to be amazing in the end. My philosophy is that if you aren't learning and making mistakes along the way then when the heck is the point of living?!?!? The point of life is to grow and learn and not be too hard on ourselves when we don't always make the absolute perfect first decision. There are bound to be a few hiccups along the way and at least these ones are relatively minor. The bathroom tile choices are perfection - that blue tile is just so dreamy. Love it!
You definitely can't be too hard on yourself. These are two little things that can be fixed, overall your choices are beautiful. It's tough to tell until you actually see things in place. Don't question yourself your instincts are impeccable.
Things like these happen and as ANNOYING as they may be, it's so much better when you're 100% happy, rather than settle. This is a great opportunity to really enjoy the reno process because in the end, your house will be AMAZING! You'll look back and be so happy that you made the decisions you did, never doubt yourself Tara! Lots of love xx
I bought an outdated house a few years ago and still saving for renovations, so I’m living vicariously through your renovation process 😍 so exciting!!!
Sometimes you have to see things in place to make the best decisions and unfortunately that is just part of the overall cost of doing such a big renovation. Just remember how many things you have loved! No way you’re going to be able to nail it the first time every time. Those blue tiles should make you confident that you make good decisions haha
I’m so proud of you for advocating for yourself in this process while still holding yourself accountable, being realistic 🤗 You deserve to LOVE the final product & your home will be so worth the extra effort. Wishing you luck 💘
Keep it seamless Tara, and make those hard decisions, even if it will cost more, because this is where u will be living everyday and its better to change these problems now than later since the contractor n his crew is there right now. Stressing is a big part of renos, just don't stress too much. Be strong and firm when u notice u don't like something and its good to talk it through, proud of u💕👍
Don't stress Tara! If you second guess yourself with every decision you make, you'll never be in the present and enjoy other exciting things. Your house is going to be STUNNING either way, and you will make it work. This is your baby!!! We are here for you, thank you for being so vulnerable! Also, I think your idea of using the extra marble to tile where the "white" is will look much better, and a grey counter will blend it all perfectly! It'll be seamless. Can't wait to see the gym come together as well with the mirroring wall! You should get lights with a remote to set the vibe in your gym!!
Your house is looking amazing Tara I agree with your dislikes on the bathrooms... the good thing is that you’re on time to change it. Don’t stress and take it slow and like that you will will exactly what you’re looking for in your bathroom
Tara...chill! You're doing an amazing job, the house is looking beautiful, the blue/mint tile is gorgeous and it's all gonna come together nicely. I agree with you on the bathroom, if you can change the trim for the tile, it'll look better and make you happier...stop doubting yourself girl! You got this! 💪🏼🥰
I’m SO HAPPY YOU WENT WITH THE BLUE/TEAL TILE!!!! I’m so obsessed with that bathrooom. My whole color scheme is ocean and beach and this would look so beautiful in my bathroom LOL.. The White tile in the other bathroom is amazing also.. It’s going to be a beautiful home when it’s finished. And I agree 100% with you on the white trim cheapening the look of both bathrooms. And you shouldn’t blame yourself because it sounded great in theory, but seeing it in person makes a difference.
Totally get and follow your issue in the bathroom with the white stone. Optimizing some things on the way is part of it. Cheer up! You don’t like it, it can be changed. nothing is permanent you always have options ! 💪🏼
Tara I really want you to have exactly what you want and if you do not like it change it before it is completely done! I watched and still am watching HGTV and people go through renos and change their minds and you can too! Love You Tara!
Honesty is so appreciated! It creates such an amazing dynamic and relationship with viewers!!! Don’t stress too much remember to believe in yourself! Everyone else believes in you too!!
Proud of you for speaking up when you don't like something. You're right, it looks good on paper but some of use need to actually see it to know what if we are going to like it. I think you are right about the bright white slabs. It does make the tiles look dingy.
Love the update. I think the blue tile bathroom upstairs is the most beautiful bathroom I’ve ever seen. That tile is everything!!!!! Right call will making the shelf white. I love your bathroom too. Don’t stress too much about second guessing yourself. You have incredible taste. :). Love your videos.
I just wanted to say I’m obsessed with you and your videos and your family! I will forever be amazed by how hard of a worker you are, and your creativity!❤️
Hi Tara, Disappointments are inevitable.. how you deal with them will teach you many lessons. You are doing an amazing job of living , enjoying, ,and expressing gratitude for your good fortune. Your videos are inspiring! 👍🏻..and Marci rocks!!❤️
Just remember...when it comes to a whole home reno the sum is worth more than the parts. It's a complete picture, not the individual puzzle pieces you're seeing right now. Absolutely make certain you love everything that happens, but just remember...the full vision has yet to form. Seeing everything in context as a fully formed picture will look dramatically different than the different stages of assembly. Trust yourself! You really do have impeccable taste!
Definitely go with the tile for the trim around the shower and a light grey for the countertop! The light grey will compliment the shower and make it stand out in a good way and will look really elegant and seamless with the whole vibe of that bathroom. A huge plus will also be that the light grey countertops will show less dust, make up, etc than a white one so it'll look cleaner
Absolutely love the blue bathroom!!! I agree the white shelf needs to go. Best to make the changes now then after they are all done. Don't be too hard on yourself about making changes. You don't really know how things are going to look until they put them in. Just make the changes and move forward! Looking forward to next week.
no regrets! Change anything you end up not being happy with! Of course it costs money, so maybe you can do it as you go, but so far from my view everything looks beautiful even the white shelf in that blue bathroom could be a vibe with some nice décor. But I can also see it looking gorgeous with blue tile as the shelf! Realtor here and there are no mistakes in homes, just put in what makes you happy. And if you have to save up money to redo something down the line its all gooooood! Can't wait to see how it all turns out regardless of how many changes you make haha ♥
I think for the trim in the bathroom, using the same tile you did for the shower would be absolutely stunning, I’ve seen a lot of bathrooms like that and it always looks gorgeous and seamless
i think using the same tiles as the trim would look the best in both bathrooms for sure! i like the idea that it doesn’t take away from the tile or stand out too much to where it’s the first thing you notice when you walk in. don’t get down on your decisions though tar! you’ve done great so far you just hit a little bump. it happens. everything is going to look beautiful once its done 🤍
That bathroom tile…gasp! SO GOOD I agree with your thought to tile the white shelf. The other tile I didn’t notice the difference in the whites until the second part when you went back and then I could see it on camera. Now that I see it I can’t unsee it. 🤦🏼♀️ Don’t be too hard on yourself for needing to tweak your design a bit as you go. Obvi it is costing you $ but this is your first full huge house! You have to ‘err’, for lack of a better word, to learn and grow. Look at how stunning everything is so far! Totes respect for how you are stressing though. You are adulting big time and that is scary! 👊🏼 keep rocking! Hi mom! Hi dad!
Tara! I just want you to know you feeling upset about how some of your decisions are costing you money made me feel inspired. Single momma on a major budget trying to make my fixer upper more homey and I feel this so often. Your home is beautiful and you’re so good at what you do so if these things happen to you too, I just feel motivated to keep trying. Thank you!!!
Good thing about doing the reno and constantly seeing the progress is that your can change many things if you don't like them. My first thought was exactly the same as yours on the white. It made the other tile look dirty. Easy fix.
I completely agree about both of the changes you might make in the bathrooms. And for the blue bathroom, if you are worried about the grout lines getting dirty from candles/products, you should just use trays to hold the candles/products
In your bathroom , a counter top the same gray as the vanes of the shower would be pretty. I just had deep fried sushi for dinner, while watching Tara. Omg , sooo good! The bright white paint color is my vote. Dont stress , now that you know your next decision will be better. 💖
100% agree about the ledge in the blue tile bathroom. For the master, ehhh, I also agree. BUT, at the end of the day, it’s YOUR home and YOUR decision. Never be too hard on yourself. Sometimes, plans on paper don’t translate well into real life. At the end of the day, it’s what you feel best about as you have to pay for and live with these choices!
Hang in there girl. It's going to be beautiful. Don't beat yourself up . I painted an entire room & it turned out I did not like it at all. This is a very small change considering the size of this reno. It will probably happen again so be sure to give yourself some grace.
I vote switching out the white edge and bathroom vanity for a light, warm grey. Love that idea! Don’t doubt yourself, it’s so hard to tell with tiny samples. It sucks that it will cost extra to change it, but that doesn’t mean all of your choices were bad.
Yes to using the tiles!!! As your shelf in the bathrooms! You can tell in the clips you’re not excited after going into the bathrooms! But good luck to change! You got it, don’t stress too much! Self care girl!
That blue tub tile is gorgeous. I agree with u, in keeping the shelf in the same blue tile. When I first saw it, it looked like a waterfall shimmering. Happy baths!
Change it. You are correct in that it made the shower tile look dingy, which it is not. It is beautiful and the white did not complement it. Don't worry about the added cost. In the long run you will be happier. Imagine not changing it and being disappointed to the point you choose to fix it later at a much higher cost?! BTW the tub tile is gorgeous! I agree the shelf should be that tile, too. Much more seamless without the white stripe across! :D
If you are going for a personal look that you love that do what your heart tells you Tara I actually love the white in the bathroom frame but you have to live with and if it doesn’t make you happy and you don’t fix it you will feel it every time you walk in to the bathrooms loving watching your updates on your house I live for Friday’s well Saturday’s for me in Australia it’s getting me pumped for when I start me own Reno’s in the near future
You are going to be so happy with your home when it's done. The emotions with theese decisions makes that soo so apparent 😍 BTW, I just thought you'd have the same tiles as in your shower cut to fit the wall part. But hope you can make the changes you want to make it 100% yours 🥰
For the Cesar stone trim, I think you'll love it if it's all the same tile as the wall. It will look more seamless and sleek. Countertop wise you can always grab a scrap piece of tile to go find a new countertop. Wasting the money definitely sucks but at the end of the day you want to enjoy your home. Good luck! Hope it all turns out for you!
Tara!! Everything is coming along so beautifully. Couple ideas: I can totally understand what you are saying about the tile! I would suggest doing either a gray vanity that matches the veins of the tile and then doing a grey stone on the lining on the shower. OR do matching tile and vanity that are the same design as the stone in the shower. Or option 3, go a totally different direction and do a black stone that outlines the shower and then do a vanity that is the same style as the shower tile and then you could do a black cabinet base for the vanity! You could also go the total opposite direction and tie in the vanity with the white tile by doing a woody cabinet and a white vanity stone top!
I have totally been looking forward to this video. I think the marble on the edges is a great idea. Totally see what you mean with the contrast. Tara, you are a great visionary. And your parents are amazing for bouncing ideas off of. Please don't let this create doubt in your head. I just replaced my doors also for the single shaker - and I love them. Ps- the trim looks so nice. Itll be beautiful once the trim of the shower and shelf are compled the way you like. I had bought Cabrera marble for my shower, and I hated it against my white tiles- $600.00 gone; Sure it stings the bank but, don't sacrifice the small details that make a huge difference. You'll always regret it.
Absolutely love those blue tiles! My parents redid their home a few years ago and we also had to discover the horrors of trying to balance different shades of white. Best we came up with is to replace some of the white with colour and that fixed it, so I think your idea of doing the grey countertop and replacing that white with the more of the shower tiles should look fantastic. Your place is already looking amazing and just as excited to see the end product!
I agree with using the same shower tile around the edge. Lining the edges up so it’s seamless. And choosing the grey countertop that’s matching the veining so that it’s a contrast but not one that will leaving you thinking your tile looks dirty.
You're actually really right about the bathroom. The white does make it look dirty. I didn't realize it until you mentioned it. The tile is so pretty though!
Go with Simply White, it’s good for pictures etc. also since your marble is creamy stark white will not look nice with it ! Everything looking soo good! Good Luck don’t worry it will turn out very beautiful!😍
I HAVENT WATCHED YET BUT I WANT TO SAY HOW EXCITED I AM! I purposefully waited until Saturday afternoon when I could get my favorite lunch to sit and watch this update 🤗
I agree with you! Def leave the blue tile in your bathroom no white shelf! Also your bathroom the white def does not look good! Don’t worry. One step at a time. You got this. Also I feel it helps if you post on your story so we can vote lol I like doing that
Loved the video. Don’t let the changes get to you too much. Like you said your remodeling an entire house. The one thing you haven’t liked so far is trim. I say your doing a great job! Your also not rushing into purchases. Your shopping around. So cool to watch and really informative
Don’t be so hard on yourself! Your house will be a reflection of you. It’s a big project and lots of decisions to be made. Be proud of yourself for leading something so big and the outcome will be wonderful. 😘
Its hard bringing ideas to life because you never know how it'll turn out. (I am currently having similar issues with planning my wedding) but at the end of the day it's all going to work out. It may feel stressful in the moment but everything will work out. And I have no doubt that you will have a beautiful home ❤
Tara I am with you on that shower trim piece being so stark white. I honestly think if you match the tile you have by using leftover tile is a fantastic idea. That way it flows seamlessly. Also I like the idea of counter tops being gray to contrast the marbling lines in that tile. I have flipped 2 houses with my dad and I would honestly do what you were saying in that clip. You are doing a fantastic job on your first flip here. Don't 2nd guess yourself. Go with your gut that way you will be happier in the end. Much love from Utah, USA.
I’d change the shower edge to either the same tile as the shower or a similar grey to the floor. If you have black accents in there, a black trim would look good too. I like the white shelf in the tub, I think it would look better being thinner though. Try not to stress Tara. You are doing such a wonderful job and the house is looking amazing!
Tara, I completely see what you are saying about the stark white trim conflicting slightly with the tile in your shower. I also agree that making the shelf upstairs seamless with the blue tile is best, for what my opinion is worth lol. It’s ok to want to fix it to be the way you want it! You have done an incredible job all the way along, it’s just hard to know until it’s all actually in the space itself. It’s all going to turn out amazing, as you have such an eye for design! Thank you for sharing 💕🌸
ooooooof a loooot going on in this one!!! any ideas on what I should do re my bathroom?! I am stressed lol
Oh no!! TBD- I'm watching now!!
if you don’t like the stone on the shelf and the other part take it out and either just do the same tile or find another quartz. i also felt that it was dirty. but either way it still is AMAZING!
It'll look great when it all comes together - your contractor is bomb
make the trim black?
I think you should go for a warmer stone for the bit that you didnt like, something to match the creamier tones in the tile
My Heart melted when your Dad went „Tar, it was a really good call doing that, you know that?“, he just said it so proudly.
that was so sweet😍
This comment made stay until the end! ❤️
That was SO SWEET
Yaaaaasss! My thoughts exactly! I just can't get enough of your parents and seeing how much they love you!
I was going to comment the same thing! Mitch reminds me of my dad, major perfectionist. When they compliment something you did it means the world.
okay but why do i get like emotional when mitch compliments your choices and the decisions you make 🥺 he’s SO validating and supportive of you and it makes me burst with joy
im a very lucky girl!!!
Idk if you will actually see this, BUT... with the white piece with the blue tile, have you considered a sealed/waterproofed piece of wood? Since you’re putting the wood shelves. Timber would look so good! What a good call!
This would be the vibe!! It’d make it look super expensive too
I was thinking this too!!
YES!
This is a GREAT idea!!! I hope Tara see's this !!!

Your dad's fascination with the bathroom drains is a vibe.
I cracked up when he said “I could look at that drain all day”🤣

That black tub looks like a gigaaaantic ramen bowl - haha!
HHAHAH omg it so does!!
Like how would one even get out of that tub?😂
To me it looked like one of those giant salsa bowls😂😂
We know Tara loves some ramen!
I know a lot of ppl on insta votes for the crisp white but knowing Toronto you’re going to get some cloudy, cold months and having a slightly warmer wall helps a lot. Having blue undertones can look stark. Love the reno vids!
I would vote for chantilly lace (that's what my whole house is painted in) but reading this comment.... that's definitely something to think about.
new life goal: find someone who looks at me the way mitch looks at that shower drain 😂
This made me actually LOL!! 😂
2 little ideas

TARA! Chantilly lace is THE BEST white. Please please please pick Chantilly. You will not regret it.
STOP MY EYES HURT
That’s what white I painted my bathroom and it’s amazing
SW Alabaster is also an excellent choice!
My whole house is chantilly it’s the BEST
@@nicoleetipp does that have an irredescent sheen to it?

I noticed an immediate change in emotion once you saw what you didn’t like and it made me sad I hope everything works out! 💜

a concrete counter top in the marble bathroom would look so pretty
Anyone else notice the hole for the fireplace is the exact shape of a Coca-Cola bottle? 😂 it’s so cute
Everytime I see it,i think the same thing. And I am a Coca Cola fan!
Don’t you mean a Diet Coke bottle? 😉 🙃
Yes was thinking same thing
Can you swap the white stone for a matching grey?

The tile in your bathrooms is gorgeous!! Love the blue! Amazing how helpful your parents are with the Reno!
I think gold shower/sink hardware would look amazing in the blue tile bathroom! 💛
Your house is looking amazing Tara I agree with your dislikes on the bathrooms... the good thing is that you’re on time to change it. Don’t stress and take it slow and like that you will will exactly what you’re looking for in your bathroom
When Tara uploads everything else has to go on hold. Been waiting for this to upload!!
YES!
YUP!
I’m going to Mitch’s commentary and faces once this is over. The blue tile in the bathroom is so pretty!
when you said, "home sweet home" while walking on the little pathway towards your door, that's when it hit me! like... this is your home!!!!
And you shouldn’t blame yourself because it sounded great in theory, but seeing it in person makes a difference.
i can’t believe it’s been 12 WEEKS!!!
It does make the tiles look dingy.
the fact this has already been 3 months long... how time goes so fast i literally thought you just started the series... lol pandemic life
Love the update.
Hope you figure everything out ❤️
In your bathroom , a counter top the same gray as the vanes of the shower would be pretty.
100% agree with you on the shelf and the blue tile. Agree with you and the white tile in your bathroom. Change it to tile.
The emotions with theese decisions makes that soo so apparent 😍
BTW, I just thought you'd have the same tiles as in your shower cut to fit the wall part.
Definitely agree on switching out the tub shelf. The white is just glaring in the wall of tile.
That blue tile in the top bathroom is UNREAL! It's stunning, Tara
the tub is AMAZING such a soothing color LOVE LOVE LOVE it
You're actually really right about the bathroom.
Also I feel it helps if you post on your story so we can vote lol I like doing that
Hey Tara the blue tile looks great ! I think gold hard ware and gold bath accessories would look stunning as well
Totally agree those random white pieces do cheapen the overall look in the bathrooms. Good call changing it. 👍
Best part of today being my birthday is having a very exciting long Tara Michelle Reno video to watch! Im obsessed with your Reno video's!
Love the honesty in this video at the end of the day it's going to be your home and you need to love your home
is it just me or do i get so excited for these vlogs ?? 🤩❤️
I totally agree with you about the bathroom shower area. I hated it as well. I think you have a good idea in plan.
