Thanks a lot for watching! How did your first Facebook ad campaign perform? Comment below 😊
Thanks a lot Ben, I was a little scared and overwhelmed when I was in Ads Manager, but having you guide me through step by step has helped out.
That's great to hear
Excellent video! Thank you! Some people/companies sell this information. Very useful, straight forward, clear and informative.
Hi Ben - great video. Used it today to help me set up my very first Facebook ad campaign after watching your other videos on Facebook Pixels etc. Really helped step me through the process and feel comfortable that I didn't have to get it right first time. Fingers and toes crossed!
Fantastic!
Hey Ben, You have explained about FB ads in a very clear manner and cleared the Haze in my mind about FB campaigns. It is Overwhelming. Thank you.
You are very welcome :)
As usual, you are a wealth of information. Exceptional video mate. Appreciate it
Glad you enjoyed it
Very informative video, thank you. I have Liked and Subscribed - and I don't do that often!
Awesome, thank you!
That was a great class. I am much more ready to drop my new ads. Thanks.
Fantastic!
21:55 was gold. 😉
very straight forward,, what i was looking for!! thanks
Glad to have helped! Thanks for letting me know :)
Thank you Ben. I have tried several times with Facebook ads, some campaigns worked (no results), some failed, but at this presence, I got a problem with special ad categories? (Credit, employment, housing, social issue), ads could not be published? Asked to update the special ad categories? What supposed to be the correct cat. for special ad in Thailand, we do marketing in the US? Your help will be most appreciated. Thank you again.
Hi Ben, How do you create multiple ads in one ad set? Also, how do you check to see how many conversions the ad has generated?
Ben, this is an exceptional tutorial. I've been soaking up so much info over this past month as I am preparing to launch my first SMMA, but none of the other videos (even some of the paid training) has been able to help me grasp the overall start-to-finish process like this. It's very helpful! I was wondering if I might get your advice:
My first campaign I'm running (within the next week or two) is for a local yoga studio to try and fill up their class schedule (generate more leads).
Some of the training I received suggested a strategy similar to this:
1. Create Ad and run an Engagement campaign for 2 days to certain developing countries in order to get social proof (post reactions) for cheap.
2. End Engagement campaign, take Ad ID and run it through a local Traffic campaign that leads to a Clickfunnel landing page to claim offer (choosing Traffic in order to season the pixel). During this phase, I plan to split test different variables including copy, title, and creative, as well as some demographic/interest/behavior split testing.
3. Once I've captured enough data for the pixel, end Traffic campaign and run Ad through Conversion campaign using the seasoned pixel data for optimal results.
___
My question for you is: do you think this is a good strategy to use for local businesses like yoga studios, or would it be more effective simply to do a Lead Gen campaign?
I'm afraid to just do a Conversion campaign because there is currently no pixel on the studio's website and they have not run FB ads before, so there is no landing page pixel data either. It's my understanding that doing a Conversion campaign with zero pixel data is a fast way to burn up your budget with little ROI. Is that true?
I feel like every youtube video I find suggests a different strategy, many of them opposing in nature. I'm curious what you have to say.
Thanks in advance for your time! I hope I made sense.
Hi Jonny, great question.
To start with I would recommend keeping it simple. Install the Facebook Pixel on yoga studio's website and run a conversion campaign. You can run conversion in a brand new ad account. We do it with clients all the time. The results won't be as good during the first couple of days but that happens with most conversion campaigns anyway.
The key with a cold conversion Facebook ad campaign is the offer. You need to offer something very appealing. A free lesson or 50% off their first month - something like that.
If that doesn't work or the company's website isn't good enough you could try a lead generation campaign. With a good offer, yo'll definitely generate leads with a lead gen campaign but the quality might not be as good as when you send people to their website.
The more complex strategy could work but I think you are over-complicating things. The reason why different people recommend different strategies is because there is usually more than one way to achieve your objective when it comes to Facebook ads. That's why I like to keep things simple to start with and add complexity if necessary.
@@BenHeath Thanks for the thoughtful reply, Ben! Very helpful. Will do, I'll keep it simple and test a lot as I grow what works.
Love the channel; will be engaging with comments frequently.
My campaign is for an illustrator who is writing a book. Their current goal is to grow their following on IG and FB so that when their book is published they have a audience who has been engaged with the process and ready to buy. Would I select Brand awareness as the campaign objective since there is currently not a product to buy just yet. Thank you for your videos, I have been learning so much from them.
Hi Ben I want to learn complete fb ads can you please tell me how I can join your course
The right way in 2021! and the video created in early 2019 !
The set up in this video is still what we use and see great results with.
Hi Ben, great vid thanks a lot for uploading. I'm really lost and could do with a point in the right direction! When I create an ad through ad manager it takes me back into Facebook and only gives 4 options for different ad campaigns (More web clicks - Promote the page - get more leads and get more messages.) Have FB recently discontinued the ad manager and the conversions campaign?! Google isn't telling me much! Thanks
Hi Ben this video is fantastic ! So clear - Thank you :))
Glad it was helpful!
Good info....thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this tutorial, i will try it and see how it goes
Best of luck!
Many Thanks Ben for sharing your knowledge! I like how you got so specific with the interior design client. Its an industry I am interested in approaching in the future !
You are very welcome Nicholas
great info, do you have something more related to real estate?thanks
Not yet - but planning to do so.
@@BenHeath this vid is vey useful for the topic but your experience may help more with specific details of the industry, it would be great if you could share that, thanks, you rock
hello! my pixel is set up on my shopify but facebook still wont allow me to create a conversion event for purchases. What am i doing wrong?
Ben, please can you explain one thing. If my website is new and there’s no data within the fb pixel and even fb says when I’m choosing the conversion objective, that my campaign might not be optimised as there’s no data. Should I still run a conversion campaign or just simply go for traffic objective until I get some data? Or am I missing something here? Thanks 🙏🏻
I'd still go with a conversions campaign. Even though your account doesn't have data. Facebook still knows the type of people that purchase in your industry.
Ben Heath cool, thanks for answering 😉👍🏻
Thanks for all the info!
You bet!
hi Ben, i'm trying to learn to do FB ads for companies here in my city, but how can i find a company to experiment with if i have no experience? what do you recommend for newbies in my situation?
Great question - you can either create test campaigns that don't end in a product sale - or is there anyone you know that would let you experiment with their business? You can pitch it as offering the service for free.
@@BenHeath thanks for the feedback. I'm going to try it with a local company, a small signage company, who is willing to put $$ behind it. and how can i create test campaigns? do you have a video for this i can watch?
Hey Ben, thanks for the awesome video! Any tips if my first ad is also the week before Black Friday? So late I know! 🤦🏻♀️
Hi Amber, use a great offer and go for it. You'll learn a ton :)
Hey Ben, this was a really useful video - thank you so much. Just got a quick question, if I may? If I'm using automatic placements for ads, will Facebook know which ads are formatted to particular placements (eg will it tell the difference between a 4:5 video for feed and a 9:16 video for stories), or should I create different ad sets for these media types, to avoid them being put in the wrong place? Thanks again!
Hi Ben. The conversions ad that I ran had a MUCH longer text section than you are showing here. When I viewed the ad on my cell phone this morning I saw that my “get quote” button was all the way down at the bottom. So now I’m wondering if my text was so long that many people didn’t scroll all the way down to even see my “get quote” button. Thanks in advance if you are able to respond and help :)
When Facebook ads have longer copy, Facebook only shows the top 3 lines and includes the rest behind a 'see more' button. So the call to action button beneath all that will be in the same place with long copy as it would be with short copy. Basically, that's not something to worry about :)
Hi Ben loved this video. In fact, love all your videos. I had on question though. If I recently launched a new brand, wouldn't it be better to go ahead with a brand awareness campaign rather than conversion campaign? kindly let me know.
Thanks a lot Zarna.
Not in my experience, I'd go straight for what you want. Generating customers does great things for your brand awareness.
Another amazing video Ben!! I am still struggling to find a way to advertise my 360° virtual tour business, as Instagram doesn't display 360 images, but I suppose I could just stick to Facebook only.
Thanks Nick. Yes, I would stick to Facebook in your situtation.
Hi Ben, thanks for the videos! Under optimisation for ad delivery in Facebook ads manager, I can only optimise my campaign for Landing Page Views. I cannot optimise my campaign for conversions (the conversions option is greyed out and wont allow me to select it). Do you know why Facebook wont allow me to choose conversions under the "optimisation for ad delivery" section? Thank you!
Maybe because you need to set up conversion tracking via the pixel events
This helped me very much, thanks!
Awesome! Thanks a lot Suki - glad to hear it :)
Great tutorial! Can you tell me if there is a difference between countries or we can apply this information for Romanian market... or is recommended a different approach?
Not really - you want the same campaign structure, targeting, etc. You will just need to make sure the ads resonate with your local area.
Ben very useful information. I followed this to make my first campaign. Wierdly 5 out of my 6 creatives got rejected for violating the social issues policy-its got nothing remotely to do with a social issue or political. any suggestions what to do?
Thanks Ibrahim. I'd request a review on those ads - ads get disapproved incorrectly all the time
I'm unable to find "Info and Ads" on my competitors page :) can you tell me if this section is still available?
It's been replaced with the Facebook Ads library. This video shows you how to use it: ruclips.net/video/wYg7UCq_Pxg/видео.html
Ben Heath thank you! Found it :)
Do you have any videos that specifically address real estate and housing advertisements?
Hi Alex, I don't I'm afraid but it's a good idea.
@@BenHeath Look forward to it if you make one :) - sometimes it's hard to understand "social issues" and housing related advertising without getting flagged or disabled accounts.
Hey ben thanks for being such a valuable being .. i have one question i m about to run ads for my social media agency.
Should i go for brand awareness campaign or directly for conversion.
Thanks Syed. That depends on what you are offering in your ads but most likely you should be using conversions.
1 ad set and 1 ad weren't published because of errors. All other items were published.
please help me to remove this error
how do we optimize for purchase on the pixel? i dont see it as an option
You set that at the ad set level :)
@@BenHeath thank you for responding i was up all night and got it done thanks
Hello Ben. conversion objective is fine but what if you can not get out of the learning phase? 50 conversions in 7 days is quite a difficult task when selling high priced products. In your example you set your budget to 20/day. There is no way you could reach 50 purchase conversions in 7 days at 20/day. How do you feel about a conversion objective campaign running in learning limited status?
Good question Mark but I would still go with a conversion campaign. A partially optimised conversion campaign that is in learning limited will still outperform a traffic campaign.
Hi Ben, I'm an importer and want to use FB Ads to drive traffic for specific items to specific retailers. Do I still use Conversion as I can't really track if they purchase as I won't know if they actually purchased on-line or went to the retail store. Thanks
Good question. Conversions isn't really going to help if you can't track them. You'll probably have to stick to traffic.
as my second ad attempt for a wellness center client (massage, physiotherapy, etc.) do you recommend lead generation or conversion? also, in a previous video you said to leave detailed targeting blank... should i do that for this client or target based on specific interests??
any response would be really appreciated
Yes, alongside testing a lead gen campaign, I would test a conversions campaign with a similar offer. The conversions campaign will probably deliver better quality leads but a lower volume.
Your targeting really depends on your audience size to start with. After a while, you'll want to use broad targeting or lookalikes.
This was ver informative, thank you. Do you have any resources on ads focusing on "messages" and/or thoughts/resources on FB ads for direct sales recruiting such as Tupperware. Avon, Younique, etc.?
You're very welcome. I wrote this article on Facebook Messenger Marketing: www.singlegrain.com/facebook/how-to-build-a-list-of-messenger-subscribers-with-facebook-messenger-ads/
I don't have any contact around mlm or network marketing I'm afraid.
Hi Ben, i don't have a website i just have a Facebook page so do i still have to select Conversion because this is my first Ad. Thank you.
Hi Ivan, if you don't have a way of tracking conversions then you wont be able to use the conversions objective. In your case I would use lead generation or messages. Or create a website :)
@@BenHeath thanks Ben 🙂
Hi Ben, what’s the best targeting options to use if we are a retailer and don’t have a website? We wouldn’t be taking any payments on fb for our products either.
The campaign is more of an awareness creating exercise than anything else.
Thanks in advance
Amara
Hi Amara, I would still do the same audience research as you would for a conversions campaign. Even though your campaign set up is different, you still want to target those people.
Awesome video Ben. I’m wondering if you could help me out with some advice. I have a client that makes a product that kills the Coronavirus. It’s 100% safe, used by the government, it’s been tested, they have tons of documentation, delivered in fog form so it reaches all surfaces with very little effort when applying (you aren’t wiping every inch of the space with something), etc. It’s the real deal. What do you recommend for their first ad. I ran a conversions ad yesterday but didn’t gain any leads. I turned the ad off. Do I need to run a different type to warm up the audience first? The goal of course is to get people and businesses to call for a quote. Any advice and/or help would be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks a lot - much appreciated.
No you won't need to warm the audience up first, especially not right now. I would change the set up. I think you need to get people to buy this online. People are not going to be interested in a phone call.
I would use a direct to offer strategy. I would run a conversions campaign that optimizes for purchases. Target a lookalike audience based on previous customers (if you have previous customers) and create a number of different ads to test creative and see what lands. I hope that helps :)
@@BenHeath Thanks for replying! That helps a lot. Problem is it isn't something you purchase. I mean you can, and then be trained how to apply it and have sort of your own business working for them, but mainly they go into government facilities, jails, homes, etc. and fog the room(s). So they are a service business mainly, not a product business. This isn't a product like Clorox, it's a Sandia tested Anthrax, Coronavirus, MERS, e-coli killing product
@@postingproductions1050 ah I see. In that case, you are inevitably going to end up spending a lot per lead. Those people are difficult to reach and I imagine they are super busy right now. With something like that I think really high quality ad creative will be key. A video demonstrating how it works would probably be your best bet.
@@BenHeath Yes!!!!! That's what I keep telling them, is that we need video! Video explaining it better, video showing how it's done, video everything. Thank you so much Ben. Now I can tell them the best in the biz says we need to use video!
@@postingproductions1050 haha that's awesome. Hopefully they can get something like that made :)
Hi Ben, I have just downloaded your free 5-part template and noticed the headline of the first downloaded copy asks a question. I remember watching a video from you, mentioning FB rejects ads with such questions? Mine was rejected based on a simple question headline I am assuming. Thank you
Good question - Facebook doesn't have an issue with all questions, it depends what the question is. You want to avoid anything personal. So you don't want to include words like "Do you" or "Are you" in your question. Other forms of questions, like in my example are perfectly fine.
@@BenHeath Thanks Ben!
@@sectormentor6265 you are very welcome :)
Hi Ben,
I'm hoping you are still reading these comments but I have a problem with my pixel that I can't seem to solve.
The pixel = connected to my shopify store and its actually working. But I am doing something wrong in my advertisement campaign or something? It keeps saying that the advertisement account needs permission to use the Pixel?
I am indeed still reading these comments :)
That is an odd issue I haven't come across before. I would have thought it's because your Facebook Pixel isn't attached to your ad account but I'm not sure. I would contact Facebook about that one. Or try creating a new Facebook Pixel in that ad account and use that instead.
@@BenHeath Wow thanks so much for responding. I dabbled around a bit in my settings and changed the Instagram account that was linked to my advertising account. I was using a personal one instead of a business one. I'm not sure if that is wat helped it get along but... I didn't do much of worth except assign some stuff in the settings (assign rights to account) but somewhat later the red dot disappeared and everything started working.
I do have another question tho, what would be the best method to gain information on my SEO settings to generate more traffic on my webshop? I want people to use google and pretty much see me come out pretty high out there?
@@nashnya70 glad to hear it :)
I don't have any SEO related content published yet but I'm planning on recording some shortly - make sure you keep an eye out for that :)
Question Do I used the Conversions If I’m using Apple Music Store for my Website and I wanna market Global for Digital Downloads. Trying to market my Music CD
I don't think you'll be able to in that scenario I'm afraid - unless you can install the Facebook Pixel and track conversions, Facebook won't be able to optimise your campaigns.
What campaign objective should I use if I don't have a website?
That depends what next step you want people to take Ryan - usually Lead Generation or Messages
Hi Ben! This was so helpful, but I do have a question. I am a very small business, but I have close to 1000 small resources ($3-5 each) in my marketplace store. Is there a good way to run an ad campaign for categories? Or should I run multiple campaigns with different images of the different resources in action?
Hi Michele, I can help you, please respond,
Hi Facebook changed it and now we cannot optimze to conversions in a new campign...
Hi Shay, you can still optimize for conversions - have you got your domain and AEM set up?
Hey, is there a way to target specific key words ?
Hi Ozz, by keywords do you mean interests? If so, the answer is yes. Not many people use the search function within Facebook so there isn't a search audience to serve like there is on Google or RUclips.
@@BenHeath Thank you for that, appreciate it !!
@@fatherozay64 you are very welcome :)
Why does my pixel show that it is active and working (I used FB pixel helper extention on google chrome, shows pixel is found and is green with no errors) but when creating a campaign it shows red dots next to my conversion event and under it says to verify my pixel, and when clicking to verify it takes me back to very beginning of installing my pixel again. Originally I manually submitted to my header and footer and using google tag manager since I followed a step by step video, but when creating ad set I used FB's recommended plugin to install pixel. I have since deleted google tag manager and also deleted the pixel code from my head/body to only use only FB's recommended plug in. I now have 2 pixels showing, both green, 1 shows event the other has no event tracking yet. The one I used for events was the one that was done with the facebook plugin
Hi Diego, it sounds like the base Pixel code was working properly but you're events aren't. You need to have those working to properly run a conversions campaign. This video should help: ruclips.net/video/E5f9oRof8JA/видео.html
I have to install Facebook pixel and event code?
Yep :)
@@BenHeath thank you so much Ben, I really appreciate your videos. I have been doing my Facebook ads wrong for a while now. I believe your videos will certainly help me get better results.
@@BenHeath Hey Ben, You said to skip the custom audience for the first ad because it’s a bit advance especially if the person doesn’t have tons of data on customers. I believe your suggestion is to go to location. while I’m in location, I can add 10 or more cities throughout the United States that I believe have people that would be interested in my product?
Example, Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Miami, Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC, Philadelphia....
When a business creates their first ad, do you recommend making multiple ads in same area targeting different markets or make 1 general ad to start and the pixel will return data to show what metrics/markets (age, gender, profession, income, interest, etc.) are converting more than others?
Hi Dieho, it depends on your business but most of the time I would start with more generic ads and see which segments of my target market convert first.
@@BenHeath Thank you for the feedback!

Hi Ben, nice video. I'm dropshipping local products (hair growth) to local audience and I dont have a website. In that case, how do I set up fb pixel? I want my customers to pm me through whatsapp after seeing my ad, since I dont have a webstie or landing they can land t to. So should I optimize for post engagement or traffic so that they can pm me through fb or whatsapp me? And lastly, which platform do you recommend me to create website/landing page?
Hi Vimal, if you aren't sending people to a website or landing page then you can't install the Facebook Pixel. In which case you want to use the traffic objective.
However, I would recommend creating landing page or website and using the conversions objective. ClickFunnels is my favourite platform.
Ben Heath thanks Ben, I appreciate your prompt response!
My ad was not approved although my payment card went through successfully, how do I resolve this?
Hi Rachael, I'd recommend you check out my video on Facebook ad policies - that should help :)
hey,I heard a website talking about setting up pixel of the clients website...alongside other things I don't know,I just received a text from my maybe future client and I don't know what to do,what I think of doing is,create a facebook business page if they don't have one and make lead or traffic ads that's it...but I feel like that doesn't deserve a 1000$ per month pretty sure there is other stuff to do what are they p^lease thank you
Hi Umut, it sounds like you need to educate yourself a bit more and answer some of those questions you've got. There are over 200 videos on my RUclips channel - I would start there :)
good job, but please try to speak a bit slower :)
Thanks - that's a work on of mine :)
