The first part about writing in pencil followed by typing is fascinating. I will start this process because subsequent drafts are inevitable. I was told once by a writer that most writing is just rewriting. About finishing with a cliffhanger when writing is also interesting. Write on average 500 words per day & than stop.
I love the piece about writing for your own enjoyment. That is great advice for any creative pursuit!

writing with pen allows one to track change
Very true.
I wish I could write like him
Me too 💜
Understandable, but he's inimitable. Many have tried and come up short.
In any case, don't wish that you could write like X, Y or Z - wish that you could write more like you 🙂
What's some of your favorite pieces of writing advice?
"Write on a computer not connected to the Internet." - Zadie Smith
"Never use a word you don't know the meaning of." - V.S. Naipaul
"Kill your darlings." (look that one up).
Those are great! Thanks for sharing.
Write. Stephen King goes for 4 clean pages a day, so he says a few hours work, book done in a few months. Just write
So true. Just a little bit a day gets it done. Great advice! Thanks for sharing! 💜
I set an egg timer to 15-30 minutes. Then l write . When it dings, l finish if l can and then go back and review. I know it sounds silly, but it really helps me focus.😊
Thank you
