The closest we get to Washington is our annual gathering in Medford Oregon. We've gone up there in June in the past but might do it in the fall of 2024. Just depends on the haying season in Medford...

I saw Pard and we talked in Parkview. Good Guy. The name, Owyhee, comes from early fur trappers. In 1819, three natives from Hawaii, part of Donald McKenzie’s fur-trapping expedition, were sent to trap a large stream that emptied into the Snake River. When they did not return, McKenzie investigated and found one man murdered in camp and no sign of the others. The stream was named in their honor. “Owyhee” is an early spelling for the word Hawaii.

I said I have this and he said" "What you going to do with that? Pull a car out of the mud? LOL! Well after learning from Pat for awhile and him making me go Pro I bought my first Reata At a competition! I showed Pat and he said " what are you going to do with that? Pull a car out of the mud"! LOL! I have never bought another Reata except from Pat and Deb!!! I now know, I have learned my lesson!!! I love you two!!!

Cook’s name for Hawaii was the Sandwich islands. I believe I heard a story about Paniolos who were hired to come to that area to work cattle or train some locals to work cattle. The name you used is a bastardized version of “Hawai’i.”

  • @kevinhedgepeth3055

Owyhee and Hawaii are the same thing. When Cook sailed to the Hawaiian Islands he called them the Sandwich Islands and called the natives who lived there "Owyhees."

Good reata info. I was watching a video about western bits and how the different mouthpieces worked for different horses. I was wondering if you like Chinaco's breed because it has a better headset for a western bit? Also, can you predict what style of western bit will work best for him at this point?
