Thanks for the amazing videos and knowledge of comic book repairs and restoration and its been helping me restore some of my comics. Takes lots of passion and love to so this work.
As always great work Dr P. For the Calcium Hydroxide saturated. I recall you adding more water when running low. When is there a need to start a new batch of the Calcium Hydroxide saturated?
Thanks! I go through the stuff rather quickly, so need to constantly make a new batch. It’s literally daily when I’m in full conservation mode. I usually just add water and shake. If everything goes into solution and there is no precipitate, I need to add Ca(OH), which I do at 1/4 teaspoon per liter. If you use it more slowly, or if you notice that your solution above the precipitate is not totally clear, make a new batch because you probably have some Ca carbonate forming. Best to keep your solution capped up airtight to slow this reaction. 👍🏽
Binky, there are several suppliers online. I purchased a bulk roll off eBay a few years back. Yes, it is reusable, nearly indefinitely depending on exactly what work you are doing and how careful you are. Unfortunately no good sellers on Amazon. Here is a video on different non-woven polyester fabrics you can use for comic book conservation substrate and the pros and cons of each: ruclips.net/video/I_jPpC7nONc/видео.html

Came here to find a link for holytex, but don't see one. Where do you get it from? What weight? Do you reuse the sheets?
