All-New 2022 Cannondale Jekyll | Hidden Shock & High-Pivot Design

  • This video contains paid for product placement for Freewheel. This is Cannondale’s all-new Jekyll, a 165mm rear travel enduro bike featuring a high-pivot and burly 170mm fork.
    Cannondale’s Jekyll, in various forms, has seen more than its fair share of success on the enduro race scene over the years, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen it on the podium.
    Tongues got wagging when the Cannondale truck rolled into the first round of the downhill World Cup in 2019 with a rather unusual, twin shock equipped bike piloted by the talented Matt Simmonds.
    Were they coming back to downhill after all these years? Or were they working towards something none of us could have predicted? Well, it appears the latter might well be true.
    As you can see, the new Jekyll is an entirely different beast to its predecessor. According to Luis Arraiz, Cannondale’s lead engineer on the project, “the goal for the new Jekyll was to create the ultimate descending enduro bike.
    All the decisions in terms of suspension layout, idler, axle path, anti-squat, anti-rise, leverage ratio and centre of gravity were driven by that specific goal.”
    After nearly three years of hard graft, the bike you see before you is the product of a massive amount of work.
    What do you think of the new Jekyll? Let us know in the comments below!

    HTA 64, STA 77.5. Idler pulley. Wheelbase is 1227 for me so +4cm from my bike not bad not too long. Pretty much bang on what I'd want from a bike. Winner in my enduro book.
    Only problem as someone mentioned in comments is the cradle that the shock is in and how that works with mud, doesn't 😂. Personally don't ride in that kind of mud but if you are on a trip then you are going to just ride what is out there and if it's mud then that's what it is. It's pretty rare, but looks like a legit problem.

    It went together easily in less than an hour. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

    Yes a bad a$$ paint job . Suspension design is pretty sweet too . I’m sure it’ll get its tweaks over the next couple years. This suspension design needs to move down to the trail bike sector . Tweak the kinematics for firmer climbing and poppy-ness with some plow through for the square edged stuff . What every design has tried to do forever anyway right . Then make her light too .

    Beware: Read Cannondale’s fine print in their Limited Warranty Policy. They may use it against you for their best interest. My $5000.000 carbon fiber frame Jekyll broke after six years of use. Cannondale never made a finding that it was due to use or abuse. A hairline crack formed at a weak point in the frame. The bike was sold to me with a lifetime warranty on the frame. The best offer Cannondale gave me, under their lifetime warranty, was 20% off of retail - yes, that's right 20% off of retail. I fought them on it over a two month period and lost. So, I am now stuck with a 34lb paperweight. Cannondale has what I feel is the worse warranty in the bike business. If you do purchase a Cannondale bike and something goes wrong, know that they probably will not work with you at any level in your best interest. In my opinion, Cannondale does not value you as a customer, they only value your money. This has been my experience.

    • @fredford3832
      @fredford3832 2 года назад

      In contrast my Jekyll had a crack in the swing arm after two-three years, and they replaced it with a whole new frame within about six or seven weeks. I think intermediaries between companies and customers sometimes do not best represent the companies approach to life. I've had nothing but good experience with replacements from Cannondale and Giant, but I've certainly had local importers try and do some dodgy stuff.

    • @65010
      @65010 2 года назад

      @@fredford3832 I think you may be right, to some degree. The local bike shop I purchased my bike at (in San Luis Obispo, CA) stop carrying Cannondale bikes; therefore Cannondale may have decided to not support that bike shop's customers. To me that is wrong. When I bought the bike, I became a Cannondale customer. But to Cannondale, I was a potential red mark in their company ledger - so they decided not to support me through their Lifetime Warranty. I would have been happy to pay them wholesale for a replacement bike after six years of riding the Jekyll - but they wanted more money, almost full retail.

    Haha, seldom laughed like that. Weren't you the dud who voted Canyon Torque 2018 Enduro Bike of the Year? A bike that is falling apart in the showroom, the biggest junk I've ever owned. Better take a pottery class before giving advice, you non-expert. By the way, you can save all your gibberish by going straight to their homepage, because you presented nothing other than their advertising here, and something like that would like to be called a journalist, to be ashamed of you.

      Glad you had a laugh! Yep, I did really like the Torque. It's tough when it comes to commenting on durability (which is why we generally don't) as we only have those bikes to test for a few months, so knowing how it holds up after a year or so of riding is tricky. And yep, this is a news story with first ride impressions of the bike, so I'm just attempting to explain the bike rather than give opinion on it. I'll have a full review coming on it though.

      @@robweaver5849 Thank you very much for your apology, at least you have balls in your pants and face communication. I'm looking forward to your long-term test of Canyon Torque with the reference to the many, many RUclips videos of customers who find this junk falling apart while driving. But you are only allowed to bring advertising, otherwise you will no longer receive invitations to bike presentations in the Canary Islands. When I'm sitting at home with a € 5,000 junk because the service from Canyon is just as miserable as everything from those from Koblenz, then you conclude fat advertising contracts. Jump over your shadow and tell your followers what kind of rubbish "Made in Germany" really is. See Berlin airport, or VW Diesel, or... At least Canyon
