- Shannen Doherty has died of breast cancer at the age of 53. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She was in remission for a couple of years, but then it came back with a vengeance and it spread. She even had metastatic cancer in her brain. I'm Dr. Frita, and here are five things to know about breast cancer.
1. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
2. 85% of the women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history.
3. Men, I'm talking to you too, because one out of every 100 cases of breast cancer is in a man.
4. Black women, we are more likely to be diagnosed at younger ages and with more aggressive forms, and we are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer.
5. With early detection. There are many treatment options. Get your age appropriate screening for breast cancer.

That hits home. My oldest sister was diagnosed with breast and stomach cancer at the beginning of 2007. We didn't know how bad the cancer is when they couldn't stop the fluid and her limbs were swelling. After emergency surgery, she passed away weeks after surgery at the age of 34. That cancer was aggressive. My condolences to her and her family.

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2015 family history unknown she didn’t had a mastectomy done it was not required, she’s been cancer free thank God in addition to her chemotherapy we were recommended for her to eat a fruit in English is called soursop in Spanish is called guanábana.

I am a BC SURVIVOR since 08/02/2018 (last radiation treatment). I did not have to go through chemotherapy. I was diagnosed at the age of 42 one month before my 43rd birthday with DCIS and it was grade 3 and stage 0. It was Hormone Estrogen Receptive (HER) positive.
It was idiopathic. There was no one in my immediate family on my maternal or paternal side previously diagnosed. From one mammogram to the next there was no indication.
Get your mammogram 3D mammogram on time every year! If anyone in your immediate family was diagnosed get tested 10 years earlier than their date of diagnosis.
I credit my Lord Jesus Christ for revealing it early and for healing me. I did the part He commanded me to do which was to get treatment and to educate myself about breast cancer and He did the part that I could never do which was heal me. He worked through doctors, technicians, clergy, Family, volunteers, and community for my total Holistic Healing!

We live in a world filled wirh toxic chemicals that are in our food and water. Our social norm is to be sedentery, which is also a killer. We must educate ourselves and take action to remain healthy. May God bless her and her family during this time.

Shannon was a terrible chain smoker. She still smoked after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

@@I_AM_RAWYALTY My cousin smoked two packs a day (50 cigs) and got brain cancer. After getting radiation treatments on his brain for 5 years, then he got anaplastic thyroid cancer. His throat closed from the cancer, and he could not eat. Within weeks of getting a stomach feeding tube inserted his breathing became constricted, he passed away in 2022 at 59 years young.
Wow, didn't know that either. My oldest sister died of cancer and she was a chain smoker as well.
