BioShock. Directed by Guillermo Del Toro. Starring Tom Hardy as Jack. Hugh Jackman as Fontaine/Atlas. Willem Dafoe? as Andrew Ryan? Rose Byrne as Dr. Tenembaum. Instead of rescuing a bunch of little sisters, there could be only one to focus on, not sure who would play her though. Thoughts??
Gore Verbinski would be a better choice for a director of the bioshock film. I believe he was attached to direct it but left becuase the studio wouldn't let him make it rated R

Fort frolic for me wasn't scary at all as I knew a big daddy was never more than a step away from saving my ass from splicers. I line mw up, they misfire, hit big daddy, and a big fucking war starts with me eating popcorn watching them torn to shreds
12 YEARS later and still holds up, i played it in january this 2019 and it was one of the BEST games i EVER played, MY GOOOOOOD, it was so fuckin good. 12 years from the release and i loved it.
I literally beat Bioshock and Bioshock 2 and it's dlc, Minervas Den (which is arguably better than Bioshock 2 itself) all in 5 days. Im so Glad I got to experience the amazing ruins of rapture. Now I started Infinite and holy crap it's so different
It's kind of repetitive honestly. I am playing it on Hard though for my first time which might have been a mistake cause there are parts I have had to repeat several times. The hacking minigame in particular gets old pretty fast. Variety would have been nice. I still intend on beating it and then move on to Bioshock 2 but I, so far, feel like it's just getting old already. The story, the voice acting and the art direction are 10/10 all day long. So that's not what I am criticizing when saying that. It reminds me in a lot of ways of Half Life where it's linear-ISH and the entire thing is about exploring a massive hidden facility filled with monsters and other human beings who want to kill you.
@@voteZDLR i always tried to use different powers and also the environment for unique kills, i can see what you say tho, if you are not a super fan of fps maybe it can get repetitive
I'm playing Bioshock for the first time atm, and though horror games aren't my thing (really, I'm a total chicken when it comes to horror) I'm absolutely addicted! The world is so immerive and beautifully designed, the story is intriguing and I just have to know what happens next!
@@pear2752 It's pretty much a first person shooter in a survival horror setting. It takes all the classic tropes and cues from horror fiction. The dim lighting, the jump scares, the creepy sound. But it also gives you way too much power to be too creeped out about it. Horror is less scary if you can just shoot it in the face and clear the room of it's horror in 5 seconds.
Dovley Hutchinson Better than a movie. They couldnt have pulled off the Would you kindly in a movie. That's the best kind of game story: the kind that it's possible in a movie
In my top 25 favorite games of all time, no weakness to me, deep concept, good writing, a neat twist, fun shooter, depth there for all seeking it, and in Rapture one of the greatest areas to explore and look over I have seen in my 46 years of gaming. Bioshock to me is a game that can't be touched by time it will always hold up. the story you get in that game just makes you want to play more and more it will always be a classic to me and better then most games because it was made to tell a story not a pay to win game like most all now. I play bioshock now and it makes me sad seeing how most games have changed to just make money. making pay to win games and games with incomplete storylines you have to pay more for breadcrumbs of storylines for $$$
BioShock 1 (in my personal opinion) still holds up greatly. And yes, even slightly better than BioShock: Infinite. In BioShock 1, the atmosphere, the gameplay, the story (not to mention that shocking plot twist), are so awesome, even to this very day. This game is literally a MUST PLAY! Would you kindly try this game?
no kidding, dude... I am still trying to figure out that ending to BioShock Infinite... When I watched it the first time, my head started smoking lol... Bioshock 1 is much more straightforward in my opinion with the story
This game really made me realize why some games are rated M. Not because it’s particularly violent or anything, but because I initially tried to play this game when I was early teens and I became bored and confused. I’m currently playing it and I’m 100% in. I love it so far. Some games, to be appreciated, require you to be a mature enough person and I’m happy to say I actually know what’s happening now.
Just played all of them for the first time because of the collection. It was mostly really good. I finished about 4 days ago, and Burial at Sea is still messing with me.
I got it on sale for like $4, and it is really quite the experience. I just started it and it can be really creepy and hard, but once you get used to the challenge the game becomes so fun.

When I saw this review, I HAD to see what you had to say, Mr. Jahns. It was Infinite that made me seek out this game while I waited for it to come out. I actually have one other comparison that I would like to share: the original Twilight Zone. Now stay with me...it takes place in 1960 (right in the middle of the show's original run), asks questions about humanity (as the show itself often did), has a mind-blowing twist (as the best episodes frequently did) and features the kind of tech that would have figured heavily into the show. It's a story and game that haunts long after you're done...also like Twilight Zone (just sub "tv show" for "game").
Apparently he didn’t play on hard where the big daddy’s are always hard, it’s difficult to get money and health packs and I was losing my ammo at the last few levels of the game but just incredible one of the best games I’ve ever played

Did Jeremy play a more docile and/or controlled version of Bioshock? Cause when I played it, there were enemies left and right, I had no money, no health, no eve, and no bullets. It felt more like a frustrating action game than horror for me. The game still looks visually appealing, they story's great, and I agree with Jeremy's message about the game. But I was kinda taken out of it :\
***** that's the problem, I was playing on normal. I thought I'd be okay, but it felt like the game's difficulty rammed up after I discovered Atlas was evil.
i really loved dead space 1 it was a true horror game which is rare to find a true scary game these days so it was absolutely amazing game i have not played dead space 2 and 3 but i have heard that they are not as scary as the first one at all but am going to play dead space 2 soon and see by my self .
So I went into Arcadia with not much money, only a few health kits and 7 eve hypos. I came out of it with full money, full ammo in every weapon except the machine gun, and 9 health kits and eve hypos. You really meant it when you get too much money and ammo halfway through the game.
Where is your review of Bioshock 2?! I was looking for it and can't find it. I know you uploaded it before. Please bring it back Jeremy. I am thinking of getting into this series for the first time and want too see your review of Bioshock 2.
Just finished beating Bioshock about 45 minutes ago & the first question I asked myself after I beat was "Why didn't I get this game when it originally came out in '08?" This game is hands down my favorite first person ever! There's just something badass about basically turning yourself into the ultimate X-Men with an arsenal of multiple weapons to survive the City of Rapture. I agree Jeremy this is Awesometacular!... Now it's time to play Bioshock 2 then Bioshock: Infinite.😏
BioShock 2 is good & entertaining & , but Infinite is also Awesometacular lol.. Pus since you loved the first gm so much I HIGHLY recommend the 2 DLC episodes for Infinite.. I also enjoyed the DLC for B.S.2 as well, but the 2nd gm was not made, wrote; or worked on in any way by the creator (Ken Lavine) of BioShock 1 &n Infinite... Enjoy, "would you kindly!"
I think Boishock 2 is very underrated. I personally enjoy it, because you are in the role of a big daddy and that speech Eleanor gives at the end is beautiful.
I pretty much liked everything about this game; the music, atmosphere, characters, story, holy shit the story! Your review did the game justice IMO, thanks dude. Are you gonna review the second game too?
I used to think that Bioshock was an indictment of Ayn Rand's philosophy, but now I'm reevaluating. I don't think Rand would have approved of Andrew Ryan with what he did to those little girls which eventually led to the downfall of his system.
The Nameless One No, I don't think so. I think that the people who truly represented Rand were people like McDonaugh, Kyburz, and Sullivan. They weren't "perfect" people, but they subscribed to Rand's ideals more--but that didn't prevent Fontaine from hoodwinking them all.
The story is based on atlas shrugged in which the govt. is very corrupt and altruistic and there is a group of people who form this sort of retreat that they can escape from essentially socialism. That's the gist of it the only thing it has similar to objectivism is capitalism which is sort of what rapture has but is done in a very wrong way
1:58 Literally the way i played Bioshock. Didn't want to at first because it was too creepy but eh, you'll get used to it. Made the gameplay even more challenging especially if you add some commentary for yourself as if you were recording for a commentary gameplay. Watch out, this game is addicting as hell
Mr. Jahns, that game scared me so much i only made it half way to the half way mark then just put the controller down and said "Okay. I'm done. Screw this." And yet i STILL love it. I think i might play it again this time to the end. At least i somehow know what's in for me.
@@karmaa6550 I have it but I just wanted to know what he was mentioning when he says you get a bunch of money halfway through because until now I'm not that rich and I'm still struggling a bit with ammo
Andrew Ryan: Willem Dafoe Atlas: Michael Fassbender Frank Fontaine: Kevin Spacey Dr. Steinman: Crispin Glover Sander Cohen: Steve Buscemi Dr. Tenenbaum: Tilda Swinton What do you think of these choices?
YES! Bioshock is one of my favorite games. I can always pick it up and every time I play it I find something new. Whether it be a room or a story element. It's one of my favorites.
I didn't like Infinite as a Bioshock game, as a standalone game it would have been a good game...just wasn't a fan of how it took us out of Rapture, especially how thats why I became a fan of Bioshock to begin with.
In this case I felt it was important to get the date right because 2007 was one of the most iconic years in gaming because of how many amazing titles made their debut that year and bioshock was one of the most defining games of that year.
i love bioshock with a freaking passionate more then infinite and 2 combined cause it has a scary feeling and fun combat with great story cant go wrong with that
I must have been playing it wrong because I was forever running out of ammo at the worst possible times. But, then, it was my first time playing and I do plan to play it again because I loved it to bits. I hadn't been that freaked out by a game since Undying.
I just played it. Wanted to try it out before playing Infinite (which I just bought). It indeed holds up today, no discussion about that. One of the small things I really loved about the game was how the Big Daddy and the Little sister interacted with eachother if you just stood and looked at them. So much detail in everything :) For those who haven't played it yet, play it! It's a must!
So, I bought many new games from 2015. I got a bit bored of them, finished them and then I said, "what the hell, let's play bioshock 1. Never played it before but everyone said that it is pretty cool" Best FPS + Storyline I have seen in years! Seriously! The only games that got me this excited were Witcher 3 and The Last of Us. The rest doesn't even come close! And you're telling me this gem is from 2008?! I'm amazed by this game but... I'm also worry for the future of videogames :S
I've been playing BioShock for like 5 years now. Lol. I am a big fan. The story is amazing. Read Levine's inspiration, "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Welcome to rapture!
The book Lord of the Flies did the exact same message as this game, just with little children. I am certainly thinking of playing this game now that I know a bit more about it. Keep up the good work Jeremy!!! :D
I'm Excited that "Bioshock" is finally coming to iOS (iPad Air, iPhone 5S, iPod Touch 5th Generation) for it's 7th Anniversary of the Game in Late August 2014. It's Also my 22nd Birthday by the end of the month. It's going to be Bad Ass!
Hey Jeremy I'm a big fan of your reviews. I hear a lot of mixed opinions about Bioshock 2 so I was wondering if you would review it as well. Would you kindly?
but you can not justify your claim (even although it may make sense) because the devs have stated that the protagonist jack(from bioshock 1) and Booker are not related neither are Ryan and comstock. Since the DLC involves rapture before the war with booker and liz in it it means that it must work out. sry if that makes no sense its late were i am. if u are having trouble with the plot i suggest having a look at Ian Boswell on youtube he explained the ending really well
I just started replaying this last night.... nearly 8 years after I last played it. It amazingly holds up pretty well. One of the best video games ever made, imo.
I didnt say anything about a silent protagonist, while I think we should past that, it is done well in HL2. You actually meet people in HL2, people whose names you remember, who have motivations, and they interact with Freeman. Sure he doesnt say anything but it makes you feel like you're part of it cos they still manage to make it feel like a conversation. When Alyx talks to you, smiles or is sad its not exposition, its called characterisation. A 2 seconds exchange behind a closed door in
When bioshock came out I didn't have the tech to play it. Currently, I'm two hours or so into the game and its absolutely amazing! Depth s something games today may have, but can't always surpass the standard bioshock set.
I don't know if I'm just flat-out stupid for just now noticing this, but I kind of had this retrospect moment after beating the game, what with all the "A man chooses, slave obeys" brainwashing (btw, STILL one of the best twists in a videogame), did you guys notice the chain tattoos on "Jack's" hands (I think that's his name)? It's such subtle foreshadowing that it's just surreal!
I never really thought I would play a Bioshock game since FPS games generally suck at story telling and they get soooooooo repetitive. Infinite seemed interesting so I tried it last year and ever since I have played the original and 2. Rarely does the latest game in a series make me want to play the older ones. Best FPS series ever!!!
BioShock movie cast Director: Colin Trevorrow & J.J Abrams Chris Evans as Jack (I see him as a guy who would be in the sixties plus I think he's a good actor. James Woods as Frank Fontaine (Kinda typecasting but nevertheless I think he's perfect.) Johnathan Frakes as Andrew Ryan (His voice kind of reminds me of Ryan's.
Satoshi Katsumoto as much as I like James Woods and while I think he would do a good job in casting for a Bioshock film my casting would be as follows Jack: Chris Evans Andrew Ryan: Willem Dafoe Atlas: Colin Farrell Frank Fontaine: Kevin Spacey Sander Cohen: Steve Buscemi Dr. Tenenbaum: Francis Mcdormand Dr. Steinman: Crispin Glover
First time I played Bioshock it was amazing. The story is what caught me the most and the plot twists. In my opinion this game can still pack a real punch 5 years later after its initial release. Its a shame people don't look at it anymore. P.S. What about Bioshock 2 review ?
Hahaha this review is amazing...I shit my pants when that splicer appeared behind me too in the Medical Pavillion lab. And never forgot he'd be there on future playthroughs...he pauses just for a second before he attacks to you have just enough time to react...so awesome.

i couldnt have said it better a masterpiece man. i love the fabolous fifties twisted horror theme. one of a kind. what did you think about deadspace?
i really loved dead space 1 it was a true horror game which is rare to find a true scary game these days so it was absolutely amazing game i have not played dead space 2 and 3 but i have heard that they are not as scary as the first one at all but am going to play dead space 2 soon and see by my self .
boody mohammed dead space 2 was the scariest for me. 3 was generic as all hell
1st?

So I went into Arcadia with not much money, only a few health kits and 7 eve hypos. I came out of it with full money, full ammo in every weapon except the machine gun, and 9 health kits and eve hypos. You really meant it when you get too much money and ammo halfway through the game.
Arcadia is nowhere near half of game
Where is your review of Bioshock 2?! I was looking for it and can't find it. I know you uploaded it before. Please bring it back Jeremy. I am thinking of getting into this series for the first time and want too see your review of Bioshock 2.
This game is great, infinite is pretty great... I can't ever muster up the energy to play and fully beat 2..
Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite are all 75% off on Steam for 48 hours
Indeed. They are.
...
.......
Wait a second, You posted this 5 months ago! :o
You are a fcking time traveler!!!!
Animiles keep it down
GhostMotleyXT just bought the three pack for a little more than 10 dollars
Th3Positive You'll love them all.
GhostMotleyXT Cool! im jumping into the first one right now!1!
Jeremy, can you please review Bioshock 2? I feel like I'm the only one who feels like 2 is AS good as 1 + 3.
i think bioshock 2 is the best in gameplay
:) £££££££££££
system shock 2 review?
5hane9ro Dude YES!!!!!
If you're playing this for the first time the twist will blow your mind
Uh... Bioshock was not the first FPSRPG, the original System Shock was back in 1994.
+Kolbe Howard THEY ARE THE SAME GAME! (basically)
Aram Rajabpour System Shock 2 and Bioshock are basically the same game. System Shock 1, for better or for worse is a completely different beast.
Bioshock is just plain awesome, PERIOD!
I just bought all Bioshocks from Steam for like 10€. Yayy
I got it for 15€ :(
4.99 at PSN
Gracjan Idziaszek #pcmasterrace ;) just kidding
I seriously got all three for 10 euros on steam on the 2k sale
Got the remastered collection for $25… comes with all DLC + extras. Amazing deal it's still going on Amazon and Walmart
Doesn't that make it pretty much the opposite?
The Nameless One No, I don't think so. I think that the people who truly represented Rand were people like McDonaugh, Kyburz, and Sullivan. They weren't "perfect" people, but they subscribed to Rand's ideals more--but that didn't prevent Fontaine from hoodwinking them all.
The story is based on atlas shrugged in which the govt. is very corrupt and altruistic and there is a group of people who form this sort of retreat that they can escape from essentially socialism. That's the gist of it the only thing it has similar to objectivism is capitalism which is sort of what rapture has but is done in a very wrong way
+StoppedDessert8 yeah the game came out 8 years ago, everyone knows this already/
2:15 to like 2:21 funny, verrrrrrry funny
For the record: System Shock 2 was a FPS/RPG horror game before Bioshock... Just saying...
Just saying bioshock is better
xander lawson
no
xander lawson No
1:58 Literally the way i played Bioshock.
*Yo who’s here after the free ps plus game* 💯👍
Me lols
Literally me trying to find out if it’s worth it
@@karmaa6550 I have it but I just wanted to know what he was mentioning when he says you get a bunch of money halfway through because until now I'm not that rich and I'm still struggling a bit with ammo
So I just made a run on Bioshock getting all of the collectables, and I can say that it definitely stands its ground as a great game.
Bioshock movie:
Kevin Spacey as Andrew Ryan
Ryan Gosling as Atlas (Feel free to add on, or express your opinion)
Gary Busey as a splicer.
Kevin spacey as Fonaine because spacey is good at playing villains and Ryan isn't really the villain.
Bill Cosby as the Big Daddy
+Kyle Moore you ain't right lmao
Andrew Ryan: Willem Dafoe
Atlas: Michael Fassbender
Frank Fontaine: Kevin Spacey
Dr. Steinman: Crispin Glover
Sander Cohen: Steve Buscemi
Dr. Tenenbaum: Tilda Swinton
What do you think of these choices?
YES! Bioshock is one of my favorite games. I can always pick it up and every time I play it I find something new. Whether it be a room or a story element. It's one of my favorites.
I bought all three games today and yours was the first video I went too. I was thoroughly impressed and I haven't even played yet.
Would you kindly
Is it just me who doesn't like BioShock Infinite? I loved the first 2 though..
You're not alone. I didn't like Infinite either
I didn't like Infinite as a Bioshock game, as a standalone game it would have been a good game...just wasn't a fan of how it took us out of Rapture, especially how thats why I became a fan of Bioshock to begin with.
I liked the game until they started bringing in different universes. It feels kind of cheap ...
Myles Louw They all are shit tbh. Overrated 2/10 all no joke.
they're not all shit
It came out in 2007 not 2008
yes and no... the ps3 version is from 2008... so its still true
I hadn't been that freaked out by a game since Undying.
system shock 2 is better
Also, must not forget Deus Ex...
This game is a gem that now sits in my Xbox 360 game stack collection. Such amazing atmosphere.
I never played this game up until now, I can't believe I went through 2007 without ever playing this game.
This game IS still amazing today. The gameplay is still solid, and the story is truly poetic.
But would you kindly never review BioShock 2? Thanks.
So, I bought many new games from 2015. I got a bit bored of them, finished them and then I said, "what the hell, let's play bioshock 1. Never played it before but everyone said that it is pretty cool"
Best FPS + Storyline I have seen in years!
Jeremy...Thank you -- you have just convinced me to play the Bioshock series, good thing i didnt check out any Bioshock Infinte videos ....yet
do you have to play bioshock 1 before bioshock 2? Because i could only find the seond game, and i really want to play it!
+JeremyJahns You should play and review the burial at sea DCL..... Amazing story and nice switch of pace in the 2nd episode.
Would you kindly?
what a wonderful review, unfortunately I've never seen you before. Absolutely subscribed!
@JeremyJahns,
You gonna review Bioshock 2? would love to hear your thoughts on that.
but you can not justify your claim (even although it may make sense) because the devs have stated that the protagonist jack(from bioshock 1) and Booker are not related neither are Ryan and comstock. Since the DLC involves rapture before the war with booker and liz in it it means that it must work out. sry if that makes no sense its late were i am. if u are having trouble with the plot i suggest having a look at Ian Boswell on youtube he explained the ending really well
2:24 had me in tears haha lost count of how many times i replayed it xD
I just started replaying this last night.... nearly 8 years after I last played it. It amazingly holds up pretty well. One of the best video games ever made, imo.
This was posted on my Birthday
I watched this review at least like 7 times, because both Biochock and Jeremy Jahns are amazing
whan does the bioshock infinite review will be online?
will you also do a video about the ending?
just got it in the mail, looking foward to the experience
2:17 funniest line in the review...
which brings up an interesting point, why to FPS protagonists almost never have shadows?
BioShock movie cast
Director: Colin Trevorrow & J.J Abrams
Chris Evans as Jack (I see him as a guy who would be in the sixties plus I think he's a good actor.
James Woods as Frank Fontaine (Kinda typecasting but nevertheless I think he's perfect.)
Johnathan Frakes as Andrew Ryan (His voice kind of reminds me of Ryan's.
I keep seeing Daniel Day Lewis as Andrew Ryan.
Ed Crespo Who'd be Tenenbaum?
Francis Mcdormand maybe
Patrick Condron What about James Woods as Frank?
Satoshi Katsumoto as much as I like James Woods and while I think he would do a good job in casting for a Bioshock film my casting would be as follows
Jack: Chris Evans
Andrew Ryan: Willem Dafoe
Atlas: Colin Farrell
Frank Fontaine: Kevin Spacey
Sander Cohen: Steve Buscemi
Dr. Tenenbaum: Francis Mcdormand
Dr.
Jeremy you gotta do a video on the ending, it wont be a Mass Effect thing on how terrible it was, but how awesome it was and explaining it yknow
Hahaha this review is amazing...I shit my pants when that splicer appeared behind me too in the Medical Pavillion lab. And never forgot he'd be there on future playthroughs...he pauses just for a second before he attacks to you have just enough time to react...so awesome.
