It was a grandfather and his four grandsons. Fortunately, their family is very close and has wonderful support from their Christian Church. However, like us, they want answers and accountability from those at TDC who carelessly transported an extremely dangerous cartel member who has escaped from them several times before.

It is routine to transfer prisoners between prisons for certain purposes. He was properly restrained in a prison bus, yet he was able to get out of his handcuffs and open a wire cage. This was not a joyride. Death row prisoners are often transferred to another prison for execution.

I worked in my local county jails for 20 years as a Detention Officer, even when we followed policy to the letter it could fail!!! But people here acted as though the officers un handcuffed the guy and said Go!!!

Yes. In 1978 we had a similar incident in Arizona (two broke out of prison) and over the next month six people who encountered them were murdered.

No one confronted him when he went in. That's fake news. The door was propped open by someone inside the school when it should have been closed and locked. When the police gave their second press conference they said there was no school officer there that day, he was late for work.

Not exactly true. There has been a continual presence of TDCJ vehicles patrolling the area for weeks, and there has been a staging area of about 25 officers, and tracking dogs, just outside of town for weeks, also. However, most citizens felt he was long gone, but not the TDCJ.

I seen on FB, screenshot messaged from a neighbor in the crimscene that he was hiding in the woods with a ghillie suit, the family he killed, were kids and a grandparent; one of the young kids found bottles and food cans in the area; they called cops, after a day of not finding him near the primary area, he went to the family’s house the next day and killed them and stole all weapons and killed them.

Well based on recent events I'd say cowardice and incompetence are the reasons why.
@Jason762 why didn't they have him handcuff and anklecuffef and then cuffed to the seat in front of him? Why wasn't there a second guard to keep an eye on him since he had escaped four other times? TDC was extremely careless and at fault.
Now he’s in super-max security; the grave. He’ll never escape again.

A lot of people praising the police in these comments, and you're more forgiving than I am. In my eyes law enforcement failed to transport a dangerous criminal that terrorized communities for weeks and ultimately ended up killing an innocent family of five.
But sure. They can have a big shiny ribbon for finally shooting the guy and cooperating between different agencies, as if that's not the minimum taxpayers would expect.

What the heck happened to Texas police? They use to be good, between the school shooting and now this,they never posted that a escaped murder was in their area, for 3 weeks he was on the loose... now 2 adults and 3 kids are dead...
