In the comments you have dealt with so many types of arguments most of the political background or simple ignorant comments, but no one has yet explained why a Gheg Albanian perfectly dancing the opening of Olympic Games of "Ancient Greek", see us Albanians we did not need help to literate texts or historians who assure us of our origins, because the Albanian customs and traditions speak for themselves, it is very simple to understand that we are the direct descendants of the Illyrians, Dacians, Thracian and Hyllens!
ALBANIANS ARE MODERN PELASGIANS OR PROTO-INDOEUROPEAN!
THE TRUE ORIGIN OF INDOEUROPEAN PEOPLE ARE NOT IN CAUCASUS BUT IN BALKAN-ANATOLIA AREA!

It's supposed to be... it's supposed to be uncomforting for the people that heard it and danced to it were about to lose their lives.
It's the music that Alexander's soldiers danced to before they went to war. It woke them up from any romantic thoughts, and gave them adrenaline. At the same time, made them synchronize their movements as a team.
But most of all, made them feel like Gods.
They went in with the winner attitude... and came out winners. No one stood before them.

Strabo : Betwen Grece , Thrace and Danube are the Tribes of Epirots , Macedonians and Ilyrians. John Wilkes The lands betwenn Adriatic and Danube were inhabited by a people called Ilyrian.
When the Albanian language will be well studied and when its oral traditions will be exhumed, then many of Homers works will be revisited and some of them will need to be corrected. Herodotus had no idea that the names of the Heroes of Homers work were clearly in the Pelasgien language.Even Homers own name can be tracked back to the Albanian language : Good and in the form Imiros means good poetry. In the Albanian language it is : Agamenon , He - ge-mendon, he who thinks , Ajax that Bloodsucker ,bloodsucker: Priamos , Mothers Son,mothers son and with an ironicmeaning Son of the Earth, of the Country: Achilles , of heaven one descended from heaven: Odyseus of the Road the traveler the one who walks: Ithaka, i thak - idhnak: Droilos,Droili (os) one who fears,a coward .Many more could be added to this list. Its is not suprising if people who have studied the Albanian language say that this is the original language of Homer and that the Greeks took from the Pelasgien poets most of the songs of valor and heroicones.
They built big walls that are called cyclopean and for which Prof.Pokok says they were built long before Homers Greeks existed. From this strong prehistoric race only the Albanians remained.Only later was it realized that the Pelasgien were the old Ilyrians ,the first Indo-European branch, whose empire stretched from Asia minor to the Adriatic and from the North to the Danube. From the studies of young writers, like Proff. Max Mueller and Proff, POT, in the Albanian language this origin became stable. Thesse Ilyrians who still live in Albanian as Toska, Toscana,Etruscan. It is in vain to look for the gods of Grece in the etymology of her language. In the Albanian language these are very clear and their meanings are very correct. Gor example , Chaos emptiness, space Erebus, son of Chaos, is er-het-os, made dark: Uranos is I-Vran-os, that is, the fairy of the clodus, the Clodus: Zeus, Zaa,Zee,Zoot-God,voice of lighting: Athena is the Spoken , by speaking the word: Nemesis, nemes, that is, nam,Devils call: Muse,Mosois,is the Teacher:Venus meansclose to the day,the dawn.
George Fred Williams wrote in 1914 : If we go back to prehistory, before the Homeric rhapsodes were sung to the gods and mythological heroes, before the Greek language was written, there lived a people known as the Pelasgiens. Albanians are the only ones who have come to this day from this powerful prehistoric race.Only in recent years has it been determined that the Pelasgiens were the Ancient Ilyrians....
These Ilyrians also went to Italy under the name Toska, as they are still called in Albania, while in Italy they remained as Toska, Tuscan Etruscan. Albanian was the tru language of Homer, because the Greeks borrowed from the rhapsodist Pelasge their famousepic....Albanian was the mother tounge of Alexander of the Great conquests and and of Pyrrhus of Epirus, one of the greatest generals in History......
It is a tragedy beyond all imagination , that this great and very ancient race should end up in this state, which deserves to be called the Scandal of European Civilization. It is not suprising that the Otoman conquer prohibited any exavation in the Albanian land, which could remeind the people of its former glory.. What a great wealth of knowledge awaist the archeologist when the Albanian land opens the treasure of the History of the Pelasgiens.
The origin of Albanians - In prehistoric times , before the poets of Homer sang of their Gods and heroes of fairy tales, before the Greek language was written, there lived a people called the Pelasgians. Even before the Hellenic branch became known in the Mountains of Thesaly, Skodra the chief city of Albania was undoubtedly the capital great Kingdom of Ilyria.
Facts about the Origins of the Moderrn Greek State .1. The first King of Grec is the Bavarian Prince Otto 2 The Typical Greek of the time spoke Arvanite a language very cloesly realeted to Albanian so it is a Albanian dialect,3 The national costumes of Greek is the Albanian Fustanela 4 The national Dance of the Greek indepedence is the Albanian Chamiko The Dance of the Chams /Came -a subgroup of Albanians in Greec.4 In the Year 1831 Athens was made up of 8000 houses where most of the Inhabitants were Albanians.
-Helene Glykatzi-Ahrweiler.5 The majority of Greek soldiers spoke in Albanian to one another Parnassos Magazine. History of The Greek flag in 1822 Grecce adopts this flag its naval ensing. in 1828 in battle of Navarino Britain liberated Grecce from Turks. In 1978same flag becomes Greek national flag. What do Arvanite call themselves in their language? They call themselves Arberor/Arbereshe.
What did Albanians in middle ages call themselves? Arbereshe
What do Albanians in italy call themselves? Arbereshe and their village is called Piana Degli Albanese... the ones in Ukraine also use the term Arbereshe sometimes, but mostly Shqiptar. they all use the same Albanian flag.
Arvanite was a greek word used to call Albanians.
Arvanite became greeks due to the same religion, Orthodoxy.

They became greeks due to forced assimilation, not because of the religion. They were not allowed to learn their own language, or even speak it in public. Obviously through hundreds of years of this kind of opression they forgot their roots, but even today you can find older ”arvanite” people in greece who still speak albanian. There are plenty of orthodox christians in southern albania for example, why didnt they turn into greeks? Because they werent forcibly assimilated like the ones in greece. A lot of albanians were also ethnically cleansed from greece.

We been living in helenistic kingdoms yet we have customs, dances etc that ancient greeks had but modern greeks don't have? interesting. Copied? You're saying that like it's a bad thing. Skanderbeg used it as a war flag it was originally a war flag of byzantium, later we adopted it as national flag? Can you explain to me where the problem is? Why didn't any greek claim it then or protest? many flags in balkan are from byzantium, some theories are that the flag even pre-dates byzantium.

The people who still use the Greek alphabet the Greek language and have a Greek identity since the Bronze Age
      Who are the Albanians. ??
"The language of the Albanians is unformed and adulterated.
In many areas Italian elements have been incorporated into the language, in others Greek and in others Slavonic.
Therefore Albanians who live fifty or sixty miles apart do not understand each other.
In addition, there are racial differences between the Gegs who live in the wild north and the Tosks in the less rugged south.
One would say that they belong to different ethnicities. And indeed this is the case. It would be easy to prove that the Albanians are not one people but half a dozen peoples.. They are the descendants of desperate races who lived defiantly and outside the law and were not exterminated or assimilated by the conqueror but maintained their independence blocked by the "fortress" of the Albanian mountains." Rouga (Alb. Street)... is different from Roga (Alb. Pay). Rougats (Alb. A person of the street, houligan, gang member). Rogats (does not exist in Alb. nor in "Greek")... so it can't possibly be what you're saying. But you may be told it means so by clergy, who crafted the modern history of Greece, in order to divert anything that reminds its population of being of neighbouring stock.

But yes, the Arbereshe in greece are assimilated into greek population and no longer speak albanian... they are not albanians anymore. so I'm not trying to claim them. I don't know why you are discussing this. you are trying to tell me the arvanite always were greeks? no. they were originally Albanians that fled from albania to greece during ottoman war, just like albanians fled to italy and to ukraine.. even albanians in croatia... some use the word arbereshe, some use shqiptare.

@MusicOfEpirus You still ignore history and talk about people in Hydra and Psara but before they got "brainwashed" they were among the ones who wanted to establish the modern country of Greece.
It doesn't mean they were albanian or arvanites because they could speak arvanitika (not albanian). In the southern part of FYROM there are about 100,000 greeks who don't even know a signle word of greek.

I will answer to you with only one thing.
You call my country Greece. The Turkish call it Junanistan. The Chinese call my country ~xi~ la.
    You know what each means?
Greece - Greek = the ancient land and greeks are the ancient ones
Junanistan = Land of the Ionians (because the Turks met the Ionian tribe first when they came in this area)
and the Chinese call my country with its greek name Hellas (Land of fire). Do you know why? because they have an ancient civilization too. So simple...

One thing i notice to all of you commenting is that you use words like stupid, hilarious and other characterizations. It is because you don't know what to say to convince me that i am wrong. You need to justify your thoughts, not characterize the other. I guess the word dialogue doesn't mean anything to you.

@topallia Just for your information, during Communism the teachers were obliged to send to the party (goverment) a list of the words that were not included at that time in the official albanian books. A teacher i know had made many lists of those words. After communism passed and she came to greece she found out that the words she was providing to the party were nothing but greek words. Her parents spoke a mixture of greek and albanian (obliged by communists). Check your ancestors

The term is used in a legislative meaning only, and has to do with the legislative bills that the senators proposed in Senate. They didn't call themselves Albanians but it was called Albania by Romans Alb means mountanious in latin. mountanious land. The Caucasus is mountanious like the Balkan, which means mountain in turkic.
This is Ancient greek, shows todays Albanians from Balkans have similar culture to ancient greeks.

Yeah our culture does has roots in ancient greece. Even God in Albanian (zot) is very similar to the ancient greek god Zevs, and in byzantium. We were part of Byzantium as a people. But I disagree about the fustanella.. Albanian culture is also similar to celtic culture and some historians have noticed similarities between Albanian highlanders and scottish highlanders. the bagpipes are also very similar.

first of all arbanitia as we call it in greek is a place in albania not a nation, everyone in byzantium and otoman empire were usually speaking two languages at least one is the language that your parents teach and another is the language you speak in the place that you live, so the greeks living in pontos spoke turkish and an ancient greek dialect in today albania greeks that lived there since 800 bc (and i am sure you have seen the greek temples theatres and statues in your country)

  • @beast1337no

I never said they have been forced to be something else. I said they are originate from albanians.. as I tried to explain to you. if you don't believe me you can google Arvanite, and see what they call themselves: and what they call their language: they call it Arberisht. this is Albanian word. as I explained to you.. Albanians in middle ages fled to many countries.. one of them greece and assimilated into greek community because of the same religion, orthodoxy. this is no problem. if they don't

  • @beast1337no

The Qani trima song is Arvanite. they don't call themselves Arvanite in their language, they call themselves Arbereshe. the same as in italy, the same as Albanians called themselves. but some fled to greece, others to italy.. Albanians first fled to Italy. that land was given by the pope to Skanderbeg.

Some of the biggest Albanian nationalists have been arbereshe. Arbereshe is what we used to call ourselves. Shqiptare means after the flag. Shqiponja means the eagle, the term is taken from the flag. the arbanites in ukraine call themselves Shqiptar... search up Shqiptaret ne Ukraine.

So who the hell are you fools to say they are not Albanians when they go infront of camera and say they are and even speak Albanian after 400 years in italy???? And they had a huge impact on Albanias independence in 1912,. and albanian national awakening, kosovo's uniciation with albania at that time, kosovo's independence in 2008, some of them came up with the Albanian alfabet in 1912 (google it). their national hero is also Skanderbeg and they use the same flag.

  • @beast1337no
    @beast1337no 11 лет назад

I never heard someone say you stole our flag. And national heroes? I don't know about that. Fustanella is actually originally used by Albanians. it was adopted by greeks after greece war of indepdence from Markos Botsaris and the souliotes (heros of the war) who were were Orthodox Christian Albanians. But allot of Arvanite are assimilated in greece. if they wanna be greek it's fine, if they wanna be albanian, it's fine. it's up to them it's not up to us to tell them what they feel.
