Great tips Brett. Where my property is located in South Central Alabama, we not only have issues with Coyotes, Raccoons, Hawks, and skunks; we also have a high population of Wild Hogs that wreak havoc on nesting turkeys as well.
Nathan I thank God we don't have trouble with the wild hogs in my area of west central Alabama at the present time but I am sure they will come. The coyotes, skunks, raccoons, and such are creating havoc on our turkey population.
Something I wish people understood about hunting is that creates an intimate relationship between hunters and the game they pursue. Thank you for the educational video! 🏹
I appreciate you talking about you talking about habit management for turkeys I love deer as much as anyone but healthy land management means thinking about all the animals on the landscape
I don't need the bow but liked your presentation overall. I also subscribed because of the info and knowledge u possess. I live to Turkey hunt, even more than deer and I hunt with a crossbow. So give ur bow to a needy hunter not a greedy one. Thanx again.
Love this video. Just subscribed. It’s nice to hear all the details that go into helping these species thrive and on top of it how to help you manage land through funding.
I'm watching these to help me raise my animals on my farm. The one thing I don't do is burn. If something is overgrown, I send in nature's steam shovel, the pigs. I'm rebuilding the turkey roost this year and planting food crops for them.
Brett thank you so much for this video! Turkeys have been the hardest thing for me to kill! They are tough in Alabama for sure! And they like to live around us. Hopefully next year will be different!!
So say the land owner that I have permission on won’t let you cut down any trees or hinge some basically no tsi. Would a burn still work through there even though the canopy is basically closed?
Cool video. I got a question. Should food plants be cut down after turkey season to help feed baby turkeys or left tall for cover? I been thinking on this for weeks.
I agree with you that CRP is a much needed and beneficial way to create awesome habitat. However, when land owners look at the price a farmer is willing to pay per acre to rent it compared to what the CRP program pays the CRP program has become non-competitive with current land renting prices. My in laws just went through this and unfortunately took the land out of CRP because financially it wasn't even close.
The NWTF came into a piece of public land I use to hunt often that held a great turkey population. They removed trees, and piled the underbrush (what?). Since then, the turkey population declined and the whole area is completely destroyed. They even had the balls to put a sign with their name on it. That was in the early 90's, and to this day, the population has not recovered, and the dam sign is till there. But no turkeys. What they did, is lay the foundation for varmints. Need I say more.
A new bow would be awesome nice video

Timberstand improvement my works, but most morons just destroy everything thinking they’re helping. The arrogance/ignorance is disgusting
