Control tries to paint an all-too-perfect picture. It's too fixated on being cinematographically beautiful while 24HPP just embraces the chaos and runs with it.
The shaky camera movement and somewhat deteriorated quality of live performances make it seem good. I think Control would have been a masterpiece if it also had shown live performances in a similar way. It was still a good film.
Nah, Control is far too slow-paced and really only for Joy Division diehards. 24HPP was not just for JD fans, it was a history of Factory Records and didn't take itself too seriously.

I'm a JD diehard and I'd take 24 Hour Party People any day over that fucking pathetic ass love story Control...I read the book back in 2006, fucking pathetic, the movie was just as ruined by having Anton Corbijn as the director, I mean fuck the fact that he did their art, he's no director...he's a fucking video artist/photographer..Everytime I've seen praise thrown on that movie its from kids who like JD as part of a collective culture..they don't understand post punk was fucking INTENSE.
mig fdaf I'd have to disagree with his statement as well. Wasn't really a love story but what ians life was like. It was very accurate and unlike this movie the actors actually played and sang which is awesome
