tbh that was the handiwork of the BTG editors. They muted the crowd feeds and turned up the feed from the judge's desk, then faded the audience in. That's why you hear Simon's chair so loudly when he gets up. They use crowd footage that's not exactly synched with what's going on to emphasize whatever point they're trying to make. I always enjoyed watching Simon. He tells it like it is. And that makes it so much more powerful in meaning when he says he truly enjoys something. In comparison to someone who loves everything there isn't enough range to compare quality of singers.
I actually cry like a baby for all these auditions. So love this show and the judges. But for me Simon is just the best. He really knows his business and to be liked by Simon is the bomb!

Father Kelly’s performance was so moving. Something I’ve been needing after going through so much hardship now in my family. God bless you, Father Ray. Thank you for your genuine kindness that reflects through your song.
That silence is pretty rare. I've only seen it one other time with the great Bill Frisell and his beautiful guitar playing, no applause at all, people were mesmerized.
I disagre. He lost control of his voice on multiple occasions. But the vocal chords of an old man are weaker, so he did very good for his age. There was once an 80 year old woman on BGT who sang "No regrets". I thought she did better in relation to his age.
When father Ray stopped singing, and the whole crowd stood quiet and then Simon just stood up and started clapping, and everybody else followed, like.... I felt that. That audition was enough to make a grown man cry, and it did, several of them. I love Simon.
It was genuine...so heartfelt that the audience was in the moment too. I cried 😢 not because it was sad; it was pure, soulful, and hopeful. I could feel the sincerity oozing from Father Kelly. Resonated thru my being with goosebumps/chills.

Daniel deserved that standing ovation! He's awesome! Beautiful voice!
You get a standing “whoo” from Simon and you’ve really done it!
I also loved Daniels performance. He is amazing and has the crowd in his hands. Boy has he got a voice.
Simon has respect for those who are sincere from within...... The man was hurting and now he is ok.....he has healed himself along with others...the real deal needs no hype.. ...you just have to recognize it when you see it and feel it....
the teachers energy is EVERYTHINGGG i love him
I live far away form my home, and my much loved Auntie passed away. My whole family is at her funeral at this moment and I am not there. I was sitting here, not sure what to do, feeling sad, grieving and very alone. I'm not a religious person, but don't need to be to enjoy that performance. Thank you Father Ray Kelly. You provided some much needed comfort. I'm a total wreck.
Sorry for your loss sweetheart...hugs and prayers to Lord God for your family....
Madison.. I am sorry to hear about your auntie..I do not need to know, why you are not at the funeral...You either could not go physically,or you could not go emotionally,,If it is another reason,I I just want to say God knows why,and I pray you find peace, you so desperately need,at this that time..Bless you!
