The bassist is a male :) the drummer introduces him by saying " (on) Bass... Asaaaa" and then Benni comes on stage with the 3 string Japanese instrument called Shamisen and he then says "(on) Shamisen ... Benniiii". The general idea behind the band is that they want to promote traditional japanese instruments (that are greatly declining in popularity) with rock music. In reality all of them are TOP TIER musicians greatly accomplished. The singer and original creator of the band in particular is I N S A N E. She has beem trained in traditional japanese singing style , also she has geisha training which is like marine training and you will see her perform amazing dances, wielding Katanas and other stuff.
Beni plays "tsugaru shamisen" or just "Shamisen". Tsugaru refers to the playing style and area it comes from. The type of "shamisen" Beni plays is called "Futozao" is slightly larger and has a thicker and longer neck. Tsugaru shamisen is played with a plectrum called Bachi.
It's easy to be mistaken, but the gassho worship you performed is done by Buddhist monks and is not commonly used in Japan. Gassho worship in Japan is only for God and those who are dead. By the way, "Wa" in Wagakki Band means "unique to Japan" and "gakki" means "musical instrument". The leader, Yuko Suzuhana (vocal, sometimes keyboard), was the winner of the national competition for traditional performing arts called "Shigin," and had a sense of crisis about the declining traditional Japanese performing arts. WagakkiBand is made up of top-notch musicians who agree with her idea of "I want to send Japanese classical performing arts to the world more POP." Her wish came true with the song "Senbonzakura" from their first album. As soon as the music video was uploaded to RUclips, it attracted worldwide attention (currently over 140 million views) and succeeded in performances in France and the United States. Here, I will write a little about the handling precautions of Wagakki bannd. They ended their contract with Avex in June 2019 and signed a global contract with Universal Music. I think it's a copyright issue, but Avex-owned MVs other than live video will definitely be blocked if used as they are, so processing is required.
The bow in the beginning was never intended to be copying a Japanese custom. I hit the table one time and the mics made a gong sound and we both bowed after it. We made it a thing afterwards. It seems like it is a Thai custom. I wonder if that's why Thai is our biggest audience(Nah, its Lisa😊) and we get more dislikes than usual on Japanese stuff. I wonder if people are getting offended. Maybe we should just switch to the gong and leave out the bow. I dont know. Thank you for all the information. Especially giving us a heads up on the copyright issues.
Wolfpack's here and everywhere. I have a couple of suggestions for your next reaction to Wagakki Band. Kyouka Suigetsu + Tsukini Sakebu Yoru ruclips.net/video/aWlMc-pbDc8/видео.html is a perfect showcase of WB. Every member's got own solo and whole sound is a perfect fusion of Japanese folk music and heavy metal. The other piece is Toono Monogatari Yon-yon ruclips.net/video/WlSVRNAkVXY/видео.html. It's smoking insane solos of three, Shamisen (the three string banjo), Shakuhachi (the bamboo flute), and Taiko (Japanese drums). Only three folk instruments make brutal and heavy sound. It somehow reminds me of Dueling Banjo, sounds somehow like blue grass to me.

Thanks for the info
I like that you had no idea about this band prior to watching the performance. Keeps the reactions honest.
Btw the bassist is in fact, a man. 😂😂😂😂
FYI Jeff Beck was tapping guitars before Eddie Van Halen was born.
if you can't imagine a flute solo in rock, you must have never listened to the band Jethro Tull
We never listened to them. We will have to check them out.
Also Bloodywood -Aaj .... Flute solo in metal..
